WASHINGTON (AP) -- Drawing a bright line with congressional Republicans, President Barack Obama is proposing $1.5 trillion in new tax revenue as part of his long-term deficit reduction plan, according to senior administration officials. The president on Monday will announce a proposal that includes repeal of Bush-era tax cuts for the wealthiest taxpayers, nearly $250 billion in reductions in Medicare spending, $330 billion in cuts in other mandatory benefit programs, and savings of $1 trillion from the withdrawal of troops from Iraq and Afghanistan, the officials said. The plan includes no changes in Social Security and does not include an...

The forces of Zero's Keynesianism and the tattered remnants of the Free Market proponents meet on 9-8-2011 to hear Zero arrogantly announce how HE plans to buy "jobs" with MY grandchildren's future paychecks. It will be an auspicious occasion I'm sure. Since I plan to watch The Packers whup up on the enemy, I though we could help Ol' Zero improve his " 9-8-jobs-can-wait" speech by including a few things that might, could work, and give us time to watch some FOOTBALL! All the L.I.E. Media wants to talk or write about is what Zero is going to say. At...

With less than a week before the midterm elections President Obama is in full campaign mode, supporting his fellow Democrats and plunking down political red meat at rallies across the country. In recent stump speeches Mr. Obama has said, “We don’t mind the Republicans joining us. They can come for the ride, but they’ve got to sit in back.” It’s widely expected that Republicans will make major gains in the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate, leaving Mr. Obama in a tough situation. “I think the president is in some ways caught in a trap that’s partially of his...

A coming series of "superhero" cartoons promoting the tenets of Islam under the title of "The 99" – which has been praised by President Obama – is drawing a terse warning from an expert who has analyzed media impact on people for decades. "These are not the types of heroes you want your children to have," Dr. Ted Baehr, chief of MOVIEGUIDE®," told WND today. "These heroes, at their core, because they represent values contrary to humanity, at the core these heroes are more villain than hero." Reports already have circulated about the plans by The Hub, which formerly was...

The White House attack on the U.S. Chamber of Commerce isn't about "disclosure." It's about disarmament. While posing as campaign finance champions, the ultimate goal of the Democratic offensive is to intimidate conservative donors, chill political free speech and drain Republican coffers. Chamber of Commerce official Bruce Josten tried to educate the public. "(W)e know what the purpose here is," he told ABC News. "It's to harass and intimidate." Josten cited protests and threats against chamber members as retribution for ads the organization ran opposing the federal health care takeover. But this isn't the first time liberal bullyboys have targeted...

Report: Al-Shehri warns against "the greater state of Israel." Al-Qaida is ready to exploit a war "by the Jews against Iran," the Sunni group's second-in-command in Yemen, Saeed al-Shehri, said in an audio message this month, according to the Daily Beast. The mostly Shi'ite nation of Iran is an enemy to Al-Qaida, and al-Shehri predicted that after Israel attacked Iranian nuclear installations, Iran would blame Saudi Arabia - which reports say may let Israel fly through its airspace to attack Iran - and use the opportunity to seize the holy cities of Mecca and Medina in Saudi Arabia.

It has occurred to me tonight that I do not remember hearing that the President had planned to have a two week long vacation. I had understood that he would take last week then, come back to Washington and go back to work. I heard today that he is "taking the rest of the week off". Did I miss something? If not, I cannot recall a time when a healthy President suddenly took an unplanned week off. Can anyone offer some clarity to this mucky water? I am concerned...

The first appearance by a sitting president on "The Tonight Show" may well end up being the last. President Obama, in his taping with Jay Leno Thursday afternoon, attempted to yuk it up with the funnyman, and ended up insulting the disabled. Towards the end of his approximately 40-minute appearance, the president talked about how he's gotten better at bowling and has been practicing in the White House bowling alley. He bowled a 129, the president said. "That's very good, Mr. President," Leno said sarcastically. It's "like the Special Olympics or something," the president said. When asked about the remark,...

VIENNA (Reuters) – The United States said on Friday the first independent monitoring report on an alleged Syrian nuclear site had hardened suspicions that Syria was building a covert reactor and would raise pressure on it to come clean. The International Atomic Energy Agency report said that a Syrian complex bombed by Israel in 2007 bore multiple features resembling those of a reactor and U.N. inspectors had found a significant number of uranium traces at the site. The findings, based on analysis of satellite pictures and soil and water samples taken at the site last June, were not enough to...
