After such a great weekend with our public kickoff, I thought the press coverage in the newspapers and News 14 Carolina was great and really helped our group gain some exposure to the public. Today, however, was absolutely awesome!! I get a call around lunch time from April Rouge, whom I believe is producer at FoxNews Channel in New York. Apparently, if all goes well, they want to do a story or interview on Union County Young Republicans. I was completely thrown off by this call. After getting off the phone with her, after a five minute conversation, I was...

We are less than 24 hours away from our public debut in Union County. It has been quite a long journey, from the announcement made back in May, to the recruiting of new members, to planning meetings. The day of reckoning has finally arrived to test our wits, our mental prowess, and overall, our passion of our convictions. I know that we are small now, but we will grow hopefully to immense proportions. I know that the Democrats might be gunning for us, but we will deflect any attacks by standing up to their rhetoric. God be with us and...

We are growing faster than most people expected. We are gaining recognition by the most vital and cheapest tool, word of mouth. We just got our website up and we are ready to go after those liberals at the local, state and federal level. Our first target of course, is John Kerry. However, we are going after Beth Troutman, in the 8th District, running against Republican Robin Hayes. Ms. Troutman is using her past accolades of beauty queen contestant and assistant to the director of the "West Wing". And she is being backed by the likes of Martin Sheen and...

Kevin Moloney for The New York Times Austin Bramwell, 26, of Denver, one of five new trustees of National Review, is a leader in a group no longer characterized by uniform views. In 1954, when he was 28, William F. Buckley Jr. founded National Review to bear the standard of a fledgling conservative movement defined by three commitments: to fight Communism, to diminish the federal government and to uphold traditionalism in social affairs. That formulation held the movement together for five decades, as Ronald Reagan brought conservatives to power, George H. W. Bush declared victory in the cold war...

The campaign trail got a bit more crowded on Thursday, as P. Diddy threw himself into the fray, meeting with presidential hopeful John Kerry and later talking with young Republicans in an effort to place young people and their problems front and center in the race for the White House. Diddy has made a great deal of noise about his interest in making sure that urban issues are addressed in this year's election, and now he's taking those issues directly to Democrats and Republicans. The hip-hop mogul began by meeting Thursday with candidate Kerry at the NAACP convention in Philadelphia,...

The Secret Society Of Young Republicans Democrats Outnumber Republicans 5 To 1 In NYC Jul 15, 2004 11:53 am US/Eastern NEW YORK (AP) Hidden away in the back room of a Manhattan tavern where the secretive Sons of Liberty met before the Revolutionary War, another group of young rebels quietly gathers to escape political persecution for one evening. Shhh, it's the New York Young Republican Club. And Democrats have them surrounded. Founded in 1911 and believed to be the nation's oldest organization of young Republicans, members jokingly refer to it as a secret society -- or support group -- in...

At 6:05 this morning, I set out on my journey to Raleigh to attend a grassroots training session. During the meeting, I learned that it was gonna take a lot of work, and that volunteering every minute of the day, if necessary, was gonna be the factor to make sure that President Bush and all Republicans running for all offices. At our lunch break, we had the chance to go down the road and protest the Edwards visit near N.C. State. Many of us gathered our signs and went to the site. Immediately, we were confronted with annebriated Kerry/Edwards fanatics,...

Written from a left-wing point-of-view, this cover article analyzes the conservative movement on today's college campuses, specifically Bucknell.

PlatonNot your father's coterie of campus conservatives: from top, Charles Mitchell, a founder of the Bucknell University Conservatives Club, and his fellow members Denise Chaykun, Allison Kasic and Michael Boland. The temptation, upon entering Charles Mitchell's dorm room at Bucknell University, is to assume that he's kidding. The doormat features a picture of Hillary Clinton and the injunction, ''Wipe Liberally.'' A vast American flag festooned in red, white and blue Christmas lights adorns one wall, along with a faded Reagan-Bush '84 poster and a small photograph of the cowboy-hatted Gipper himself. The sole concession to any interest outside right-wing...
