Individuals seeking employment with the Target Corporation will soon notice a change in the company’s job applications. The Minneapolis-based company recently announced that they will no longer question applicants about their criminal history. The company said it expects to remove the question from applications nationwide in the coming year. According to the National Employment Law Project, the decision was based on a new Minnesota law and the efforts of grassroots organizations that have been pressuring the company to change their standards. “Target is finally doing the right thing by reforming its hiring policies so that qualified job applicants aren’t automatically...

The Department of Defense unit charged with recovering servicemembers’ remains abroad has been holding phony “arrival ceremonies” for seven years, with an honor guard carrying flag-draped coffins off of a cargo plane as though they held the remains returning that day from old battlefields. The Pentagon acknowledged Wednesday that no honored dead were in fact arriving, and that the planes used in the ceremonies often couldn’t even fly, and were towed into position. The story was first reported on nbcnews.com.

Language in a draft of the McConnell-Reid deal (see page 13, section 123) provided to WFPL News shows a provision that increases funding for the massive Olmsted Dam Lock in Louisville from $775 million to nearly $2. 9 billion.

Don't change the legendary Redskins name. Just change the logo," PETA writes. "By keeping the name and adopting a heart-healthy, appeeling logo, the Washington Redskins would set a powerful example on and off the field. And that's no small potatoes." PETA continues with their "ingenious" and "healthy" suggestion:

This past summer, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) changed its corporate name to Washington Trust Foundation, Inc. (WTF). Last week CAIR/WTFreleased, under the CAIR moniker, "Legislating Fear -- Islamophobia and its Impact in the Unites States." Originally scheduled for release on the day of the Navy Yard shooting massacre, CAIR presumably elected to delay release of the report until they were reasonably certain Jihad played no role in this latest example of workplace violence at an American military facility. Does CAIR seek to suppress the free speech of any group with which it disagrees? Why does CAIR label speech...

On the one hand, it’s a good idea to be respectful of religious holidays. However, in a nation like America that has people from every faith on earth, if all of us took a holiday every time some religion had a holy day, we’d never get anything done. The Council on American–Islamic Relations would apparently be just fine with that. Standing in front of the Montgomery County Council Office Building in Rockville, Northwest High School senior Anhar Karim said he is one of many students in the county who have faced a hard decision related to two Muslim holidays. Karim...

Former congressman Allen West blasted the Council on American–Islamic Relations on his social media outlets Tuesday morning by thanking CAIR for including him in their “2011-2012 Worst List Inductees” for his “intentional efforts to spread fear and prejudice.” “CAIR obviously fears those who confront them w/ the truth. I’m on their top ten “worst” list. Appreciate the honor,” the Florida Republican tweeted to his 192,000 followers, linking to a new 2013 CAIR report, titled “Legislating Fear: Islamophobia and its impact int he United States.” In the CAIR report, Mr. West is listed as someone who was at the center of...

That's right, the terrorist-sponsoring Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation Trial, FBI "consultants" and promoters of Obama's Muslim Brotherhood BFFs, just changed their name to the Washington Trust Foundation. WTF? Or perhaps more to the point, WHY? An explosive story posted Sunday by Charles Johnson at the Daily Caller reveals that CAIR, er, excuse me, WTF, has apparently been laundering money obtained from Middle East donors in violation of federal law. While it publicly presents itself as a single organization, CAIR has in fact created a multitude of 501(c)(3) organizations and a 501(c)(4), CAIR...

President Obama likes to invoke his predecessors in the Oval Office, as all Presidents do, but in one sense he is unlike the others: Presidents traditionally try to reach a rough domestic consensus if they are faced with going to war abroad. Mr. Obama wants to smooth everything over abroad so he can get back to his favorite pursuit of declaring war at home. At least that's how it's gone the last week, as Mr. Obama all but wrapped up that ghastly business in Syria and turned his attention to the real enemy—Republicans. Backed by the good offices of Vladimir...

Beyoncé was pulled off stage by a shirtless concertgoer during a performance in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Sunday night. The over-excited fan managed to put his arms around the 32-year-old singer and yank her off the elevated platform she had been singing from. However, Beyoncé's entourage were quick to step in, with two security guards rushing onto the stage to disentangle the singer from the grip of the fan. The incident occurred when Beyoncé moved around the platform and leaned forward to sing to the crowd. While most of the ticket-holders were happy just to bask in the singer's glow,...

A female CofE vicar yesterday insisted she has not sinned against God by putting an obscene bumper sticker reading 'WTFWJD' on the back of her car. The Reverend Alice Goodman stuck the sticker, standing for ‘What The F*** Would Jesus Do?', on the back of her red Subaru Legacy - sparking outrage from members of her parish. But the Reverend insists the sticker is harmless and even the former Archbishop of Canterbury Dr Rowan Williams was happy to accept a lift in her car in the past. The sign - a play on the Christian motto ‘What Would Jesus Do?’...

Russia will charge the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) $71 million to transport just one American astronaut to the International Space Station (ISS) aboard its Soyuz spacecraft in 2016. That’s more than triple the $22 million per seat the Russians charged in 2006, according to a July 8 audit report by NASA’s inspector general.

Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio warned in an op-ed on Thursday that there is “mounting evidence” Obamacare creates more problems than it solves and he called on lawmakers to stop the “disastrous” law from taking effect. “It is time to admit that Obamacare isn't going to work, decide not to waste a single cent more on it, and replace it with market-based reforms that will give people more health insurance choices and options,” Rubio penned on the Fox News website. “It's still not too late. This September may be our last best chance to do anything about this disastrous law.”...

Teams are “monitoring levels of radiation,” fire-rescue spokesman Arnold Piedrahita said Thursday afternoon on Twitter. So far, “minimum” levels have been detected, he said.

As someone who does not care for the current sitting President, the word play game began while researching some of his more memorable catch phrases to see what fun I could have in using “Obama-ese.” The first catch phrase that has been uttered more than Scarlett O’Hara’s famous “fiddle-dee-dee” is – Let me be clear. One could gather from this phrase that the next words would be very important, or a warning is being issued or there would be no misunderstanding in the meaning. The next catch phrase has to be an all-time favorite – Win the Future. This one...

You wouldn’t want to deport an Al Qaeda serial rapist. Just think of all the cultural enrichment he can offer Denmark. (via Religion of Peace) The rape of the 10-year-old girl triggered strong feelings in the local community. It occurred on Saturday November, 19, 2011 in a wooded area in ‘Lyngens Kvarter’ in Gullestrup just outside Herning. The perpetrator forced the two little girls to follow him. The youngest girl managed to escape, but he was able to rape the 10-year-old. Next time, I’m sure he’ll do better. Now that Mohammed has been given a second chance to follow in the...
