President Donald Trump granted the U.S. military more flexibility in conducting operations in Somalia on Wednesday, declaring the country a "war zone" and easing restrictions that protect civilians. According to an affidavit in support of the criminal complaint, Majid Al Mashhadani, brother of Yousif Al Mashhandani and Hasan, admitted in 2005 to kidnapping and holding a U.S. citizen and others hostage for months. The three defendants are permanent residents living in the U.S. since 2008. When they applied to become naturalized citizens, none disclosed their relationship with Majid Al Mashhadani. A man has been arrested after trying to drive a car into a crowd on a busy street in Antwerp in Belgium. According to initial reports, the suspect is of North African origin and weapons were reportedly found in the car.

A man has been shot dead after grabbing a solider's gun at Orly airport in Paris, French officials say. He was killed by the security forces in a shop after seizing the weapon in the airport's southern terminal.
