Italian president joins Rome’s Jews in marking ’82 attack October 10, 2012 (JTA) -- Italy’s President Giorgio Napolitano participated in a ceremony marking the 30th anniversary of a terror attack on Rome’s main synagogue that killed a toddler. Speaking Wednesday at the commemoration in Rome, the city's chief rabbi, Riccardo Di Segni, said the Oct. 9, 1982 attack had not been an “isolated event.” Di Segni said it had taken place amid a virulent “campaign to demonize Jews” in the wake of the Israeli war with Lebanon in the summer of 1982 and the massacre of civilians at the Sabra...

Turkish military jets have forced a Syrian passenger plane to land at Ankara airport on suspicion that it might be carrying weapons or other military equipment. The incident came amid heightened tensions between Turkey and Syria which have sparked fears of a wider regional conflict. The Syrian Air airliner was travelling from Moscow when it was intercepted by F16 jets as it entered Turkish air space and was escorted to the capital's Esenboga Airport, state-run TRT television reported.

It comes as a surprise to many when anti-Semitism is propagated by people and denominations operating under the banner of Christianity. The latest incident comes from a letter sent to the United States Congress by the head of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), Mark S. Hanson, and his liberal church cohorts telling the Congress to investigate Israel and consider halting military aid to them. That letter was broadcast far and wide by the ELCA News Service, with the subtitle “ELCA, other churches call for investigation of military aid to Israel.” So make no mistake, this is a call...

WASHINGTON -- The former head of a 16-member U.S. military team in Libya said Wednesday the consulate in Benghazi, where the U.S. ambassador and three other Americans were killed, never had the forces it needed to protect itself. Lt. Col. Andrew Wood told the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee that U.S. security was so weak that in April, only one U.S. diplomatic security agent was stationed in Benghazi. The committee hearing followed assertions Tuesday night by the State Department that it never concluded that the Sept. 11 attack stemmed from protests over an American-made video ridiculing Islam. Ambassador Chris...

This is the most stunning and forceful letter I have read from the Afghanistan war. It was written in 2010 from Afghanistan by Colonel Harry Tunnell, the Brigade Commander of 5/2 Stryker Brigade Combat Team. After this letter, Colonel Tunnell was investigated and the normal smear campaign unfolded. Having been embedded with his Brigade in 2010, it became obvious that they were put into a no-win situation, with troops spread over several provinces in Afghanistan.

The United States military has secretly sent a task force of more than 150 planners and other specialists to Jordan to help the armed forces there handle a flood of Syrian refugees, prepare for the possibility that Syria will lose control of its chemical weapons and be positioned should the turmoil in Syria expand into a wider conflict. The task force, which has been led by a senior American officer, is based at a Jordanian military training center built into an old rock quarry north of Amman. It is now largely focused on helping Jordanians handle the estimated 180,000 Syrian...

TUNISIAN CHILDREN’S MAGAZINE SHOWS KIDS HOW TO MAKE A MOLOTOV COCKTAIL ... Sadly not a misprint. Because that’s the first thing that’s on any kid’s mind, how to light someone else on fire. Kind of reminiscent of the Hamas’ kiddie program featuring mice and bunnies that incite children to commit acts of terrorism. So no folks, this is nothing new. RTNews: A Tunisian children’s magazine “Kaws Kouzah” has recently published a detailed step-by-step instruction of how to make a Molotov cocktail. Now the periodical is facing a lawsuit for endangering kids lives. The Tunisian Ministry for Women and Family Affairs...

Eleven years to the day after U.S. troops first landed in Afghanistan, an American soldier who says he was deployed three times to Afghanistan and once to Iraq tried to give himself up to authorities Sunday after deserting his active-duty unit more than a month ago. Sgt. Micah Turner, 24, is believed to have first revealed himself as a deserter from Afghanistan in the Washington, D.C., area Saturday, before delivering a speech about his so-called "unauthorized absence" the following day at the Veterans for Peace office in New York.

In an extraordinary cover-up in the continuing campaign of disinformation and treason, the Obama administration blamed our freedoms and system of governance for the bloody act of war in Libya on September 11, 2012 that his administration was ultimately responsible for. Read this. Obama administration flummoxed at how to deal with rise of al qaeda in North Africa that they helped create Practically everything the Obama adminstration tells the American people is a lie. Obama aided and abetted the al qaeda revolution in Libya, dismantled our security forces, and fed our embassy personnel to the jihadi savages. And Obama and...

Israeli officials have deployed a Patriot surface-to-air anti-missile battery to northern Israel Monday, in an apparent response to the appearance of a mysterious drone in Israeli airspace over the weekend. On Saturday, an Israel Air Force jet shot down an unmanned aerial drone over the Negev desert in southern Israel. Israeli officials said they believed the craft had originated in Lebanon and was controlled by the Lebanese terror group Hezbollah. According to the Israel Defense Force, the drone entered Israel from Mediterranean, flying over the Gaza Strip and then over the Negev. It was shot down south of the West...

The outrage and the violent protests organised by Islamists across the world have nothing to do with the supposed desecration of religion. Instead, these incidents are calibrated attempts by so-called religious leaders to firm up their politics, even at the cost of people’s lives Even before the crowd from the previous protest had returned home, a new mob had gathered on the streets. It had been gaining strength throughout the day as hundreds arrived loaded in trucks and buses, and more people from the outside kept pouring in. Over the next couple of hours, the crowd swelled in numbers and...

BENGHAZI, Libya — More than three weeks after attacks in this city killed the U.S. ambassador to Libya and three other Americans, sensitive documents remained only loosely secured in the wreckage of the U.S. mission on Wednesday, offering visitors easy access to delicate information about American operations in Libya. Documents detailing weapons collection efforts, emergency evacuation protocols, the full internal itinerary of Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens’s trip and the personnel records of Libyans who were contracted to secure the mission were among the items scattered across the floors of the looted compound when a Washington Post reporter and an interpreter...

Really disturbing news out of Afghanistan that may be being overlooked with all the Presidential election news going on. The New York Times reported in August that the number of U.S. soldiers killed in Afghanistan has more than doubled since Pres. Obama took office. From Michael Yon: “Afghan forces are infested with Taliban suicide killers. Two more “green-on-blue” attacks have occurred in the last few days, killing six more troops. Days ago, the Taliban executed an audacious attack on Camp Bastion in southern Afghanistan where Prince Harry is stationed. Under darkness without moon, at least fifteen attackers breached the wire,...

Exec says 'space is limited' but 'we run them when we can' During the Civil War, communities in both the North and South would gather to read the casualty lists from places such as Gettysburg, Manassas and Antietam. And in each subsequent war for the U.S., newspapers would list the cost to the nation’s brave sons and, later, even daughters. During the Vietnam War, CBS, ABC and NBC nightly broadcast battlefield reports. The cameras captured bloody scenes previously not fully realized by the public. So, too, with Afghanistan and Iraq, one constant was the daily “toll box” in newspapers, even...

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. officials in Washington denied repeated requests from Americans in Libya for more security at the U.S. mission in Benghazi before last month's attack that killed four Americans there, two Republican lawmakers said on Tuesday. U.S. Representatives Darrell Issa and Jason Chaffetz wrote a letter to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton demanding details of the requests for more security - which they said were made amid numerous attacks on Westerners in Libya in recent months. ... "Multiple U.S. federal government officials have confirmed to the committee that, prior to the September 11 attack, the U.S. mission in...
