This story is hanky in several ways.

But he later increased the price to $10,000 a kilo, citing his own costs and expenses, including paying people along the route."

Transport prices on a "per kilo" basis are way too high to begin with and then, in this story, they are increased exorbitantly....B.S.

Also, it sounds like Mr. Toure' is nothing more than a flim-flam opportunist with a fast talk and shaky walk.
These three sound like nothing more than 'low-hanging fruit' rustled-up and brought in for a press conference, a D.A.'s resume and sound bites on the MSM.

I’m not sure where I heard it, but it also may be the similarity in corporate colors. There is no relation between the store locations here or anywhere I have lived. The newest Supercenter near me was first a regular Walmart which they tore town and built the Supercenter in the same spot. But my husband’s ex-wife (now a regional manager) is a long-time Walmart employee and he recalls when she told him that Walmart had bought Lowe’s, that it was a big deal. It may be the information was garbled and being a lower level employee at the time she got it wrong, I don’t know. But he was very surprised when I told him it wasn’t the case.

We should get our troops out of there and bring them home.

Beat me to it. I keeep repeating Saddam's curses to Iran before his hanging. Same war, only when we pull out of Iraq, Iran is going to have a lot of fun wreaking havoc on their neighbors. It’s been about eighteen or nineteen months since I’ve seen Lisa. She lives in Bowling Green, while I am in Elizabethtown (E-Town to the locals) which is about 80 miles away.

He was a great guy.

One funny thing I remember about him was that his desk was located over at the cabinet design center, which was a little cubbyhole that was all but cut off from the rest of the store. Rob and Danny, the Cabinet Specialist, were both huge Batman fans, so their area was known as the Bat Cave and they were called the Dynamic Duo.

There are so many heroes amid these tragedies. You must miss your friend very much, although I’m sure you’re also very proud of him. He acted with great valor. I hope you have many warm memories of him.

On the morning of April 17, 2004 a large convoy, which included Rob's 2123rd Transportation Company, was moving a large amount of equipment through Ad Diwaniyah when they were ambushed by upwards of 200 insurgents. Rob's Humvee was the first vehicle to enter the kill zone and he was struck by small arms fire. Despite his severe injuries, he ordered his driver to turn around and they stopped the rest of the convoy short of the kill zone. Unfortunately, they were cut off by other insurgents and Rob died of blood loss before the fight ended.

The battle lasted for several hours before the US forces were able to drive off the insurgents (mainly after the transport crews unloaded the tanks they were transporting and used them against the insurgents), but over twenty Americans were injured and three were killed.

For his actions in organizing the convoy's defense, Rob was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star.

Rob's wife, Lisa, was six months pregnant at the time of his death. His son, Peyton, was born in mid-July.

It is kind of funny ... you aren’t the first one I have run into thinking there was a connection between WalMart and Lowes. But there really isn’t

I suspect it has to do with growth patterns of both companies. Walmart in the last 5 years sold stores that were less than 5-7 years old and built SuperWalmart’s within a mile or so of the original.

Just so happened that Lowes grabbed those previous Walmart facilities and easily converted them into their own retail space. Maybe coincidence or maybe a good business relationship between the two .. I don’t know ... both have benefitted. I know of at least 6 Walmart to Lowes conversions in this area. Perhaps that is where the “assumption” got started.

He wouldn’t be so wild if the West did not grovel before him. I bet that old Ishmael is not very wild in China because he knows he’ll get his a$$ handed to him.

I didn’t know Lowe’s was owned by Wal-Mart. That explains their efficiency.

They aren’t next to each other that I’ve ever seen. I read or heard that somewhere but I stand corrected. I checked and Walmart is not even a majority stockholder.

Sorry, but Wally World does not own Lowe's; it is a publicly traded company that is almost 25% employee owned.

The reason you usually see Walmart and Lowe's next to each other is an agreement signed between the two companies about fifteen years ago.

Back in April 2004, Rob Henderson, a good friend of mine who was also a manager at the Lowe’s store in Glasgow, Kentucky, was killed while serving with the KY National Guard in Iraq. Corporate office told the store managers at both the Glasgow and Bowling Green stores (his wife worked at the BG store) to close down so that everyone could attend the funeral.

Lowes gives Me a 10% Military discount everytime I go in there. So try to take all of my Business to them. They have done this for over 2 years that I know of. Home Depot will, but a little more problem, usually requires Mananger.

Lowe’s is owned by Walmart. Lowe’s and Home Depot are close by, and right across the street from each other. Which is very convenient for everyone lol They both do a brisk business but I think Lowe’s is a bit better and definitely caters more to contractors and has a very knowledgeable staff.

Don’t get me started.

Home Depot fired an employee for wearing a cross. We haven’t set foot in there since that happened.

Lowe’s is a good company. Their stores are MUCH nicer than HD, their employees have some professional knowledge, and I’ve never gotten an assistant/associate - whatever they’re called - with an attitude or who just told me whatever BS they could think of to get rid of me. Their selection and quality are much better than HD’s and the prices are comparable. We’re completing a total remodel right now so we’ve bought tons of stuff. There’s just no comparison. Lowe’s is far superior to HD.

I was going on my knowledge since my son has had to pay for all his trips home, but I wasn’t sure if there were exceptions. Now I do know if you have the time and they have the room, you can hitch a ride with military aircraft for free.

While in the big scheme of things it obviously would be money spent on well-deserving people, but do you think it is realistic for the military to pay for on-leave travel? Because if it was free, I’d probably go to Hawaii or the Bahamas. I would like to see perhaps the first x dollars reimbursed, something like that would be reasonable.
