Okay, now that the Democrats have a presumptive ticket, it’s time to assess them as a pair. This is one of the few instances when the whole is less than the sum of its parts. That’s especially true when the theme the pair apparently wants to advance is “truth.” Several months ago I wrote in detail about three would-be Democratic candidates, two that I knew personally and one by reputation. They were Joe Lieberman, John Kerry and John Edwards. (Yep, it was back when Lieberman was still a faint possibility, and Kerry was a third-place candidate.) Here’s the short version...

NEW YORK - Whoopi Goldberg has now lost her endorsement deal with Slim-Fast weight loss products. The reason given is that the executives at Slim-Fast were unhappy at the comic for remarks made at a John Kerry fundraiser last week. The comments, according to those who attended, unfavorably compared President Bush to Goldberg's own sexual organ. "We were offended by the manner in which Ms. Goldberg chose to express herself and sincerely regret that her recent remarks offended some of our consumers. Ads featuring Ms. Goldberg will no longer be on the air," said Slim-Fast general manager Terry Olson. Following...

Florida-based Slim-Fast said it was "disappointed" in Goldberg's remarks at last Thursday's $7.5 million star-studded fund-raiser at Radio City Music Hall in New York. July 13, 2004 -- WASHINGTON — Some Republican activists are launching a boycott of SlimFast diet products to protest SlimFast spokeswoman Whoopi Goldberg's X-rated rant against President Bush at a New York fund-raiser for Democrat John Kerry last week. Chat pages on pro-Bush Web sites like FreeRepublic.com are posting links for complaints to SlimFast or parent company Unilever, along with reports from angry consumers about what they wrote in their complaints. A typical one: "Realize that when Goldberg insults our president, particularly in such a vulgar fashion, she alienates half the country . . . Can SlimFast really afford to...

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., urged the Kerry-Edwards campaign on Sunday to release a controversial videotape of their Thursday night fund-raiser at Radio City Music Hall, where foul-mouthed comedienne Whoopi Goldberg compared President Bush to female genitalia. "I want the tape from New York," Graham told ABC's "This Week" host George Stephanopoulos. "I want to see the standing ovation they got in New York." Stephanopoulos, who hadn't planned to discuss the subject, asked the South Carolina Republican to explain. "There was this hatefest in New York, where people who don't mind being called liberal got up and ran President Bush into...

Real Democratic Values? Whoopi!Written by Doc FarmerMonday, July 12, 2004 There was a bit of a ''do'' last week. You probably didn’t hear about it, though, if you are a slave to the alphabet news. A party, a fundraiser in Radio City Music Hall, to raise some extra money for the Kerry/Edwards campaign. Thursday was the night, and all the stars there just glittered for the paparazzi and the DNC hoi polloi. At least, those with enough dosh to rub shoulders with the high-and-mighty of the lib/dem/soc/commie set. Anti-capitalists at their finest, paying thousands (presumably with non-anti-capitalist earnings) to...

July 9, 2004 -- Whoopi Goldberg delivered an X-rated rant full of sexual innuendoes against President Bush last night at a Radio City gala that raised $7.5 million for the newly minted Democratic ticket of John Kerry and John Edwards. Waving a bottle of wine, she fired off a stream of vulgar sexual wordplays on Bush's name in a riff about female genitalia, and boasted that she'd refused to let Team Kerry clear her material. "I Xeroxed my behind and I folded it up in an envelope and I sent it back with a big kiss mark on because we're...

Whoopi: Bush “Doing to Bathroom What He's Done to the Economy!” NBC’s Today on Tuesday devoted a segment to Whoopi Goldberg promoting the then-upcoming Tuesday night episode of her sit-com in which she trashed President Bush repeatedly as her character seemingly channeled the real-life political views of the actress/comedian. In the sit-com, titled Whoopi, Goldberg plays a former Broadway performer who now runs a small Manhattan hotel. In the episode, she learns that Bush will be driving through the neighborhood that day. She declares: “Tell him to stop by the UN and apologize to Europe, starting with France.” It ends...

Hollywood, CA — The pro-abortion Feminist Majority Foundation on Monday launched its nationwide "Never Go Back" campaign, which aims to keep abortion legal in the United States. And it's receiving help from several of Hollywood's elite actresses and musicians. Katherine Spillar, executive vice president of the abortion advocacy group who spoke at the campaign launch, said that the Supreme Court could have vacancies as soon as this summer, and those vacancies could threaten Roe v. Wade. Spillar emphasized the importance of Senate leadership — especially pro-abortion Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle (D-SD) — in questioning all of President Bush's judicial...
