A couple have divorced after the husband was caught having a “virtual affair” with a female character in an online game. David Pollard and Amy Taylor met in an online chat room in 2003 and married after discovering a shared love of the internet game Second Life. To his wife's horror, Mr Pollard's interaction included virtual infidelity with a female character playing the role of a prostitute. Ms Taylor said yesterday that her husband had been guilty of the “ultimate betrayal”, even...

It's built on six hydraulic legs, is solar powered, wind powered and fully sustainable. Better still, it can house up to three people and has a living room, kitchen, toilet, bed, wood stove and mainframe computer which powers the legs. Designers say it provides an ideal solution to...

Twenty years after the South Carolinian monster known as Lizard Man was last heard of, he has returned, but this time to feast on the front end of a very delicious Dodge Mini-Van. In the silence of the night, Lizard Man managed to chew the hell out of the hood, grill and wheel wells. In addition to the poor van (I wonder if the insurance covers monster attacks?) the Lizard Man also attacked a box where some of the owner's 20 cats slept and now the cats are missing. Lizard Man is a reported seven-foot tall beast with green skin...

They are not the results either of any kind of computer animation.

BENNINGTON, Vt. — Things have really been booming at Southern Vermont Orchards. And it's been keeping people up at night. After a series of hailstorms devastated the orchard's apple crop in 2007, the owner resorted this summer to using a hail cannon, a noisemaking machine whose sound waves supposedly disrupt the formation of hailstones. Scientists snicker at such devices. But farmers swear by 'em. As for the neighbors, they just swear......

Portland, Maine - An adult adoption involving lesbian partners and a claim to a share of a family fortune built on IBM has been annulled, bouncing the case to Maine's highest court. Johnson said, among other things... ``I would not dream of being a party to distracting attention from that historic effort,'' he said in a statement. ``I believe Barack Obama's candidacy for president of the United States is the most exciting and important of my lifetime.'' Johnson's ties to Countrywide became a campaign issue after Republicans pointed out that Obama had been critical of the mortgage lender in campaign speeches. Johnson's role as a political insider also contrasted with Obama's pledge to bring change to Washington. Johnson, 64, said that ``blatantly false statements and misrepresentations'' were written about him.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Astronomers are baffled after finding an exotic type of star called a pulsar apparently locked in an elongated orbit around a star much like the sun -- an arrangement defying what had been known about such objects. The rapidly spinning pulsar -- an extraordinarily dense object created when a massive star exploded as a supernova -- is called J1903+0327 and is located about 21,000 light years from Earth, the astronomers said. A light year is about 6 trillion miles, the distance light travels in a year. "The big question is -- how in the heck did this...
