Rush Limbaugh has drawn the ire of celebrity lawyer Gloria Allred, who sent a letter to the Palm Beach County state attorney requesting an investigation into whether the popular radio host should be prosecuted for calling a law student a “slut” and “prostitute” last week. “Mr. Limbaugh targeted his attack on a young law student who was simply exercised her free speech and her right to testify before congress on a very important issue to millions of American women and he vilified her. He defamed her and engaged in unwarranted, tasteless and exceptionally damaging attacks on her,” Allred told POLITICO...

States imperilled by warming rebel at climate talksBy Nina Chestney and Jon Herskovitz Saturday, December 10, 2011 **SNIP** The U.N. negotiators regrouped in 2010 in Cancun, where a more modest programme of action and a set of voluntary pledges to curb carbon emissions were drawn up. Scientists say those promises are not yet enough to limit global warming to the two degrees Celsius judged necessary to stave off the most devastating effects of climate change. U.N. reports released in the last month show time is running out. A warming planet has already intensified droughts and floods, increased crop failures and...

A second woman who claims she was sexually harassed by Herman Cain identified herself last night, as the Republican presidential hopeful said he would undergo a lie detector test to prove his innocence. Karen Kraushaar, a US Treasury spokesman, was revealed as one of two women to have received five–figure payouts from the National Restaurant Association after complaining about Mr Cain in the 1990s. Mrs Kraushaar, 55, of Maryland, last night described Mr Cain as "a monster".

The Rev. Pat Robertson, who once said his prayers turned a hurricane away from Washington, D.C., feels quake damage to the Washington Monument may carry a message from “the Lord.” The TV evangelist cited a four-foot crack in the Washington Monument, caused by Tuesday’s 5.8 earthquake, as a possible sign from the supernatural. He did not discuss greater damage inflicted on spires of the Washington Cathedral. “Ladies and gentlemen I don’t want to get weird on this so please take it for what it’s worth,” the Rev. Pat, a former Republican presidential candidate, told his TV audience.

Ron Paul wouldn't have approved Osama bin Laden operation By: Juana Summers May 12, 2011 07:27 AM EDT Ron Paul says he would not have authorized the mission that led to the death of Osama bin Laden, and that President Barack Obama should have worked with the Pakistani government instead of authorizing a raid. "I think things could have been done somewhat differently," Paul said this week. "I would suggest the way they got Khalid [Sheikh] Mohammed. We went and cooperated with Pakistan. They arrested him, actually, and turned him over to us, and he's been in prison. Why can't...

A Brooklyn nun from a fringe Christian sect has confessed to an unholy lie: telling cops she was sexually attacked and left unconscious in a snowbank, sources said Monday. After a police search for a hulking black man was launched, the 26-year-old white woman from the Apostles of Infinite Love convent in East Flatbush recanted, the sources said. She told cops she made up the story in an attempt to cover up a consensual sex romp with a bodega worker inside the Glenwood Ave. residence. A woman in religious garb who answered the door at the convent said the nun,...

Last night I was talking about Presidential Directive 51, but I think this is a little bigger than that. There is a bigger picture that I've come across and Directive 51 is just the official piece of legislation that allows complete government control. In my research I came across an article about COINTELPRO which is a program started by the FBI in the 60's to destroy dissenters, the Church commission has even accused COINTELPRO of MLK's death. Also, I've come across two important articles about the market, one being J.P. Morgan shorting the silver market, second one being the major...

Michael Jackson faked his high-pitched voice to "act like a boy", according to reports. Jackson's biographer Ian Halperin has claimed that the singer, who died of acute propofol intoxication last year, felt that the public would like him more if he sounded vulnerable and childlike. The director of upcoming documentary Gone Too Soon said: "He wanted to act like a boy. He felt it was a way for the public to like him more." His spiritual adviser Reverend June Gatlin added: "His voice was not high pitched. It was deep - a real man's voice." Gatlin also revealed that Jackson...

“Marriage is a cultural thing.” So began a very good sermon that I recently heard. My mind was set in rapid motion as I considered the raging arguments that are now taking place all over the country. What is marriage? How should we codify marriage in the laws of our land? The discussions become very sticky when our gay friends enter the debate and ask for equal treatment under the law. The exchanges become very heated when a participant demands that we turn to the Bible for answers that will once and for all settle the issues. Many well-meaning people...

So Michael Jackson's body was going to be returned to his ranch at Neverland, where it would lie in state in a glass coffin for his helplessly grieving fans to say their goodbyes. It would be borne there in a white 'fairyland' horse-drawn coach as sobbing crowds line the route. Then would come the bad-taste funeral to end all bad-taste funerals, an orgy of saccharine camp with yet more artificially whipped-up sentiment.

She admits that she has only been a "real Republican for less than a year," and she is anything but a die-hard GOP conservative. She is a "moderate" that currently supports gay marriage, stem-cell research and in 2004, she voted for the Democrat, John Kerry. What...

UFOs and aliens may not neatly match the Hollywood depiction of advanced races from far off planets reaching us through worm holes or inter-dimensional portals. Daily sightings of anomalous airborn crafts worldwide and accounts of alien abduction might find an explanation in something as handy as your Bible. The aliens may indeed be fallen angels. The very first Christian symposium on aliens will address this idea July 3-5, organized by Guy Malone, author and co-founder of Alien Resistence - an organization that studies Biblical ideas on the UFO and alien abduction phenomena.

When it comes to global warming, the canary in the coal mine isn't a canary at all. It's a purple finch. As the temperature across the U.S. has gotten warmer, the purple finch has been spending its winters more than 400 miles farther north than it used to. And it's not alone. An Audubon Society study to be released Tuesday found that more than half of 305 birds species in North America, a hodgepodge that includes robins, gulls, chickadees and owls, are spending the winter about 35 miles farther north than they did 40 years ago. The purple finch was...

The California secretary of state should refuse to allow the state's 55 Electoral College votes to be cast in the 2008 presidential election until President-elect Barack Obama verifies his eligibility to hold the office, alleges a California court petition filed on behalf of former presidential candidate Alan Keyes and others. The legal action today is just the latest is a series of challenges, some of which have gone as high as the U.S. Supreme Court, over the issue of Obama's status as a "natural-born citizen," a requirement set by the U.S. Constitution. WND senior reporter Jerome Corsi even traveled to...

The [Connecticut] state Senate has given final legislative approval to a bill aimed at reducing the pollution that causes global warming. Senators voted 35-0 in favor of the legislation and sent it to Gov. M. Jodi Rell. The House of Representatives approved it earlier. If she signs it into law, Connecticut will be the fifth state to adopt mandatory limits on global warming pollution. The state passed legislation back in 2004. But that law, which established benchmarks for air pollution reduction, was voluntary. The new bill would require total emissions to be capped at 10 percent below 1990 levels by...

Well, it is likely that Sen. Barack Obama won't be going back to Trinity United Church of Christ. Not after this. On Tuesday, Obama responded to the Rev. Jeremiah Wright's ill-timed defense by condemning his former pastor's fresh comments as "ridiculous," "outrageous" and "appalling." "When he states and then amplifies such ridiculous proposition as the U.S. government somehow being involved in AIDS, when he suggests that Minister Farrakhan somehow represents one of the greatest voices in the 20th and 21st century, when he equates the United States wartime effort with terrorism, then there are no excuses," Obama said during a...

Last April, The Wall Street Journal published an op-ed piece by me titled "Mr. Spitzer Has Gone Too Far." In it I expressed my belief that in America, everyone--including Hank Greenberg--is innocent until proven guilty. "Something has gone seriously awry," I wrote, "when a state attorney general can go on television and charge one of America's best CEOs and most generous philanthropists with fraud before any charges have been brought, before the possible defendant has even had a chance to know what he personally is alleged to have done, and while the investigation is still under way." Since there have...

Giving birth is a burden on the world. This is according to British born, Toni Vernelli, 35, who had an abortion 10 years ago to ensure her carbon footprint would be kept to a minimum, the U.K.'s Daily Mail reported Sunday. Vernelli -- who works for an environmental charity -- was later sterilized to help "protect the planet", the Mail reported. "Having children is selfish. It's all about maintaining your genetic line at the expense of the planet," Vernelli told the Daily Mail, adding she believes bringing new life into the world only adds to the problem. It might be the end of the world's most phallically sad SUV. But has the damage been done? The late Rev. Jerry Falwell? He was exactly like a Hummer H2. Oh yes he was. It's a fine line between quixotic and committed, and just where Ron Paul falls is an open question as the Texas congressman pursues the 2008 Republican presidential nomination. The case for quixotic: It's a unique conceit to run as an anti-Iraq-war candidate in a generally pro-war party; to vow to eliminate myriad federal agencies, including the CIA, the IRS and the Federal Reserve; and to oppose every act of the federal government not specifically approved in the Constitution (including niceties such as congressional gold medals for such people as Mother Teresa, Rosa Parks and Pope John Paul II)."I've advocated over the...

Monday, April 2, 2007 3:38 AM I propose a bill for free government housing and a stipend of $15,000 per year for each indigent individual in this country. And, no, not everyone can work! This bill would end homelessness and high unemployment and too much dependence on the churches. The government can print more money and can tax the wealthy to pay for this necessity. A coalition of church and state is needed to grant this freedom from want and need. Let us proceed onward and upward to a national, democratic one-party system, with a president and a Congress to...
