His collegiate followers are receptive to Vermont U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders exhortations that the United States should be more like Sweden and its Scandinavian neighbors. Yet and still, the self-identified socialist should be careful what he asks for: He may not want to get it. "Although Norway, Sweden, and Denmark have social-welfare states, they outrank the United States on a variety of other economic-freedom indices calculated by the Heritage Foundation and the Cato Institute; they have, for example, less business regulation, lower corporate tax rates, and more trade freedom," Emily Ekins writes in the May 23, 2016 issue of National...

Surprise! After Secret Talks, Small Vermont City Gets Muslim Migrants Mayor wanted no public discussion of “possible links to terrorism.” May 17, 2016 Robert Spencer The Boston Globe reported last Friday that Christopher Louras, mayor of the small Vermont city of Rutland, “has unveiled a plan, developed in near-secrecy, to resettle 100 Syrian refugees who fled the onslaught of the Islamic State and are exiled in sprawling Jordanian camps.” The plan will “gradually send Rutland more Syrian refugees than are currently living anywhere else in New England.” While the Globe is clearly pleased at Rutland’s “instant cultural diversity...

Saturday morning during two votes of the convention....called by the party’s chairwoman, Roberta Lange... After the votes, Sanders supporters flooded the space in front of the stage where party officials sat, some of them hurling a host of epithets specifically at Lange and the party's vice chairman, Chris Wicker. ... The following day, some Sanders supporters staged a protest outside of the state party’s offices where they wrote on the building, “you are scum” and “fire Roberta.” Lange’s cellphone number and other personal contact information were subsequently leaked online, and state party officials say she has received thousands of death...

Burlington College Feels the Bern! Will Close Thanks to Crushing Debt Acquired by Mrs. Bernie Sanders One of the reasons Bernie Sanders is doing well with Millennials is because he’s promising free college for everyone. Carlos Beruff, a Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate from Florida, repeatedly referred to President Barack Obama as an “animal” at a county GOP meeting on Thursday. Addressing party faithful at a St. John’s County GOP gathering, Beruff accused Obama of destroying America and its military. “Unfortunately, for seven and a half years this animal we call president, because he’s an animal, OK — seven and a half years, has surgically and with thought and very smart, intelligent manner, destroyed this country and dismantled the military under not one, not two, but three secretary of defenses,” he said. “And they’ve...

Hillary Clinton so far has been able to skate through the Democratic presidential primary without having to truly confront what ultimately may be her biggest hurdles to the White House: numerous scandals and controversies that so far have taken a backseat in her tooth-and-nail fight with Sen. Bernard Sanders. Mr. Sanders decided early in the race to virtually ignore his opponent’s still-unfolding State Department email scandal, foreign donations to the Clinton Foundation and other politically treacherous issues that could spell trouble for the former first lady as she heads toward a November showdown with her Republican opponent. What Mr. Sanders...

This is really happening, people. Either Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump is going to be the next president of the United States. Just saying it still feels strange, but then again, pretty much everything about this most shocking and chaotic of election seasons has been deeply surreal.

Clinton's camp thinks her résumé will be enough to carry her to the White House. No one should be that sure. No matter what you think about Hillary Clinton as the presidential primaries wind down, there is one undeniable fact that lingers in the background. Despite having had enormous advantages from the start of the campaign—no serious competition from within the party, solid support from national party leaders, a massive war chest and a nationwide grassroots network built over the course of decades in national politics—Clinton has struggled to put away a 74-year-old Jewish socialist who has had almost no...

Chaos erupted at the Nevada Democratic convention on Saturday as supporters of Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders clashed over the awarding of the state’s 35 pledged delegates. Clinton edged Sanders in the Nevada caucus on Feb. 20th (52.6 percent to 47.3 percent). On April 2, however, the state party held its Clark County convention and Sanders mobilized more delegates than the Clinton campaign (1,613 to 1,298), which swung the delegate count in his favor. At the state convention this weekend, the final step in the process, Sanders supporters hoped to secure the lion’s share of the remaining 12 delegates. Instead,...

Did you know that Hillary supporter Barney Frank “was booed and shouted at as a "sellout" who should "go back to Massachusetts" by Sanders supporters at the Maine State Democratic Convention on Saturday? Somehow, the mainstream media managed to overlook this sign of the divisive passions rending the Democratic Party as its establishment strong-arms Hillary Clinton. Along with the incredible story of the Nevada State Convention where DNC officials fled, violence erupted and John Law had to be called in, signs are that the party is falling apart.

Atlanta Police Department spokesman Donald Hannah says in a statement that Pierce was arrested early Saturday morning at the Loews Atlanta Hotel. Wendell Pierce of ‘The Wire’ Arrested After Fight Over Bernie Sanders The bitter Democratic primary has now led to a Hollywood actor’s arrest: Hillary Clinton supporter Wendell Pierce was detained by Atlanta police early Sunday after an alleged assault on two Sanders supporters. Politics ain’t beanbag but, if press reports are to be believed, a well-known Hollywood actor and producer may have thrown more than a multi-colored children’s toy at a couple in Atlanta. Wendell Pierce, who turned in standout performances for HBO’s The Wire and Treme, was arrested after an altercation early Sunday morning at an Atlanta hotel. A...

Utahns aren't feeling the Bern so much anymore as it looks like they're starting to line up behind the presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump. One month after a poll showing Bernie Sanders would beat Donald Trump head-to-head in Utah, Trump has opened a lead over Sanders. He also leads Hillary Clinton after that same poll showed him tied with the likely Democratic nominee. Trump leads Sanders 43-37%, which is a significant reversal from April when Sanders led Trump 49-34%. 20% are undecided between the two. In April, Trump was tied with Hillary Clinton at 38% apiece. Now, Trump leads Clinton...

In November, Donald Trump would be the choice of 44 percent of West Virginia Democratic primary voters who supported Bernie Sanders Tuesday, CBS News early exit polling found. But support for Trump in the general election is largely driven by independents who were allowed to vote in West Virginia's Democratic primary. More than half would back Trump against either Hillary Clinton or Sanders.

The violence and incivility at these Republican political events is simply intolerable. I don’t understand why voters would put up with such rudeness and the fundamental breakdown of what is supposed to be the proud tradition of our great American experiment. If the GOP continues on this path, the voters will surely reject them in November and… Wait. What? This was the Democrats? (Daily Caller) Upset Bernie Sanders supporters booed California Sen. Barbara Boxer , a Hillary Clinton supporter, during a contentious Nevada Democratic Convention Saturday.“We need civility in the Democratic Party, civility,” Boxer said as Sanders supporters booed the...

Participants were “smudged,” meaning the smoke from the sweetgrass was wafted over them before they could enter the sacred circle and begin a Wiccan ritual to support Sanders ahead of Oregon’s primary on Tuesday. “Welcome to the ‘Feeling the Bern ritual,’” Leigha Lafleur, 41, told the gathering as she prepared to lead them in the “amplification of positive energy of Bernie Sanders and the progressive movement.”

Hillary Clinton is not only an “enabler,” she is a “terrorist” who “terrorizes” her husband’s alleged lovers and women who accuse him of sexual assault, says Dallas lawyer Dolly Kyle, who says she had a long-running affair with Bill Clinton. In an interview, Kyle claimed that “Billy” Clinton, as she called him, once boasted to her that he had had sex with about 2,000 women. She described Clinton as a “sex addict” who has some “sick, sick need” to “control women.” “Aaron, Hillary is an enabler is about the nicest thing you can say about her,” stated Kyle when asked...

FULL TITLE: "DNC leaders flee Nevada State Dem Convention, call in sheriff’s deputies and hotel security as dispute over delegates escalates into violence"(video at link) Bitterness and violence erupted yesterday at the Democrats’ Nevada State Convention in Las Vegas, as 64 Sanders delegates were disqualified, allowing Clinton to take 7 of the 12 delegates up for grabs. Party officials there ignored a motion from the floor and rammed through a vote according to the wishes of the Clinton campaign. It’s almost as if the Hillary faction genuinely fears for the nomination it supposedly has sewn up. Along the way Barbara...

There was an extraordinary report in Tuesday’s Washington Post about the Clinton e-mail investigation. It involved the government’s interview of longtime Clinton consigliere Cheryl Mills. It details how Justice Department attorneys made an agreement with Mills’s attorney to cut off questioning about a key aspect of the case. Mills, who is a lawyer, was represented at the interview by a lawyer named Beth Wilkinson. As is customary in these situations, the questioning was conducted jointly by FBI agents and Justice Department prosecutors. Yet when things got dicey, it seems the Justice Department prosecutors worked jointly with Ms. Wilkinson to block...

Millions of Democrats are voting for a presidential candidate linked to an FBI criminal investigation. These voters either don't know there's been a year-long FBI investigation of Clinton's emails, don't care, or would vote for Clinton even she faced Espionage Act indictments. Potentially our next Commander in Chief will be interviewed by the FBI soon, as will her top aides. This state of affairs would never take place in any other leading democracy, but American politics is unique. If the FBI recommends indictments, and the DOJ indicts Hillary Clinton, the Democratic Party would be handing Donald Trump the White House...
