CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - A Republican-backed election law bill is drawing criticism for a provision that says local police might visit people’s homes to verify they are legally eligible to vote. “This is a very hard thing for the League of Women Voters to watch, an attempt to change voting laws based on unsubstantiated claims and fears of widespread voter fraud,” Liz Tentarelli, president of the league’s New Hampshire chapter, testified Tuesday during a public hearing on the Senate bill. The bill aims to put stricter scrutiny on people who register to vote on Election Day or within 30 days...

1. Existing Illegals in US problem can be solved by establishing procedure for Illegals to come out of shadow and register, give those about 1 or 2 years to do so. That would give them working permit – visas, say for 3 years and chance to apply for resident status. Will have to pay taxes and keep registering their whereabouts and employment. One time exemption – "resident amnesty" to become Resident Alien (not citizen) for those who entered US before, say 2012, others would have to go back and apply from their home country. This is to avoid influx of...

Since January 2017, low levels of radioactive Iodine-131 contamination have been detected over various European countries. Highest levels have been detected in Poland. The radioactive particles were first detected in Finland. Source is anyone's guess, but the initial area of detection and area of highest concentration point to Russia. I disagree with the blog's conclusion that this is likely to be a nuclear test since I-131 has a short half-life of 8 days. More likely, there's an ongoing issue with a Russian nuclear reactor. (Doesn't have to be a power station - could be a sub or other naval reactor.)

An ...analysis of roughly 13,500 affidavits submitted in Texas' largest counties found at least 500 instances in which voters were allowed to get around the law by signing an affidavit and never showing a photo ID, despite indicating that they possessed one.... One affidavit from Hidalgo County, along the Texas-Mexico border, read: "Did not want to 'pander' to government requirement." In Tarrant County, an election judge noted on an affidavit: "Had photo ID but refused to show it."

Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate is asking legislators to quickly approve a bill that would require voters to show some form of identification before casting a ballot. “This bill will make it difficult to cheat the system,” Pate says. The bill Pate seeks would require Iowans to show a driver’s license, a military ID, their passport or a voter ID card issued by his office to be eligible to vote in their precinct on Election Day.

First-time voter Stephanie Rodriguez, the daughter of illegal immigrants, told an MSNBC reporter Friday she is the only person in her family that can legally vote. Rodriguez, a voter in Arizona, said she cast her vote because of immigration. "I was motivated to vote by my mother, who is not able to vote, as soon as my ballot arrived at home," Rodriguez said. "She was like here it is, Stephanie, you can do it!"

Pennsylvania state police have raided a Delaware County political field office seeking evidence of possible voter-registration fraud, according to court records. In a warrant filed late last week in County Court, investigators said they were seeking documents, financial information, and lists of employees at the Norwood office of FieldWorks LLC, a national organization that often does street work for Democrats, records show. The warrant did not specify the nature of the probe, but said agents also were looking for “templates . . . utilized to construct fraudulent voter registration forms” and “completed voter registration forms containing same or similar identifying...

"The key is a psychological model for identifying voters that can “determine the personality of every single adult in the United States of America,” said Alexander Nix, chief executive of Cambridge Analytica. The little-known company, which has operated in the United States for four years, opened its office here only a month ago and is clearly at the center of Trump’s quest for a last-minute comeback against Democrat Hillary Clinton. New federal filings show the campaign’s payments to the firm ballooning from $250,000 in August to $5 million in September. The reliance on Cambridge reflects a recognition by Trump’s campaign...
