...Arpaio is an unabashed carnival barker. And his antics might be amusing if he weren't also notorious for being not just the toughest but the most corrupt and abusive sheriff in America. As Arizona has become center stage for the debate over illegal immigration and the civil rights of Latinos, Arpaio has sold himself as the symbol of nativist defiance, a modern-day Bull Connor bucking the federal government over immigration policy.... ...Arpaio is so obsessed with the often illusory crimes of immigrants that he ignored more than 400 cases of sexual abuse he was responsible for investigating, including assaults on...
  • Do you feel sorry for the poor?

    07/24/2012 5:38:52 PM PDT · by sagar · 121 replies
Am I the only one who feels utter and total contempt for the so called poor? This is the most free, by far, any country in the history of the world, and yet we have these scum-sucking parasites that have not taken advantage of it, instead they cannot take care of themselves, their children, nor their elderly. When I see a poor person, I am filled with disgust. How can this individual(or group of individuals) live like this and not feel that they have the opportunity just in front of them that the rest of the world would kill for?...

GREENVILLE, SC --- Just a week before graduation, 23 year old Chris Peterman should be preparing his cap and gown. Instead, the Bob Jones University student says he's fighting for the degree he believes he's earned, and he believes the popular television show "Glee" may be partly to blame.

Hello freepers, I'm a registered Democrat, but I'd really rather not be. I would much rather sign myself onto some progressive party as I feel they would better represent me, my views and my country. However, if I were to do so in the current political environment I would be throwing my vote away and by not voting for the Democrat I'm helping the Republican candidate inch closer to a plurality. Similarly, I'm sure plenty of you guys would much rather have a strong Libertarian Party or some sort of Evangelical Party instead of being lumped in with the rest...

KINGSPORT, Tenn. -- Republican Newt Gingrich launched a final, two-day swing across the South on Monday in advance of the biggest voting day so far of the year. Gingrich planned to campaign on Monday and Super Tuesday in Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia -- and vowed to exceed expectations in all the Southern states voting this week and next. Gingrich touted new polls showing that he is closing the gap in Tennessee, and he predicted again that he will win his home state of Georgia with ease. In a morning interview on CNN, Gingrich admitted that losing Georgia could end his...

A family court judge who ruled that a pregnant woman with schizophrenia should undergo an abortion and be sterilized sharply defended her decision yesterday, while denouncing Boston University for withdrawing what she said was a job offer amid the controversy. In a rare personal defense of the reasoning behind a court ruling, Christina Harms, who retired from the bench last month after 23 years, said she concluded that the woman, a 31-year-old who suffered from delusions, would choose to terminate her pregnancy if she were mentally competent, chiefly so that she could resume antipsychotic medication that would have harmed the...

I am convinced that there is no conservative that would have 80% support from FreeRepublic. Everyone is a RINO. I have been a member for about 8 years and despise the left as much as the next guy, but I am voting for Romney. It has taken me 4 years to digest the thought but like it or not, he has thrown his lot in with us and said that his values have changed - Polician speak, maybe/probably. The alternatives - Gingrich, Perry, and Santorum are a joke for national candidates. Indepedents will decide this election, not the RINO haters...
  • Is WND's Jerome Corsi a plagiarist? (Zot's all)

World Net Daily writer Jerome Corsi may have really stepped in it this time... Loren Collins, who writes at Barackryphal, just uncovered what could shred whatever little credibility Corsi’s had. Loren found that a Dec. 19 article published in WND, headlined, “Obama’s Legacy of Broken Promises – in Kenya” seems to have passages in it that were pulled partially or wholly from articles that appeared in the London Evening Standard – July 25, 2008 – and a May 2011 African news service story. In his article, Corsi says all but two of the quotes in question came from his “inside...

OK, this is not a flame thread. I'm genuinely curious why conservatives think Communism is so evil. I am a Communist. I am also a God-fearing Christian, a tax-paying and loyal American, and a generally nice guy. Communism was perverted by third world despots and was never implemented fully in its true form. Communism is about cooperation and good will. And it's important to note that economic success and cooperation are not mutally exclusive. In fact, I would argue greater cooperation among individuals leads to more prosperity and more overall happiness.

I got a real bad feeling the 2nd Civil War may be coming soon. While the (1% millionaires and billionaires) continue to print Trillions of dollars and run off at the mouth on the radio and television while continuing to run the world by establishing themselves as the “FEW WHO CONTROL THE MASSES) it has all the elements for a bad outcome. As a conservative who has given much thought to what all is going on, it has become abundantly all too clear that the objective of the 1% Democrats and Republicans who are OWNED and DIRECTED by HUGE CORPORATIONS...

Republican presidential hopeful Jon Huntsman will announce the endorsement of former U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Gov. Tom Ridge Friday in an event at St. Anselm College in Goffstown. Ridge, a former governor of Pennsylvania, plans to attend a press conference with Huntsman at the college’s New Hampshire Institute for Politics. In a statement by the Huntsman campaign, Ridge said Thursday that Huntsman is “a serious, insightful leader.” Huntsman, 51, a former Utah governor and ambassador to China, said he’ll be counting on Ridge for help and counsel.

The 400 richest Americans used to pay 30% of their income on the average to Uncle Sam. Today, they pay 18% on the average. The main reason for the drop in their tax rate of some 40% is the tax cuts by George Bush in 2003, taking the rate paid on dividends and capital gains down to 15%.

Well, you can save your money and forget about buying that Prius. Because apparently cats, not cars, cause “climate change.” That’s the latest according to some research studies. The problem is reportedly due to a cat “epidemic” in the U.S., where the entire feline population has tripled in the last four decades to some 600 million furry critters. The studies report that “global warming” prompts cats to breed like, well, rabbits, and once there’s an “overpopulation,” our furry feline friends start killing off eco-saving birds en masse. Sounds like a lose, lose. Right? MotherJones reports:

A girl has a new pet and a mechanic has a novel story after finding a kitten trapped inside a car's air filter in Springfield, Vt. "I brought in a car for service, opened up the hood, went to check the air filter, and saw a big ball of fur in the air filter. And it was breathing," said mechanic Jim Perry. Perry said he's found some strange things in car air filters, but the kitten was the strangest. "I've found mice in there. That's pretty common. But finding a little kitten? That's nothing I ever expected to find," said...
