Cleveland Vibrator Company is expanding. The company offers industrial vibration solutions for a host of industries, including mining, agriculture, pharmaceutical, food, medical, powders, foundry, aggregate, recycling and more. The company is moving their office from the west side of Cleveland to a larger facility on the south side. “Relocation of headquarters’ personnel and equipment should be complete by the first of the year,” said CEO Craig Macklin. “We have seen our growth accelerate over the past eight years and we need a larger space to continue serving our customers at the highest level. We are very excited about moving to...

Why is it that "Conservative Women" like Ann Coulter, Laura Ingram, Christine O'Donnell and the like are well into their 40s and 50s and still are not married of have any prospects. Seems to me that having a normal family would be one of the largest conservative things that they can do.

I am trying to relax and watch Star Wars on a beautiful Christmas morning. However, my enjoyment quickly turned to disgust and I had to send the children out of the room and change the channel. Star Wars, obviously an American icon and children's favorite, was interrupted every 8 minutes or so, to sell female self pleasure devices, i.e., vibrators. When they were not selling vibrators, they were selling some kind of lubricated condom guaranteeing his and her fantastic pleasure. Now keep in mind this is in the morning, before noon, on Christmas morning during Star Wars. Who is more...

Gov. Bill Owens is weighing in on the debate over an artist given a $5000 state fellowship grant after viewing her work of art depicting sex toys on hooks. "Obviously, this is offensive and in extremely poor taste," said Governor Owens who couldn't view the piece himself, but had it described to him by staffers. The Governor is in Washington D.C. attending an awards ceremony for the University of Northern Colorado Business School. The artist, Tsehai Johnson of Denver, received a Fellowship from the Colorado Council of the Arts in 2003. The work originally titled "Twelve [term for specific sex...

Last week, the United States Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit upheld an Alabama ban on the sale of sex toys. Alabamians can still use, improvise, borrow (not recommended by Slate or its legal counsel), or import from out-of-state the latex items of their choosing. But as far as the court of appeals is concerned, the sale and advertising of "any device designed or marketed as useful primarily for the stimulation of human genital organs" can now get you up to a year of jail time and up to $10,000 in fines. Condoms and Viagra are exempted from the...

Rachel Maines, author of The Technology of Orgasm, discussed the history of the vibrator and the double standard applied to male and female sexuality in Hollis E. Cornell auditorium yesterday. Her lecture was a part of Cornell's V-Day series, a week-long event aimed at curbing violence against women. Maines criticized what she characterizes as an "androcentric model of sexuality" that is dominant in America and, although to a lesser extent, all of Western society. This androcentric model holds that the act of sexual intercourse occurs only in the event of vaginal penetration. Maines said this concept was deeply problematic because...

For education and discussion only. Not for commercial use. EASTHAMPTON, Mass. (AP) — The idea of people and pets getting professional massages in the same place rubs city officials the wrong way, so they're trying to tighten some health regulations. The Board of Health is considering a proposal to differentiate between animal and human clients of massage therapists. ``We don't want (massage therapists) massaging animals at the same facility where humans are massaged,'' Health Agent Dennis Lacourse told the Daily Hampshire Gazette. ``Do physicians let you bring your dog into the examining room? No.'' Lacourse said human clients in massage...

Meanwhile, at Cornell . . . While Saint Xavier busies itself with damage control over a history professor who cannot distinguish between protest and pedagogy, Cornell University’s health service is debating the important question of whether to sell vibrators in its dispensary. “Many students,” a college newspaper reports, “feel it would be helpful for Gannett [health center] to have vibrators available because Cornell is located in Ithaca, not a major city.” Somjen Frazer, Cornell ’03, explained the problem: “At this point, you either go online or go downtown to the sort of scary and not very woman-affirming place sex-shop.” Paraphrasing...

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 31, 2002 Gannett May Provide Vibrators By FREDA READY Gannett: Cornell University Health Services is currently debating whether to sell vibrators in their dispensary. "This comes out of many conversations between myself and people in the LGBT community about how to improve Gannett's services and make it more affirming of women's sexuality," Somjen Frazer '03 said, who is the main researcher for the Women's Health Initiative (WHI). Through her research, Frazer works closely with Gannett to find ways to serve women whose health care "has been historically undeserved." If Gannett decides to sell vibrators, it would not be...
