At least 40 U.S. veterans died waiting for appointments at the Phoenix Veterans Affairs Health Care system, many of whom were placed on a secret waiting list. The secret list was part of an elaborate scheme designed by Veterans Affairs managers in Phoenix who were trying to hide that 1,400 to 1,600 sick veterans were forced to wait months to see a doctor, according to a recently retired top VA doctor and several high-level sources.

After playing the iconic role of Lt. Dan Taylor in the classic film “Forrest Gump,” actor Gary Sinise has made it his personal mission to help wounded U.S. military veterans and their families. In his latest effort, Sinise and his foundation decided to treat 50 wounded servicemen and women on a three day, all-expenses paid trip to Hollywood earlier this month. Their first stop was a free trip to Disney Land. The heroes were given a guide who helped them skip the long lines.

A security flaw has just discovered that lets hackers prey on visitors to a military veterans web page via Microsoft’s Internet Explorer web browser. According to Reuters, Security firm FireEye Inc. discovered the attacks against Internet Explorer 10 this week, saying hundreds or thousands of machines have been infected. FireEye said the culprits broke into the website of U.S. Veterans of Foreign Wars and inserted a link that redirected visitors to a malicious web page that contained the infectious code in Adobe Systems Inc’s Flash software.
