  • Continued frustration with City building an addition

Update to previous threads about getting an addition approved and finished in Campbell, CA Original 8/5/2015 - http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/3321218/posts Updated 11/3/2015 - http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/3356114/posts Current 3/31/2017 - The continuing saga of getting a simple <500 sq ft addition (master bedroom, master bath, laundry room) in a unused side yard at the back of our house completed. We broke ground May 22, 2016. The rains and delays for the cabinets (my brother built them and shipped them from Kauai) caused a lot of delays but we’re finally at the end and just need the final inspection. The inspector showed up and said “Your...
  • Leftist Moreno declared winner in Ecuador Presidential Runoff, Lasso claims fraud

We can't link to AP reports on FR I understand so with that in mind the Associated Press is reporting through its story posted on Yahoo, MSN and other websites that the leftist Lenin Moreno has won the runoff election for President of Ecuador. The reported margin is 51-49 percent Lenin Moreno over Guillermo Lasso. Lasso is claiming vote fraud as three exit polls showed him winning. Lenin Moreno was in support of keeping Julian Assange of WikiLeaks at Ecuador's embassy in London while Guillermo Lasso wanted to kick him out and let the globalist authorities arrest him.
  • Is there anything better than Netflix to watch current movies?

Since I don't watch TV and do not have cable, I subscribe to Netflix (viewed via my wi-fi from the internet). I did this in a vain attempt to be able to watch movies at home. I love the way Netflix bills itself as the "largest home entertainment network". Hey, Netflix, I've got the bread and the mustard, and you sure have the baloney! The few made-in-Hollywood-by-professional-filmmakers movies they offer---the kind you watch in theaters---are at least 10 years old and most older. The only currently made movies are their own dreadful attempts. The same with Amazon movies. Otherwise, they...

We think in terms of what do our friends think. What do our enemies think? Are we creating an opening for a global crisis? Emboldening our enemies? It's been a long time since politics stopped at the water's edge -- another low the Democrats have dragged us to. Do we really have the heart to defend S. Korea from Chinese aggression by proxy. I wonder if the Chinese President sees the turmoil and decides that any hand he holds is a strong hand. I wonder if people realize that Russia has done more damage to America over this Russia/Trump collusion...
  • What grade do you give President Trump for his first 70 days in office?

What grade do you give President Trump for his first 70 days in office? I myself have been very impressed with his performance. I give him a solid B. FYI: Trump supporters grade his performance (CNN video - 7:45). For those of you who don't wish to sit through the whole thing, CNN's Alisyn Camerota interviewed six enthusiastic and articulate Trump supporters. Five gave him an A and one gave him a B.

It finally dawned on me, what the so called "news" has become. I watch these so called news shows and here's what I see: 1) Almost no "hard" news is ever reported, certainly if it is it's never "balanced". 2) The "news" really starts off as "fake" news - something that is typically anti-Trump and has no substantiation. 3) All the (so called) reporters like a Major Garrett or Charlie Rose et al "comment" on the news and typically offer "opinion" and "conjecture" - they mostly offer up false scenario's and comment on them thru the anti-Trump biased lens of...

With the approach of a new baseball season the Trump administration should consider how far it is willing to go to get Neil Gorsuch on the Court. It is critical to get him approved before many more cases are argued. It should be obvious that the Trump presidency is undergoing numerous attacks in the Whack Job Judiciary. Everything it tries to do will be challenged in the courts. One of the strongest steps the Republican Senators could take would be to suspend or eliminate the Filibuster Rule. This has good arguments for it and good arguments against it. But there...

I am sick of the lies repeated about the House Freedom Caucus. The HFC are the good guys, and the closest we have in the House to Tea Party. They fly below the radar because they are universally hated by the swamp and GOPe leadership, so as to dodge the publically threatened (by GOPe leadership) retaliation. They don't rush to the microphones, but in fact keep their membership list secret. They don't rally around anything unless 80% of their members support it, then hang together. They are NOT anti Trump, and anyone who says that is lying to you. Ask...

We have already seen the entire media portray recalcitrant conservatives in the Republican party as ideologues. But the real culprits are progressives in both parties whose construct is the primacy of government regulations over free-market principles. While it may be too late for great Senators like Rand Paul to realize a free-market insurance model, it is the only viable solution to a government created catastrophe of immeasurable proportions which has consumed one-fifth (1/5) of the economy.

Some of us, forum posters, conservative columnists, and commentators, were not thrilled with having Donald J. Trump as the GOP nominee. We thought his statements were reckless and stupid. And we didn't trust him or believe him when he talked conservative principles. After all, he'd changed parties several times over the years. When the election came around, some people supposedly on our side actually voted for Hillary. I couldn't do that, of course. I couldn't vote for any Democrat. I thought of voting for Gary Johnson. He said he believed in a strong military. But then he said that he wanted to cut the...

as everyone has heard today, a suspect was apprehended in Israel today for making threatening calls to JCCs around the country. Unlike the Muslims, I will not argue for leniency or mercy for him on account of colonialism/imperialism/Zionism, nor will I do what a lot of blacks do by blaming bad behavior on slavery/Jim Crow. Whatever his motive, rape him, do whatever to him in prison and I'll laugh at him. What likely IS the culprit is the plague of Jewish self-hatred. I've seen it from the time I was a kid to the present, and this loser is an...

Beauty is a gift that ought to come with a caveat: a warning sign stating that while being gorgeous might sound like fun, when it comes to relationships, oh boy, are you in for a rough time. I should know. You can call me immodest, vain even, for admitting so freely that in my youth I was good looking. But then, I believe that had I not been so beautiful, I might still be married to the man I once loved. The fatal flaw in our relationship was I blossomed to become so much better looking than he was. My...

Among my conservative friends, they are split roughly down the middle on their opinion of Alex Jones from InfoWars. I myself believe his mind tends to be in the right place, but he goes off on tangents. I rarely watch him, but tune in every now and then to see what he has to say and I must admit he has hit right on target many times. I was turned onto a long interview of him by Joe Rogan, another talk-show personality. I don't watch Joe but I have heard of him. In this 3 hour interview, they talk about...
