<p>Davis leads by 10 points in governor's race, new poll says.</p> <p>By the end of his 10-hour trek Monday up the Central Valley, Bill Simon had collected a miniature John Deere tractor, a box of California oranges and, most importantly, the endorsement of the California Farm Bureau.</p>

The Neighborhood Councils are new components of Los Angeles City government designed to make it more responsive to local concerns. I attended the first election, and it appeared to show that the city is honestly trying to listen to the people. Whether it will like what they have to say is another question. I'd like to hear your comments on the letter before I send it out. You spend a lot of time talking about identity, but this isn't about identity. I seriously doubt that our identity will change significantly, whether the Valley becomes a political city or not. For example, right now, I can say I live in the Valley. But even that is too large a sphere for identity; I live in Woodland Hills, South...
