A burns surgeon who treats many acid attack victims coming out of East London has suggested that the proliferation of such crimes is now at epidemic levels. Judges in 11 cases in Wales gave unduly lenient sentences to thugs convicted of offences including MURDER. Sean Buckley, 29, was found guilty of murdering his partner’s 17-month old son, Finley Thomas, at Cardiff Crown Court in June last year. Finley’s mother Chloe Thomas, 25, was convicted of child cruelty because she failed to intervene while her son was suffering at Buckley’s hands. Police in Blackpool say they have arrested a 51-year-old man in connection with the 14-year-old murder case of reported child grooming gang victim Charlene Downes whose body was believed to have been chopped up and put into kebab meat. One in four terminally ill people who need expert end-of-life care are not receiving it because of funding pressures, the hospice movement has told Sky News. Hospice UK said as many as 118,000 people in the UK with terminal or life-limiting conditions are not able to access palliative care from its members. On average, hospices most of which are charities, receive just one-third of their funding from the NHS and rely on donations, shops, bequests and investments for the rest.
