According to an airport official, an unauthorized student pilot boarded a commercial jet. The lockdown was put in place a little before 5 a.m. The airport is still closed at this time. The person of interest has been apprehended. The airport should re-open soon.

Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley last night unreservedly apologised to the Hindu community for a skit performed at the People’s National Movement (PNM) family day, saying the skit was disrespectful to that religion but it was done out of ignorance and not malicious intent. Four Trinidadians have said US authorities questioned them about their contact with a suspected al-Qaeda operative after he visited T&T in 2001. Adnan G El Shukrijumah was named when US attorney general John Ashcroft warned of intelligence showing al-Qaeda plans for an attack against the United States.
