  • Rep Steve Israel (D, LI NY) - holding townhall meeting (finally) on Monday 10/5

Steve Israel (2nd district, Long Island, NY) is finally holding a townhall meeting this Monday, 10/5. As many on LI know, Israel has been ducking his constituents all summer. In typical cowardly fashion, he's trying to stack the audience with healthcare reform supporters, and asking them to show up earlier than the publicized start time. We intend to do the same. If anyone else in the area would like to join in, we'd love to have you. Here's the info I've rec'd on this meeting, from the group Individuals United for Freedom: Congressman Steve Israel's website has announced that he's...

I am currently working on an article about Congressman Mike Conaway (R - 11th District of Texas) and am wondering if anyone knows anyone who has raw video of him at a recent Town Hall meeting. In particular, I am looking for the questions and answers session of the meetings in which a mother of a soldier asked him a question and was given a rather specious reply. (Sorry for being so vague, but the specifics were not known by the individual who relayed this information to me).

Fresh from the introduction of HR1207, a bill to audit the Federal Reserve, Reps. Bachmann and Paul arrived at Northrop to paint a portrait of financial dystopia where “100 percent of your paycheck is being spoken for.” Bachmann predicts this will happen some time around 2050. Her voice rising to a high-pitched chant, she ticked off the list of financial aggressors: “Income tax, property tax, gas tax, sales tax—everytime-you-turn-around tax!” Meanwhile, over at the United Nations (the very mention of which drew a chorus of boos), they’ll likely work with China and Japan to “insist on replacing the American dollar...

If you think speeches attacking the U.S. Federal Reserve couldn't excite a Friday night crowd on a college campus, think again. About 2,000 people -- students and older adults who were in the majority -- filled Northrop Auditorium at the University of Minnesota to cheer libertarian Rep. Ron Paul, a Texas Republican, as he joined Rep. Michele Bachmann to preach the gospel of a less powerful federal government. Before Bachmann, R-Minn., introduced Paul, she hailed legislation of his that would require a detailed audit of the Fed. The crowd jumped to its feet and roared approval. When she described the...

The Republican Party has one more chance to reclaim its place in America or Obama and the socialists will complete the takeover and there wont be a Republican Party anymore. Senate Republicans issued a blunt warning to their Democratic colleagues today: Don’t even think about using reconciliation to ram through a health care bill. Minority Leader Mitch McConnell told reporters that Democrats suffer a severe backlash if they used the procedural tactic, which would allow them to pass reform legislation with a bare 51 votes. This warning is not new – GOP leaders have gone so far as to call the use of this procedural maneuver a “nuclear” option – but McConnell renewed his warning amid reports that the Senate could still use reconciliation of they can’t win bipartisan support...

September 20, 2009 - The past week saw two conflicting kinds of political consciousness that point to what is right and what is wrong with our culture today. The first was on display on September 12 in Washington, D.C., as hundreds of thousands of individuals flooded Pennsylvania Avenue and the Mall in front of the Capitol building. This Tea Party was organized to protest out-of-control federal government spending and deficits, attempts by Congress and the Obama administration to control health care, economically destructive environmental regulations on businesses, and limits on economic liberty that make individuals more dependent on government. Conservatives are coming for the Democrats on their blind side — the left. The evidence is everywhere. At tea parties and town halls, conservative demonstrators oppose health care reform with signs bearing the abortion-rights slogan “Keep your laws off my body” or the line “Obama lies, Grandma dies” — an echo of the “Bush lied, they died” T-shirts worn to protest the Iraq war. Conservative activists are yelling “Nazi!” and “Big Brother!” where they used to shout, “Nanny state!” and “Big Government!” And the 1971 agitator’s handbook “Rules for Radicals” — written by Saul Alinsky, the Chicago community organizer who...

Whatever your philosophy, there was something for almost everyone in Sen. Lindsey Graham’s performance Sunday at a town hall meeting at the University of South Carolina that drew more than 350. “I’m a free-market guy with a heart,” said Graham, a South Carolina Republican serving his second term in the Senate. Graham — using simple language and folksy stories about his upbringing, in which government handouts helped his struggling family — explained for almost two hours his complex political views on equally complex political issues.

In August he and other members of the right-wing St. Louis Tea Party arrived at a town-hall meeting organized by Missouri Democrat Russ Carnahan to lobby against universal healthcare. 'I'm as Mad as Hell, and I'm Not Gonna Take This Anymore!' This sentiment is being voiced by protesters turning out for Tea Parties and Health Care Town Hall Meetings around the country. People are angry and frightened by the prospect of government running their health care system, but their anger goes far beyond a 1000 page health bill. Health care reform is merely the spark that has touched off a prairie fire of grassroots rebellion among a people who believe their representatives do not represent them, do not listen to them and do not care what they think. President Barack Obama’s address to Congress this evening was moving along fairly smoothly until he pledged that there was nothing in the legislation that would provide health care to the millions of illegal immigrants residing in the nation. A cry of “You lie!” was audible from the Republican side of the aisle. The Associated Press reports that the heckler was South Carolina Republican Rep. Joe Wilson. “It’s not true,” the president responded to the outburst, while House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, seated behind the president, offered her mother-of-five glare towards the Republican side of the chamber. When Obama speaks on Health Care Reform tonight, he is not speaking to regular Americans. He knows he has angered regular Joes. He knows he won’t convince very many, if any people to his position. But that doesn’t seem to faze the president, who is focused on passing Health Care Reform regardless of the cost. Average citizens have voiced their disapproval at townhall meetings hosted by Sen. Arlen Specter and HHS Director Kathleen Sebelius, Rep. Lloyd Doggett, Rep. Tim Bishop, and staffers of Sen. He’s one of the SEIU purple shirted thugs who were arrested for beating a Black conservative for daring to protest Obamacare outside a town hall meeting featuring Democrat Congressman Russ Carnahan. The revolt keeps growing, from tea parties to angry town hall meetings across the country, an uprising against the attempts of an elite to force on us an all-powerful State, about as welcome as grandma's cod-liver oil. Examples of revolt go beyond irate callers to radio talk shows. Take for instance the incident at a Frankie Valli concert recently posted on American Thinker, and the disgust and anger in Joe Sheffat's article. Sen. Barbara Boxer encountered it, as did Sen. Our president seems to believe himself more King than elected representative. Barack Obama has shown himself to be as despotic as George III through overly harsh taxation and forcing his will on the people. Like George used the Parliament, Obama is using Congress to assert his supremacy in a socialist empire. Now, Obama is inciting coercion by advising his followers to fight "Right-Wing Domestic Terrorists," which is anyone who disagrees with his proposed healthcare policy. Rasmussen has bad news for the spin machine on the Left about the town-hall protests. Despite weeks of attempting to dismiss the outpouring of anger as “Astroturfing,” a strong majority of voters believes them to be genuine, and an increased plurality supports them. In fact, the numbers of those believing the protests to be genuine have increased as ObamaCare advocates have pushed their accusations hard: Fifty-six percent (56%) of voters nationwide say that it’s more important for Congressmen to hear the view of their constituents rather than explain the proposed health care legislation. The Democrats, whose presidential administration previously condemned as "potential terrorists" those who oppose same-sex marriage and are offended by restrictions on firearms, all based on Internet chatter, has suggested blasting those who oppose Obamacare as "right-wing domestic terrorists" on 9/11 of this year. According to an "Organizing for America" campaign document unveiled by the Heritage Foundation the plan involves having activists telephone their "State Senators" on Sept. 11, 2009, to demand a "public option" which essentially would involve a government-funded and government-run monopoly on health care.
