Rob Ford, the controversial mayor of Toronto who became an international celebrity last year after acknowledging using crack cocaine in a “drunken stupor,” is believed to have a tumor in his abdomen, health officials said. Dr. Rueben Devlin from Humber Regional Hospital said Wednesday night that Ford had been complaining of abdominal pains and that an examination has resulted in a working diagnosis of a tumor. He said Ford had been suffering from stomach pains for at least three months and they had worsened in the last 24 hours. “It became unbearable for him,” he said. …

Mayor Ford has a tumour in his abdomen, doctors say, but it will be a few days before we know the true scope of his diagnosis. Dr. Rueben Devlin, president and CEO of Humber River Hospital, made the announcement Wednesday night with the mayor’s brother Coun. Doug Ford by his side. Doug Ford was visibly upset as he spoke to media asking for privacy for himself and his family. He would not answer any questions about what the mayor’s health setback would mean for the mayoral campaign. “It saddens me that I have to be here today,” Ford said. “Rob...

If organizers are insistent in holding the event they could always agree to march in the nude or carry “Death to Israel!” signs. That should do it for the city once known as 'Toronto the Good'. With less than a month to go before the parade expected to draw thousands of participants, Toronto bureaucrats told the organizers of the annual event that it could not be held. Although excuses were given, there is no other logical explanation other than the cancellation of the event, held without incident for the past 14 years, was nothing more than Christian-bashing. According to Canada...

Ok, so the headline is a tad misleading. But for anyone who has ever ridden the TTC’s buses, streetcars or subways, or drove behind five streetcars piled up at a stop, it is really no more misleading than their current slogan which is “the better way.”

Sunwing Flight 772 took off for Panama City on this morning, but was turned around after 45 minutes in the air for an emergency landing at Toronto's Pearson International Airport because of an "unruly passenger." Sunwing officials say a passenger was making threats, some of which concerned the security of the plane. Pilots activated their emergency response plan and returned to Toronto. Two U.S. F-16 fighter jets from Toledo, Ohio, were dispatched to escort the plane back to Toronto, North American Aerospace Defence Command (Norad) confirmed. The F-16s flew with the commercial plane out of U.S. airspace to Toronto as...

No Muslims were arrested, of course, although at least one of the Jews was: Muslims are a protected class in multicultural Canada. Here is an excerpt from Blogwrath‘s recounting of events: After that the Arab bullies turned against the Jews with sticks and fists. You can see that confrontation in the movie below (that moment was also covered by Blazingcatfur). After the vicious beating one person was sent to hospital with injuries and another one who came to support JDL-Canada was arrested for no reason (and held for several hours). Blogwrath refers to “Arab bullies,” but the reason why they...

Ford, who returned to work this week after a stint in rehab, blamed his woes on using 'every drug you can probably think of.' But he said he never tried heroin, and he never did drugs in City Hall. The mayor is up for re-election in October. Liquor-loving, crack-smoking Toronto Mayor Rob Ford is blaming his woes on using “every drug you can probably think of.” Ford, who just this week returned to work after a stint in rehab, admitted Wednesday he dabbled with cocaine, hallucinogenic mushrooms and crack -- the last he still claims he wasn’t addicted to. But...

Feiglin called for reconnecting the young generation with the knowledge that it is part of a long historical chain from the days of the Patriarch Abraham, and that it is a "light unto the nations" not just in the field of hi-tech, but rather in terms of the values and spiritual message it has for humanity, reports Shalom Toronto. Feiglin's address at the local Chabad synagogue...

TORONTO – Dozens of people from Toronto, Oshawa, Peterborough, and surrounding areas reported seeing a bright fireball in the sky Sunday afternoon followed by a loud sonic boom. The American Meteor Society received several reports from Toronto, Ajax, Caledon, Port Perry, and Richmond Hill. “I have watched meteor showers before, but I have never seen anything like this in my entire life. My first thought was that it was a jet on fire and blowing up, but I had time while watching it to decide it must be a meteor,” wrote...

My order is inevitable for it is simply The Father's will concisely done in full view and commitment of My Witness that is My spirit in you . . . Acts 17:28 28 For in him we live and move and are! As one of your own poets says it, ‘We are the sons of God.’ John 14:12 I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, if anyone steadfastly believes in Me, he will himself be able to do the things that I do; and he will do even greater things than these, because I go to the Father. Job...

When kids put pen to paper, chances are they are printing. But Toronto’s Catholic board, hand-wringing over the handwriting skills of its students, is now looking to make sure all of them learn cursive. Parents have told her their children can’t sign their name, “or they have been handed a handwritten note and can’t read it,” said Trustee Ann Andrachuk. She proposed a recent motion—unanimously approved—asking board staff how to reintroduce cursive in all schools, and how early children should start learning it. […] Across Canada and the United States, concerns have been raised that cursive is becoming a lost...

Midway through the segment, Mr. Kimmel then ushered Mr. Ford to a television screen where the late night host exhibited a series of now-famous videos showing the mayor drunkenly threatening to kill someone, speaking in Jamaican patois at an Etobicoke diner or knocking over a councilmember in city hall chambers.... As revealed on the Monday night segment, the mayor had agreed to do the show after he was personally contacted by Mr. Kimmel on his cell phone. The Toronto mayor is well known for widely distributing his cell phone number to constituents. “When you say ‘jump’ I say ‘how high?’”...
