HENDERSON, Nev. -- Extolling the virtues of equal pay and opportunity for women, this afternoon GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin framed her White House quest in terms of feminist values. "I have a question for the women in the audience," the Alaska governor began her speech here at the Henderson Pavillion, underneath an arching white tent. "Are you willing to break the highest, hardest glass ceiling in America?" Palin surrounded herself onstage with two higher-profile defectors from Sen. Hillary Clinton's camp -- Lynn Rothschild, a member of the Democratic Platform Committee, and Elaine Lafferty, a former editor-in-chief of Ms....

HENDERSON, Nevada (CNN) — Flanked by a quintet of former Hillary Clinton supporters, Sarah Palin on Tuesday made her most direct appeal to female voters since kicking off her vice presidential campaign in August. "Our opponents think that they have the women's vote all locked up, which is a little presumptuous," Palin said. "Little presumptuous, since only our side has a woman on the ticket… "You've got to ask yourself, why was Senator Hillary Clinton not even vetted by the Obama campaign? Why did it take 24 years, an entire generation from the time Geraldine Ferraro made her pioneering bid,...

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Oregon wrestlers have gone to court to save their program from being eliminated so the university can restore its baseball team. "We don't want to see this program go away," said Ron Finley a former Oregon wrestling coach and now director of the Save Oregon Wrestling Foundation. The foundation is one of the main supporters of a lawsuit filed last Friday in Marion County Circuit Court in Salem by Equity in Athletics Inc., a nonprofit coalition of athletes, coaches, parents, alumni and fans. The complaint seeks a preliminary injunction to maintain the wrestling program while hearings...

Has anyone taken a look at the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournement Telecasts? I'm not really interested in the games themselves but I am interested in the politics. Yesterday I was watching the UVa lacrosse game on ESPN2 and switched over to ESPN during a commercial. There was one of of the women's basketball games on. It looked to me like there were about 450 people in the stands, including mothers and bestfriends. The game that's on now (ODU-UCONN) has a little bit bigger "crowd"; maybe 1000. Obviously there is little interest in these games but ESPN is producing them and...

Pornography has returned to the airwaves of a UCSD student-run television station, despite a student leaders' vote earlier this week to ban nudity and sex. In a broadcast late Thursday night, Koala TV host and UCSD senior Steve York replayed footage of himself engaging in sex with an adult-film actress. This time, however, he retaliated against the student council members who are trying to limit his content. The actress' face was covered by the superimposed image of a student senator who was vocal in her support for the nudity and sex ban. York, 22, has said the episode is a...
