MEXICO CITY – A Mexican asylum-seeker slit his own throat on a bridge across the Rio Grande after being denied entry into the United States, two Mexican security officials said on Wednesday. The man, who has not been identified, tried to enter the United States at the Pharr–Reynosa International Bridge between the Mexican border city of Reynosa and Pharr, Texas.

Amato said Milford and her fiancé, who had both been drinking alcohol, argued during a party at his family’s Prospect Avenue home. During the dispute, she went into a laundry room and slit the throat twice of the family’s dog, a nearly two -year-old Jack Russell Terrier named Penelope, he said. A Blue Springs woman was taken to a hospital emergency room early today after a cell phone became lodged in her throat. The woman was in an argument with a boyfriend when the incident occurred, said Sgt. Steve Decker of the Blue Springs Police Department.
