The Florida Supreme Court is threatening Coral Gables attorney Jack Thompson with sanctions for frivolous and insulting filings in his disciplinary case. The attorney who has made a name for himself crusading against pornography was warned about his filings last April after he submitted “pornographic materials” to the court, the show-cause order said. With Romney's pull-out (suspension, anyway), and barring huge unforeseen events, the GOP Pres nomination will go to McCain. I didn't see any prior threads devoted to discussing a range of VP options. (I did see some suggesting particular people, like Condi Rice.) As I see it, McCain SHOULD want to address three factors with his VP pick, although the 3d is far behind the first 2: 1. In his recent memoir, Alan Greenspan says he's been pushing a constitutional amendment of his own devising. It reads: "Anyone willing to do what is required to become president of the United States is thereby barred from taking that office." Steven Stark lays out a scenario whereby all the other candidates, none of whom have wholehearted Republican support, cancel each other out, paving the way for Fred Thompson to receive the nomination at the convention. This is a weird article. I was never one who believed that politicians were - on the whole - smart enough to pull off something like this.
