Star Wars actor Riz Ahmed gave some advice on how to fight the terror group ISIS. During a Thursday speech to Channel 4's annual diversity lecture in Parliament, Ahmed urged television producers to embrace diversity and have more Muslim representation, or young people will feel alienated and will be more vulnerable to joining extremist groups. "If we fail to represent, we are in danger of losing people to extremism," Ahmed said. "In the mind of the Isis recruit, he’s the next James Bond right? Have you seen some of those Isis propaganda videos, they are cut like action movies," he...

In the view of the Department of Homeland Security’s intelligence wing, anger over the election of Donald Trump, reflected in protests across the country, is a driving force in “domestic terrorist violence,” according to an unclassified report obtained by The Intercept. The conclusions, laid out in a February 21 report prepared by the North Carolina Information Sharing and Analysis Center (ISAAC) and DHS’s Office of Intelligence & Analysis (I&A), come amid a series of controversial post-election efforts by Republican lawmakers to criminalize protest. Focused on North Carolina, the six-page document “was written in response to a spike in violence and...

Juan Thompson, the St. Louis native arrested for making bomb threats against Jewish centers, evidently used to write at left-wing website The Intercept before being fired for fabrication. Here’s Mediaite’s report on his firing a year ago. News website The Intercept issued a mass retraction and correction Tuesday after admitting that one of their writers regularly fabricated sources and impersonated sources with fake Gmail accounts. “An investigation into [Juan Thompson]’s reporting turned up three instances in which quotes were attributed to people who said they had not been interviewed. In other instances, quotes were attributed to individuals we could not...

A U.N. human rights expert voiced alarm on Friday that U.S. President Donald Trump might allow torture in interrogations and called for senior officials from George W. Bush's administration to be prosecuted for allowing the illegal practice. U.S. officials responsible for the secret detention, rendition and torture programs run by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) included "those in the most senior positions" under Bush, said Ben Wankersom, U.N. special rapporteur on protecting human rights while countering terrorism. "To hear President Trump, in the first days after his inauguration, glibly extolling the virtues of torture as a weapon in the fight...

An Orlando judge has overruled the arranged release of Noor Salman, the wife of the Islamic gunman who killed 49 and injured 69 at the Pulse nightclub last year. On Wednesday, a district judge in California ordered that Salman be released pending trial. Judge Donna Ryu argued that Salman wasn't a flight risk or a danger to public safety and had no connections to ISIS.Prosecutors in Orlando argued the contrary. In the court filing, they said Salman has shown little remorse for her husband's actions, calling her a “cold person” who wasn't worried about the victims in the immediate aftermath of the attack, but was mainly concerned with “how...

Recently, the Chicago City Council named a street in honor of Oscar Lopez-Rivera, the founder of the notorious terrorist group FALN. In President Obama's waning days in office, he commuted his sentence. He had been scheduled to serve until June of 2023, and after Obama's order, he still would remain incarcerated at the Federal Prison in Terre Haute, Indiana until May 17 of this year. But early in February, a fervent Lopez-Rivera supporter, the far-left Chicago Congressman Luis Gutierrez, succeeded in having him transferred to Puerto Rico, where he will be with his daughter while under house arrest until his...

“Only a coalition of Marxists and Islamists can destroy the United States” A few years back, this former Marxist turned Islamist “called on ‘all revolutionaries, including those of the left, even atheists,’ to accept the leadership of Islamists such as Osama bin Laden in order to turn Iraq and Afghanistan into ‘graveyards of American imperialism.'” Yet here he is attempting to pull on Obama’s heartstrings by evoking a little bit of leftist rhetoric along with a little bit of Obama’s Islamic heritage. “Carlos the Jackal to Obama: Help me find terror pal,” by Jay Baggett for the World Net Daily,...

Australian counterterrorism police arrested an unidentified man after a raid on a countryside property on Tuesday and accused him of seeking to help the Islamic State group by developing missile technology, the first arrest of its kind in Australia. Dozens of police, including a dog squad and some officers with metal detectors, raided a property in Young, about 270 km (170 miles) southwest of Sydney, earlier on Tuesday, pictures on Australian media showed. Ian McCartney, Assistant Commissioner of counter-terrorism for the Australian Federal Police, said police will allege the 42-year-old man had been advising the radical Islamist group on how...

Gorka said the goals for the new Trump administration's counterterrorism program and policies are simple. "As the president said [Friday] we will ‘obliterate' groups like ISIS and wipe the scourge of radical Islamic terrorism from the face of the earth," he said. The media attacks prompted friends and supporters of Gorka on Capitol Hill and in the military and special operations community to voice their support. "The bottom line is Sebastian Gorka's work is a necessary tool for all special operations forces in developing critical thinking," said an Army special operations officer familiar with Gorka's counterterrorism lectures in Tampa, Florida,...

Colin Hanks, Tom's son, has a new documentary out called "Eagles of Death Metal: Nos Amis." It is a moving study of Jesse Hughes, the leader of the "Eagles of Death Metal" and his band on their one-year anniversary concert in Paris after the Bataclan Islamic terror shootings. First, the band isn't particularly aptly named. It is NOT a "metal" band in the same sense as Metallica or Iron Maiden. EOD is in fact more punkish, traditional garage grunge rock and roll. I personally like some of their songs. Hughes is an emotional guy, the son of a rocker. On...

The head of the National Rifle Association painted anti-Donald Trump protesters as violent extremists and compared their disruptions to terrorism during a speech to the Conservative Political Action Conference on Friday. "Ladies and gentlemen, another definition of terrorism is violence in the name of politics," said Wayne Lapierre, executive director of the NRA. "And criminal violence has no place in political debate." Police have clashed, at times, with crowds gathered to protest the new president. But the hundreds of demonstrations that have taken place around the globe have been largely peaceful.

In a shocking development, it has been revealed that the son of legendary boxer Muhammad Ali was detained for hours by immigration officials earlier this month at a Florida airport, and was repeatedly asked about his religion. Muhammad Ali Jr, 44, and his mother, Khalilah Camacho-Ali, the first wife of Muhammad Ali, were arriving at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on February 7 after an event in Jamaica, when they were pulled aside while going through customs because of their 'Arabic-sounding names', reports the USA Today quoting Ali's family friend and lawyer Chris Mancini. Camacho-Ali was let go after she showed...

Before his 70-year sentence was commuted in the waning days of the Barack Obama administration, Lopez spent 35 years of his life in federal prisons for his role as a leader in the militant Puerto Rican nationalist group FALN. The group claimed responsibility for dozens of bombings across the U.S during the 1970s, including here in Chicago, although Lopez’s supporters argue he was never convicted of personally hurting anyone. The designation for the three-block stretch of North Luis Munoz Marin Drive was championed by Ald. Roberto Maldonado (26th), who worked the floor prior to the vote. Even with that lobbying,...

Jesse Hughes doesn't have nightmares anymore. He sleeps peacefully through the night, curled up in his bed. It's the waking hours that are hard, as memories of Paris return with a jolt from a random smell or image on the street, taking him back to that night of violence and fear. More than a year has passed since heavily armed terrorists aligned with the Islamic State walked into the Paris theater Le Bataclan and shattered the lives of those gathered for an evening of seething rock & roll from Hughes and his band, Eagles of Death Metal. The band narrowly...

Al-Qaeda accused the United States of withholding necessary medication from "Blind Sheikh" Omar Abdel-Rahman, the mastermind of the deadly 1993 World Trade Center bombing who died behind bars Saturday. They also released a final statement from the sheikh complaining of strip searches that explored his private parts "front and back," claiming that he could be poisoned behind bars and calling for "the most powerful and violent revenge" in the event of his demise. Abdel-Rahman, 78, was serving a life sentence at the Federal Medical Center, Butner, in North Carolina. He had been blinded at a young age by diabetes, and...

Chicago plans to honor unrepentant terrorist leader Oscar Lopez Rivera by naming three blocks of a city street for him, Oscar Lopez Rivera Way. The final vote by Chicago’s 50 aldermen on this horrific proposal by Ald. Roberto Maldonado (26th) is scheduled for Wednesday of this week. In this age of constant terror threat, the words “disgrace” and “outrage” do not come close to describing the insanity, the insult and the pain that honoring the leader of Puerto Rican Terrorist group, Armed Forces for National Liberation National Liberation, brings to our family, the families of all FALN victims and all...
