A Kansas teen who refused to apologize to Gov. Sam Brownback for an insulting tweet got an apology today from the governor himself for his staff’s “over-reaction.” An unpleasant tweet by Emma Sullivan, 18, was flagged by Brownback’s staff last week. The teen was told by her principal at Shawnee Mission East High School to apologize, but she refused, and the national brouhaha has led to her Twitter following soar from 60 to more than 6,000. “My staff over-reacted to this tweet, and for that I apologize. Freedom of speech is among our most treasured freedoms,” Brownback said in a...

World history tells us of tyrants and dictators that have deprived the populace of their God given rights, especially the right to keep and bear arms. The Jewish Defense League (www.JDL.org) has advised that everywhere in World history where genocide has been committed, the genocide was always preceded by disarming the population. The party or government responsible for disarming may not always be the same party or government that committed the genocide, nonetheless, genocide was committed on the disarmed and defenseless. There are even certain modern evils in the United Nations that must be monitored with vigilance lest the sovereignty...

SPRINGDALE — A Fairfield woman was indicted Friday by a Hamilton County grand jury in the fatal shooting of a Princeton High School football player. Tiana Sullivan, 22, was indicted on charges of murder and aggravated robbery, according to the Hamilton County Clerk of Courts website. Police say Sullivan shot 18-year-old Lamar Williams around 3 a.m. July 20 while fleeing the scene of an armed robbery at the Willows Apartments on Chesterdale Court in Springdale.

Andrew Sullivan this weekend seemed to shock Chris Matthews when he said that former Alaska governor Sarah Palin could actually beat President Obama in next year's elections running as the "principled candidate" representing "this grassroots movement of cutting government down to size."Maybe even more surprising, Time's Joe Klein seemed to agree telling the host of "The Chris Matthews Show," "You were around in ’79 and ’80 as I was. Did you see many people in the Carter administration think that Ronald Reagan could beat Jimmy Carter?" (video follows with transcript and commentary):CHRIS MATTHEWS, HOST: Does anybody here really,

I'm glad Andrew Sullivan has responded to my Sarah Palin piece. You'd hate to write as much about her as I did and not have it register on the Dish. That would be like if you were a large white whale and Ahab just ignored you. Andrew's response covers a lot of terrain, and I agree with his point that Alaska is essentially a socialist state, or more accurately, a ward of the federal government (for more on that, see this excellent Charles Homans piece in the Washington Monthly). In fact, its perverse tax structure is one reason why Alaska...

Ominous Signals on Libya: A Response to Andrew Sullivan Posted By David Horowitz On March 26, 2011 @ 12:04 am In Daily Mailer,FrontPage Andrew Sullivan takes exception to my observations that we are on a fool’s errand in Libya and a dangerous one. The other day I took issue with neo-conservatives who had learned nothing from failed attempts to create Western-style democracies in Muslim cultures. I had pointed to recent experiences in Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon and Gaza (let alone Turkey) and warned that our military invasion of Libya could lead to the creation of an al-Qaeda aligned totalitarian state. Andrew Sullivan: Palin Is “Playing Games” And “Doing Performance Art”by Matt Schneider | 12:23 pm, January 16th, 2011 Frequent Sarah Palin critic and Senior Editor for The Atlantic, Andrew Sullivan, did not disappoint in his appearance on The Chris Matthews Show. In responding to Palin’s video response to the Arizona shooting, Sullivan dismissed Palin as a political “game-player” who should have realized that “I don’t think this was the week to play a game.” Sullivan said Americans are sick of games in politics and was disgusted that Palin, in her video, was “playing games a la Karl Rove and doing...

"Sarah Palin represents an America this is absolutely, definitionally white, that's very much rural America." That's how The Atlantic's Andrew Sullivan summed up the former Alaska governor in his appearance on the November 7 BBC Radio 4 "Americana" program. Echoing Peter Jennings' infamous description of the 1994 midterms, the liberal British-born blogger added of 2010 voters that they had "had a panic, a tantrum." For his part, Washington-based "Americana" host Matt Frei reinforced Sullivan's analysis, labeling Palin the "Evita of the North" and generally failed to question Sullivan's analysis. "Despite all the kind of hullabaloo about the Tea Party, and...

For those who haven't heard, there are many instances of fake Tea-Party candidates on ballots around the country, the intent being to split the conservative vote giving victory to the democrat. In Florida's 8th congressional district this fake Tea-Party candidate is Peg Dunmire. There have been previous stories drawing the direct connection between Alan Grayson and Dunmires through her campaign manager Doug Getslo, who by the way has been sentenced to serve 60 day in jail starting Nov 3 for previous campaign indiscretions. Obviously if the Dunmire scheme succeeds the election will be handed to Alan Grayson. Follow the link,...

Weigel responds to the Levi-Bristol break-up by shaming the media: "Why assume that [Sarah] Palin was behind [the Levi-Bristol engagement], cleaning up a problem before a possible 2012 run? It’s because the alternative, truer explanation is dull. Palin as tabloid joke is a story for 2008. The story for 2010 is that she’s a master plotter, a recruiter of grizzlies, whose book sales and TV deals prove that she’s outsmarted everyone. This theory doesn’t have many takers inside of Alaska, where Palin’s celebrity and national designs are frowned upon by people who wanted her to serve out her term. But...

In an fascinating development for Sarah Palin fans, readers of People magazine, and people who think it’s best to believe a woman when she claims the infant she’s carrying is her biological child, Levi Johnston has publicly apologized to the Palin family for lying about them. Andrew Breitbart’s $100,000 offer for the full archives of the now-defunct liberal listserve Journolist has prompted a fight between himself and Atlantic blogger Andrew Sullivan. Breitbart has not yet had any takers for the offer – assuming such a complete archive of the e-mail list founded by the Washington Post’s Ezra Klein even exists – but Sullivan contends the offer alone has crossed a new line. “Every blogger or writer who has ever offered an opinion is now on warning,” Sullivan wrote. “Your opponents will not just argue against you, they will do all they can to ransack your private...

Andrew Sullivan is not a huge fan of Israel; he is entitled to his opinion. However, his latest column about the incident in the waters outside of Gaza makes up the facts. Honestly, in the case of most of the posts Sullivan writes about Israel, Andrew is living in his own reality, where truth and facts do not matter. The Atlantic columnist begins his latest example of creative writing begins with the first paragraph. Maintaining the siege and blockade of Gaza (because its citizens elected a government Israeli abhors), and strafing it with military might over a year ago, is...

Here's a revealing glimpse into how a delusional, incompetent, pathological liar has managed never to hold a real press conference and yet remains a credible public figure. She avoids the filters - i.e. skeptical journalists - and deploys one simple propaganda tool: (Requests to interview Palin for this article, specifically about her experiences in the 2008 campaign, were turned down. Her former communications aide Meghan Stapleton explained that "with her Fox exclusivity, we are denying requests for articles and stories right now.") The reason I banged on and on about Palin's bizarre story about her fifth campaign prop during the...

WASHINGTON -- Congressman John Sullivan introduced H.Res. 1063 Wednesday, a resolution expressing the sense of Congress that it is unconstitutional for the federal government to require American citizens to purchase government approved health insurance, or else face criminal penalty. The Sullivan resolution also demands the removal of the individual health insurance mandate from any final healthcare reform bill that Congress considers. Congressman Sullivan issued the following statement after introduction of the resolution. “My resolution builds off the efforts of at least 36 state legislatures, including Oklahoma, that are looking to limit or oppose health mandates in the House and Senate...
