ST. LOUIS • Police were called to a church in St. Louis this morning for crowd control after an unexpectedly large crowd gathered on rumors of applying for $500 food vouchers. . . Two ambulances arrived to treat a diabetic woman as well as an older woman who fell in the street. Police had to put crime scene tape across the front door of the church to discourage people from trying to get in. Some members of the crowd became irate after they were sold fake applications for the vouchers. Several attendees said they had been waiting in line...

The real election in the city of St. Louis occurred last Tuesday when Missouri held its Democratic primary. Six primary races pit white Democrats versus black Democrats, including high-profile races for U.S. Congress, the state senate, three state house races and sheriff. Like most major cities, the general election here is a foregone conclusion. Republicans haven't been a force in city politics for more than a half-century. In fact, you'd have to time-travel back to the misty mid-1940s before you could find a Republican occupying the mayor's office. St. Louis's last GOP mayor was a lawyer named Aloys Kaufmann, who...

Submitted by Brandon Smith from Alt-Market Military Rolls Tanks Onto St. Louis Streets...But Why? I have to say that this event, which is being labeled a "training exercise", makes very little sense to me. U.S. Army troops all the way from Maryland running open exercises in armored personnel carriers on the busy streets of St. Louis? I know Maryland is a small state, but is there really not enough room at Ft. Detrick to accommodate a tank column and some troops? Are there not entire fake neighborhood and town complexes built with taxpayer dollars on military bases across the country...

ALAN writes: "On a recent Sunday afternoon, I had the most incredible experience: I sat in a roomful of 50 men and women who had lunch, talked, reminisced, and enjoyed themselves for four hours. The incredible part was that they did all that without cell phones, without liquor, without vulgar language, without loud “music,” without blaring TV screens, and without wrecking the place. All of them are white. All of them are decent and disciplined. They are, therefore, atypical 21st-century Americans. They grew up in the 1930s, ‘40s, and ‘50s. They are Old School. They are not “cool” or trendy;...

Tessa Vanvlerah, 22, allowed Kenneth Kyle, a Californian college professor, to photograph, urinate on, rape and burn her 5-month-old daughter. According to STL Today, Vanvlerah’s attorney’s attempted to get her probation based on a psychological disorder. The judge was not lenient on the woman. She was forced to give up her custody of the infant in 2010 when she was charged with first degree statutory rape, incest, child pornography and sodomy. Kyle was sentenced in March to serve a term of 37 and a half years in federal prison. The child has since been adopted by the foster parent who...

As the National Rifle Association prepares to convene its annual members’ meetings and exhibits this weekend in St. Louis, Missouri – from whence this column will be reporting later in the week – an annual orgy of media mayhem is about to unfold, wrapping up with an anti-gun demonstration outside the convention center, this one dedicated to slain Florida teen Trayvon Martin. For the next six days at least, NRA members from Seattle to Sarasota who are headed to St. Louis will be slandered, smeared and demonized for the sin of defending a constitutionally-protected, fundamental civil right. Just take it...

St. Louis Today reported: When is the line crossed between better health and surveillance? In early 2012, wristwatch-like devices called Polar active monitors will be used by older students in PE classes at all 18 Parkway elementary schools. District officials say the devices should help improve the students’ fitness and academic achievement. Later this school year, the district plans to collect data about activity levels and even sleep patterns for a week at a time. It will have the students wear the devices round the clock. Some parents and legal experts are raising privacy concerns about at least that aspect...

Police are still investigating and could seek assault charges against the man and the teen, said Katie O'Sullivan, a spokeswoman for the St. Louis Police Department. The incident began when the 46-year-old man got into an argument with the 18-year-old male. The teen punched the man in the face. According to a police summary, the man told police he "feared for his safety, so he took out a gun and fired...

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Was President Barack Obama too busy watching the “Operation Repo” marathon or something else last Friday night? When KMOX host Charlie Brennan asked now-retired St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony La Russa how the traditional call of congratulations from the White House went, La Russa suddenly realized that…it never happened. “That’s a good point, I hadn’t really even thought about that,” replied a surprised-sounding La Russa, who can be forgiven for having a few other things on his mind over the past week. “As we were getting into the World Series we had a call from the...

October 28, 2011--The St. Louis Cardinals have won the world series in an improbable, luck-filled and quirky convergence of events. For example, the number of dribblers Lance Berkman hit that rolled like bocci balls through the infield was exceeded only by the dribbles in Tony LaRussa's depends. Okay, let's allow these Cardinal fan cretins a little superficial happiness for once. It has probably been years since some of these fat losers have even cracked a smile. But the real story of the 2011 world series is that the all time villan of MLB, Tony LaRussa,a piece of human garbage and...

The local media would not release the race of the teens but the “knock out game” is popular with black youth mobs in St. Louis. KSDK reported: St. Louis police are looking for a group of 10 to 15 people who brutally beat a 51-year-old man. It happened near the public library in the 3300 block of South Grand around 11:40 p.m. on October 21. St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay was the first person to spot the victim. He tells NewsChannel 5 he was driving along Grand with his security officer when they saw the crowd from a distance. Slay...
