ST. LOUIS • Police were called to a church in St. Louis this morning for crowd control after an unexpectedly large crowd gathered on rumors of applying for $500 food vouchers. . . Two ambulances arrived to treat a diabetic woman as well as an older woman who fell in the street. Police had to put crime scene tape across the front door of the church to discourage people from trying to get in. The real election in the city of St. Louis occurred last Tuesday when Missouri held its Democratic primary. Six primary races pit white Democrats versus black Democrats, including high-profile races for U.S. Congress, the state senate, three state house races and sheriff. A man police say attacked the driver of a horse-drawn carriage and took control of the reins in downtown St. Louis on Tuesday night was foiled when the horse instinctively ran back to its barn.

Tessa Vanvlerah, 22, allowed Kenneth Kyle, a Californian college professor, to photograph, urinate on, rape and burn her 5-month-old daughter. According to STL Today, Vanvlerah’s attorney’s attempted to get her probation based on a psychological disorder. The judge was not lenient on the woman. She was forced to give up her custody of the infant in 2010 when she was charged with first degree statutory rape, incest, child pornography and sodomy. Kyle was sentenced in March to serve a term of 37 and a half years in federal prison. The child has since been adopted by the foster parent who...

WASHINGTON, Iowa – A missing Iowa businesswoman's car has been found near St. Louis, Missouri but the 45-year-old still hasn't been located. The Washington County Sheriff's office said Sunday that Sharon Ruth Hopf's 1999 white Chevy Lumina had been found. Investigators are searching the car for clues that might lead to Hopf. The Crawfordsville woman was reported missing Thursday after she didn't show up for work at a home furnishings company she owns in Kalona. St. Louis Today reported: When is the line crossed between better health and surveillance? In early 2012, wristwatch-like devices called Polar active monitors will be used by older students in PE classes at all 18 Parkway elementary schools. District officials say the devices should help improve the students’ fitness and academic achievement. A man pulled a gun and shot a teenager in the buttocks Thursday after the teen punched him in the face, police say. No arrests have been made yet. Police are still investigating and could seek assault charges against the man and the teen, said Katie O'Sullivan, a spokeswoman for the St. Louis Police Department.
