  • Court says Clinton emails broke ‘government policy’

    The Washington Times ^ | August 20, 2015 | Stephan Dinan
A federal judge said Thursday that former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton’s unique email arrangement broke “government policy” and prodded the department to talk to the FBI about getting a look at the computer server and flash drives used to store her emails. Judge Emmet G. Sullivan was surprised the State Department hadn’t even made that request, and poked at the administration’s claim that the FBI needed to be left alone to conduct its investigation.

I'm sure it was. Set on fire, bathed in acid, blowtorched and then buried at midnight at the bottom of a lake next to Jimmy Hoffa who can finally get internet access. State Department BlackBerry devices issued to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's aides Cheryl Mills and Huma Abedin have likely been destroyed or sold off, the department said in a court filing on Wednesday. Mills and Abedin “were each issued BlackBerry devices,” department Executive Secretary Joseph Macmanus wrote in the filing. The department, however, “has not located any such device,” and believes that they would have been destroyed...
  • How the State Department Is Stiffing the Intelligence Community Out of Hillary Clinton’s E-mails

    National Review ^ | 08/20/2015 | Brendan Bordelon
Hillary Clinton’s awkward intransigence in the face of an unrelenting e-mail scandal is playing out under the harsh media spotlight of a presidential campaign. Garnering less attention is the intransigence of a former Clinton colleague at Foggy Bottom, who appears to be leading an effort to shield her potentially classified e-mails from further scrutiny by the intelligence community. He is Undersecretary of State Patrick Kennedy, and for weeks now he has denied the intelligence community inspector general (IG) access to Clinton’s e-mails, while substantially limiting the access granted to the State Department’s own IG. He’s also ignored official guidance from...

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was trained in the proper handling of classified information by the Bureau of Diplomatic Security according to the Diplomatic Security 2009 Year in Review booklet the bureau posted online. Under the heading “Safe Handling of Information” on page 21 the bureau boasted of its efforts to quickly bring new Obama administration appointees up to speed on security issues. “DS also provides new Department of State employees with training in the proper handling of sensitive and classified information. “DS contributed to the smooth transition of U.S. government officials by providing more than 180 members of...

(Washington, DC ) – Judicial Watch announced that the State Department asserts in its most recent filing with the court the State Department did not issue personal computing devices to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and possibly destroyed the Blackberries of her aides Huma Abedin and Cheryl Mills: [The State Department] does not believe that any personal computing device was issued by the Department to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and has not located any such device at the Department. [The State Department] believes that Ms. Mills and Ms. Abedin were each issued BlackBerry devices. [The State Department]...

(Washington, DC ) – Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton made the following statement regarding the recent court order granting Judicial Watch’s request for a hearing this week, on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at 12:00 p.m., which had previously been scheduled for September: The Obama administration’s obstruction of the courts and our Freedom of Information Act litigation must end. The court and the American people are weary of their legal gamesmanship. We are fighting for the public’s right to know what Hillary Clinton, Huma Abedin and others were sending and receiving during their four years running the State Department. Judicial Watch...

Good news, America. The woman who wants to be the President of the United States hired an email server company to host her own personal server, on which she sent and received top secret classified information, out of a bathroom closet. You just can't make this stuff up. Daily Mail has the exclusive: The IT company Hilary Clinton chose to maintain her private email account was run from a loft apartment and its servers were housed in the bathroom closet, Daily Mail Online can reveal. Daily Mail Online tracked down ex-employees of Platte River Networks in Denver, Colorado, who revealed...

So says the Washington Times, based on sources within the State Department. In a real way, though, we already knew this: While media coverage has focused on a half-dozen of Hillary Rodham ClintonÂ’s personal emails containing sensitive intelligence, the total number of her private emails identified by an ongoing State Department review as having contained classified data has ballooned to 60, officials told The Washington Times. That figure is current through the end of July and is likely to grow as officials wade through a total of 30,000 work-related emails that passed through her personal email server, officials said. The...

Wednesday afternoon, moving very quickly, Washington D.C. federal judge Emmet G. Sullivan ordered the State Department to explain to him in writing what it is doing to work with the FBI and the Department of Justice to obtain the emails from Hillary Clinton’s server, and where any missing emails might be found. As we reported yesterday, the conduct of Mrs. Clinton implicates countless criminal statutes. In its status report just filed, the State Department has told the judge that it is doing absolutely nothing to obtain any emails other than those Mrs. Clinton already provided. Apparently, the State Department hasn’t...

Full title: Judicial Watch Statement on the State Department’s Report to the Court on Hillary Clinton’s Missing Records (Washington, DC ) – Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton made the following statement regarding the recentstatus report provided to the court by the State Department regarding its efforts to recover the records of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and her top aides: The State Department filing is woefully deficient, misleading, and contemptuous of the court’s orders for complete disclosure about Mrs. Clinton’s email system and the systems of Ms. Abedin and Ms. Mills. • No Really: Hillary Wanted a Book With Advice About How To Delete Emails That "Stay Deleted"

Now why in the world would Hillary Clinton want a book about how to permanently delete emails? According to a new report from ABC's Jon Karl, the former Secretary of State requested a book about how to delete email before leaving her position in early 2013. Bolding below is mine. The last batch of Hillary Clinton emails released by the State Department included one from Clinton asking to borrow a book called “Send: Why People Email So Badly and How to Do It Better,” by David Shipley and Will Schwalbe. Clinton has not said why she requested the book, but it includes...

Huma Abedin, Hillary Clinton’s most trusted confidante, is increasingly becoming a central figure in the email scandal that’s haunting her boss on the campaign trail, as Republicans and federal judges seek information about Clinton’s communications while she was running the State Department. The 2016 Democratic front-runner on Monday told a federal judge that Abedin — long considered her boss’s keeper and even dubbed her “shadow” — had her own email account on Clinton’s now infamous home-brewed server, “which was used at times for government business,” Clinton acknowledged. That’s an unusual arrangement, even for top brass at the State Department. Abedin...

A controversial Clinton adviser who faced penalties for conflicts of interests under President Bill Clinton was still assisting Hillary Clinton as secretary of state, despite the fact that his consulting firm was engaged in commercial activities in countries where she worked, emails show. Sandy Berger, who gained notoriety when he stole classified documents from the National Archives prior to testimony before the 9/11 Commission, had Hillary Clinton's personal email address and emailed her about Israel, Pakistan and terrorism in 2009. Berger's consulting firm, the Albright Stonebridge Group, has engaged in business in more than 100 countries around the world, according...

The State Department's request that Hillary Clinton's former deputy chief of staff, Huma Abedin, return any work-related emails in her possession went unreceived for two months because of issues with delivery of State's mail and email messages asking for the records, according to Abedin's lawyers. After the controversy over former secretary of state Clinton's use of a private email account and server for official business erupted in March, Abedin was among 10 current or former State Department officials asked by their former agency to provide any similar messages on their private accounts. But Abedin's lawyers said she didn't receive that...

Somehow the conclusion by State Department investigators that Huma Abedin, close associate and friend of former Secretary of State and presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, was overpaid by some $10,000 as she worked at a State Department job specifically created just for her, does not surprise. Abedin, who is expected to assume the same Rasputin-like role in a Hillary Clinton administration as Valerie Jarrett does for President Obama, has done very well for herself. As the Washington Post reports: The finding -- which Abedin has formally contested -- emerged publicly Friday after Sen. Charles E. Grassley (R-Iowa) sent letters to Secretary...

Have we come to expect this now of our United States attorneys general? The image is still emblazoned on my mind: those Black Panthers with billy clubs and paramilitary outfits confronting voters at a voting station. Video, proof, and no action from then-attorney general Eric Holder. Now we have Loretta Lynch, a family friend of Eric Holder and his wife, and also a person who received her big career break from Bill Clinton. Eric Holder, who was held in contempt of Congress, who sued states that attempted to enforce purposely unenforced federal law, never provided all Fast and Furious documents...

Judge Emmett Sullivan, who is hearing the FOIA lawsuit brought by Judicial Watch, has put Hillary Clinton’s top aides Human Abedin and Cheryl Mills (and their boss Hillary) on the spot, in a ruling JW president Tom Fitton describes as a “blockbuster.”  Judicial Watch summarizes (the text of the order appears below): Judicial Watch announced today that U.S. District Court Judge Emmet Sullivan ordered the U.S. State Department to request that Hillary Clinton and her top aides confirm, under penalty of perjury, that they have produced all government records in their possession, return any other government records immediately, and...

State Dept. fails to release 1,000 messages The State Department admitted it was violating a judge’s order Friday in releasing only 1,356 new emails from former Secretary Hillary Rodham Clinton’s time in the administration, with officials saying they’re falling behind because they are having to run all of the documents by intelligence agencies to make sure classified documents aren’t being released. It’s the latest stumble for a department put on the spot by Mrs. Clinton’s unique email set-up, which saw her reject a State Department account and instead issue herself a private account, kept on a server she maintained at...

Scott has called today’s McClatchy story about Hillary Clinton’s emails “must read.” I agree. McClatchy reports that the classified emails known to have been stored on the former Secretary of State’s private server contained information from five intelligence agencies, and included material related to the fatal 2012 Benghazi attacks. And this, if I understand correctly, is just from a sample of 40 emails. Clinton’s defense continues to be that she “did not send nor received anything that was classified at the time.” (emphasis added) But even if this turns out to be true, it is not a satisfactory response for...
