HANCOCK COUNTY -- A family gathering to celebrate a child's birthday turned deadly Sunday when a fight between two brothers-in-law led to a fatal stabbing, officials said. Hancock County Sheriff's Investigator Glenn Grannan said that at 12:30 a.m., deputies found Kenneth Fanning, 29, suffering from multiple stab wounds in the front yard of a rental home on the 5000 block of U.S. 90. Takisa Matthews, 30, was held without bail at her arraignment Tuesday afternoon. She was charged with the murder of 26-year-old Maria Sanchez, who was stabbed to death at an altercation outside a house party in October of 2014. Matthews was also charged with armed assault with the intent to murder for stabbing another woman, who survived.
