Just a reminder, both BLM and NFL Anthem Kneeling started under Obama: In 2013, the movement began with the use of the hashtag #BlackLivesMatter on social media after the acquittal of George Zimmerman in the shooting death of African-American teen Trayvon Martin in February 2012. The movement became nationally recognized for street demonstrations following the 2014 deaths of two African Americans: Michael Brown—resulting in protests and unrest in Ferguson, a city near St. Louis—and Eric Garner in New York City. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Lives_Matter In the 49ers' third preseason game in 2016, Kaepernick sat during the playing of the U.S. national anthem prior...

“I don’t really care what anybody thinks about me, never have, but I know a lot of people that do,” Murray said. “And for me being a black man in America, if it’s wrong I’m gonna say it’s wrong. I feel like personally, it’s on everybody to hold each other accountable. But more so, for me, if you’re white and you got white friends that feel this certain type of way or don’t understand what’s going on, it’s on you to educate them, as well as black, Hispanic, any other ethnicity.

New England Revolution and former United States men's national team coach Bruce Arena says he sees no reason to play the national anthem before pro sporting events in the United States. Arena told ESPN's Taylor Twellman he understood the decision of athletes to take a knee during the U.S. anthem in protest of police brutality, but admitted he struggled to understand the anthem's relevance prior to pro sporting events in this modern era.

Mavericks owner Mark Cuban said kneeling during the national anthem wouldn’t have kept Colin Kaepernick off an NBA roster. That was a questionable claim that nobody tested. No NBA players emulated Kaepernick’s controversial demonstration (which protested racism, particularly through police brutality). But Cuban is now even more directly supporting players – particularly on Dallas – if they kneel during the anthem. Cuban, via ESPN: “If they were taking a knee and they were being respectful, I’d be proud of them. Hopefully I’d join them,” Cuban said. NBA rules state that players and coaches must stand for the national anthem, but...

Dominic Raab is facing a backlash after criticising the BLM 'taking the knee' protest - saying it is like something out of Game of Thrones. The Foreign Secretary said the gesture, which has been at demonstrations around the world since the death of George Floyd, 'feels to me like a symbol of subjugation and subordination rather than one of liberation and emancipation'. He accepted other people 'feel differently' and insisted he understood the 'frustration' felt by oppressed communities, but added: 'I take the knee for two people, the Queen and the Mrs when I asked her to marry me.'

UNLV removed its “Hey Reb!” statue from campus on Tuesday night with university president Marta Meana hinting that changes could be coming to the school’s “Rebels” mascot in the future. The statue, which stood in front of the Tam Alumni Center, will be returned to its donor, Meana said in a message to the UNLV community. In the message, Meana pointed to “recent events throughout our nation” as the impetus for the statue’s removal. “In recent conversations with the donor we mutually agreed it was best to remove the statue and return it. Over the past few months, I have...

Short-sighted negotiations between Major League Baseball owners and players are sabotaging the chance for a renaissance that the game desperately needs. Each passing day without Major League Baseball stands as a stain on America’s national pastime and represents a sad failure to capitalize on a golden opportunity for the game and the country. Today, we should be distracted from our work, glued to our televisions, computers, or smartphones watching otherwise meaningless spring training games with greater interest than ever before, in anticipation of the return to normalcy of the daily drama of baseball. At a minimum, our ailing nation could use the...

An Iowa high school baseball team started its season on Monday by kneeling during the national anthem in support of Black Lives Matter and racial injustice, according to multiple reports. All of the Roosevelt Roughriders players linked arms and were seen kneeling as "The Star-Spangled Banner" echoed through Principal Park in Des Moines ahead of the team's first game against Ankeny Centennial. “[We have a] lot of diversity, and a lot of people of color," a Roosevelt senior outfielder told Des Moines WHO 13. “We’re just trying to show our appreciation, and it’s about social justice."

US Olympic boxer Virginia Fuchs, who beat doping allegations because the banned substances were transmitted to her during sex, has spoken out in a video interview, saying she had “no idea” something like that could happen. “When I was first notified back in March when I had these prohibited substances in me, I was in complete shock and had no idea where they had come from, knowing I had never ingested anything,” Fuchs said in the video published by FOX 26 reporter Mark Berman on Twitter about the moment she found out she was positive for Letrozole and GW1516, which...

NBA Coach Gregg Popovich: ‘The flag is irrelevant. It’s just a symbol…”To San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich, being in the NBA isn’t enough. He has to be at the center of the political and cultural debates happening across the nation today. Unfortunately, he echoes the sentiment of many elite, entitled progressives that America is terrible and anyone who disagrees with them must be a Trump-loving fascist. In a recent interview with Maureen Dowd of the New York Times, Popovich sounded off against those in sports who aren’t aligned with his far-left ideology. The popular sports figure who majored in “Soviet...

Donald Trump has long had two cherished American institutions standing beside him as he railed against athletes taking a knee during the national anthem: NASCAR and the NFL. This week, they both started to walk away. Bending to the cultural moment, NASCAR and the NFL in recent days reversed course on their approach to athletes protesting racial injustice. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said he had been wrong for not listening to protesting players earlier and encouraged “all to speak out and peacefully protest.” Meanwhile, NASCAR relaxed rules barring kneeling during the national anthem and banned Confederate flags from its events....

Country music star Hank Williams Jr.’s original single, written to stand up to the NFL and athletes who disrespect the US flag, is feeling a resurgence this week. Williams Jr. and tens of thousands or more NFL fans may no longer “be ready” for some football if players in large numbers take a knee during the National Anthem. The 2018 single called “Take a Knee, Take a Hike,” is trending up again and the lyrics make his viewpoint abundantly transparent about those who want to use sporting events and venues to make political statements. Oh, how we all love Monday...

By force-feeding its viewers an unwanted diet of systemic racism and social justice, ESPN has thinned its viewership to an all-time low. The blundering miscalculation sank ESPN's audience this week to the lowest numbers in its 41-year history. Good luck defending this hair-brained strategy to your advertisers, ESPN. Clay Travis, of Fox Sports Radio and a frequent ESPN "Woke Center" critic, put it all into perspective on his Outkick The Coverage blog.: "The network, which has become more left wing than MSNBC and CNN combined over the past several weeks, has completely abandoned sports coverage. The result? Viewers, many of...

On Tuesday the U.S. soccer federation reversed its three-year ban on kneeling during the anthem.

The stars and bars have been banned from NASCAR racetracks. Finally. On Wednesday afternoon, three days after the Cup Series showed a unified front against racism at Atlanta Motor Speedway, and only a few hours before Bubba Wallace's No. 43 Chevy hit the track at Martinsville Speedway adorned with an image of black and white hands embraced, NASCAR announced it was officially pulling the battle banner of a nation long gone off of its racetrack properties. It's the culmination of a one-man campaign by Wallace, who this week appeared across major news outlets and called for NASCAR to finally do...
