The spiritual character of "Narnia" is being reinforced with the debut on the charts last week of a Christian pop album of music inspired by the film. But prospects for a previously announced secular soundtrack now seem cloudy, executives involved in the process say. Disney executives say that at the very least the CD will be delayed beyond its planned Oct. 25 release. Mitchell Leib, president of music for Disney's Buena Vista film unit, said he still expected to assemble and release a secular soundtrack before the film's Dec. 9 opening. But he cited production snags. He said he was...

The Oscar-winning soundtrack to The Lord of the Rings has been voted the greatest film score of all time in a poll conducted by the radio station Classic FM. The score by Howard Shore beat such classics as Gone With The Wind and Dr Zhivago and was a testament, experts said yesterday, to the huge popularity of the film, which produced one of the highest box office gross figures of all time. Long-standing favourite soundtracks such as Casablanca, The Godfather and The Sound of Music were notable by their absence from the poll of more than 52,000 listeners. "It doesn't...

<p>If Pittsburgh had its own unique soundtrack, with songs that have some connection to the city, what would it be? It could include "Blue Velvet" and "Blue Moon," or Stephen Foster's "Oh Susannah" and Donnie Iris' "Ah Leah."</p>
<p>Based on the belief that plenty of good music has come out of Pittsburgh, the Senator John Heinz Pittsburgh Regional History Center has launched a "Soundtrack of Our City" initiative, asking Pittsburghers to vote for their most memorable songs. The music should be about Pittsburgh or composed or performed by Pittsburgh artists. The ones with the most votes will be used to compile a series of city "soundtracks," which will be played in the History Center's Great Hall.</p>
