A growing number of Democratic lawmakers are boycotting President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration, particularly after revelations of Russia’s alleged meddling in the 2016 election and his rebuke of civil rights icon John Lewis on Saturday. Some members of Congress have said they will be protesting in DC and in their districts instead.

The reasons many legal scholars, ethics experts, and political analysts give boil down to this. The New York Times is calling for an end to the Electoral College. On Monday, it was Hillary Clinton who was losing a stream of Electoral College votes to surprising individuals, not Donald Trump. Four Democratic electors in Washington State alone declined to vote for Clinton, who won the state overwhelmingly, and instead threw their votes behind Standing Rock activist Faith Spotted Eagle, former Secretary of State Colin Powell. The Daily Beast reports that Powell, a longtime Republican who supported the Democratic nominee in the last three elections, actually received three of the four rogue votes.

A spokeswoman for Washington, D.C.’s public school system tweeted Tuesday about her desire to “abolish” all white men. The declaration by Hilary Tone, who works a day job as communications director for D.C. Public Schools, was prompted by president-elect Donald Trump’s selection of Rick Perry to lead the Department of Energy. Pointing towards Perry’s stated desire to abolish the department he’s been tapped to lead, Tone quipped that she would personally like to lead (and presumably also eliminate) the “Department of White Men.”

Left-wing website Slate should be the final arbiter of what is or not “fake news,” according to left-wing website Slate. The site, which itself has a questionable track record, announced the launch of a Chrome extension that will alert readers if they are reading something deemed “fake news” by Slate. The announcement comes less than a week after Slate ran a story deemed “ridiculous and false” by CNN anchor Jake Tapper. That story, titled “Kellyanne Conway Suggests Men Don’t Want Their Wives to Work in the White House,” twisted Conway’s words to fit a narrative.

President Barack Obama has ordered a full review into hacking by the Russians designed to influence the 2016 election, White House Homeland Security and Counterterrorism Adviser Lisa Monaco said Friday. “The President has directed the Intelligence Community to conduct a full review of what happened during the 2016 election process. YouGov poll: Plurality of Dems think election was rigged, 42% of Clinton voters say she has “good chance” of winning recount I can actually understand the “rigged” claims, sort of, as an expression of pure butthurt denialism. It’s a very narrow plurality of Dems who say so — 36/35, with another 29 percent saying they’re not sure. Some people just can’t process that Her Majesty might have lost fair and square and they’re coping by retreating into fantasies of cheating. This is harder to process, though.

House Democrats have a responsibility to fight for the "majority voice" of voters who rejected Republicans and President-elect Trump, House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer said Wednesday. Hoyer, D-Md., said during a news conference that more people in the November election "voted for the agenda that this leadership group represents" and not for Republicans, who retained the majority in the House, the Senate and recaptured the White House.
