An Australian baseball player who was allegedly shot and killed at random while he was jogging wasn't targeted because of his race or nationality, the prosecutor in charge of the case said Friday. "At this point, the evidence does not support the theory that Christopher Lane was targeted based upon his race or nationality," District Attorney Jason Hicks said in a statement. Hicks acknowledged that social media posts allegedly made by some of the defendants are racial in nature, but he said "the evidence is insufficient to establish that race was the primary motive" in Lane's slaying.

OAKLAND (CBS SF) – A photojournalist for CBS 5 San Francisco was beaten and robbed of his camera by a group of young men in Oakland following a live newscast report Wednesday. Photographer Gregg Welk and reporter Anne Makovec had just finished their noon report on the passage of Prop 30 in front of Oakland Technical High School on the 4300 block of Broadway. After the live shot, an unknown number of men rushed up, punched Welk and grabbed his camera, according to CBS 5 Communications Director Akilah Bolden-Monifa.

A Milwaukee teenager was charged Friday in a companion's shooting death, which allegedly occurred as they robbed an armed man. According to a criminal complaint, the robbery target, who was wounded, told police he holds a legally issued concealed-carry permit and that his 5-year-old son was with him when the two robbers confronted him with a gun. Jovan Williams, 18, was charged with felony murder in the Oct. 19 death of Zaire J. Burris, 18, who was shot in the 3100 block of N. 27th St.

Stephen Lee Henderson, who is still at large and considered armed and dangerous, was arrested by Hammond Police in 2007 for cocaine dealing. He pleaded guilty in 2009 and received a six-year sentence. Typically, Indiana offenders serve half their sentence.
