Forget the World's Fair, we now have a new way to celebrate human accomplishment. Instead of seeing a vision of the future, we turn off the lights and sit in the dark for an hour. Earth Hour shows how far we have come from celebrating human accomplishment to celebrating the lack of accomplishment as an accomplishment. For all the pretense of activism, environmentalism celebrates inaction. Don't build, don't create and don't do-- are its mandates. Turn off the lights and feel good about how much you aren't doing right now. Environmentalism has degenerated into a conviction that all human activity...

It looks like Mrs. 2ndDivisionVet finally has a chance to transfer back to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. As most of you might know, the economy there is much stronger than almost any other place in the United States. We will be close to her family, have much better choices in healthcare and dental and the stores in her company perform better there. She is a store manager for a large chain of eyeglass/contacts (optical) outlets. Two different locations in that area have come open and we hope that she will be picked for one. Please pray for us that she...
  • North Dakota lawmakers approve measure that could ban abortion

North Dakota lawmakers on Friday approved a proposed amendment to the state constitution that could make the state the first to define life as beginning at conception, which would effectively outlaw all abortions. If approved by voters, North Dakota would be the first state in the United States with such a provision in its constitution. Similar measures have been put before voters in several states, including Mississippi, and rejected. At the same time, the Republican-controlled state House of Representatives also passed more limited measures. The bill would outlaw abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy and require doctors who perform abortions...

On a hour long interview with Alex Jones, Cody Wilson of Defense Distributed states that they will be releasing files for a functional, completely 3D printed pistol within a month. Cody states "We have found some ways to make printable guns work." Defense Distributed has already shown that they can make workable, usable magazines and lower receivers. This will be the first completely printable firearm. Expectations are not high, but Cody Wilson believes that it will be capable of a few shots before it becomes inoperable. It will be a modern day Liberator pistol, delivered by the internet rather than...
  • America, is New York style "Gun Control" in your future?

In NYC, any masochist can apply for a gun permit. The labyrinthine, invasive and expensive vetting process was designed by bureaucratic sadists to discourage the general public from ever attempting it. On that level, it works. Even applicants who pass extensive background investigations can ultimately be rejected for reasons that are not explained and for which there is no appeal. Moreover, if you get turned down, that fact alone can be used against you in unrelated matters. And just so you know, if you are an average upstanding American citizen with a clean record seeking a ‘concealed carry’ permit, your...
  • Friday Afternoon Roundup - Don't Call It Amnesty

    Sultan Knish ^ | 22 Mar 2013 | Daniel Greenfield
DON'T CALL IT AMNESTY Amnesty is bad. Everyone agrees on that. Even the senators who support amnesty claim not to support it. Instead they support “Comprehensive Immigration Reform” with “A Path to Citizenship”. They support a comprehensive solution that will be compassionate and work as an immigration policy for the 21st century. No one uses the term “amnesty” anymore except opponents of amnesty for illegal aliens and their more vociferous advocates. This makes for some confusing speeches and press conferences. The most bizarre argument that advocates of amnesty are making is that we have “de facto amnesty” now. The...

    Breitbart's Big Government ^ | March 22, 2013 | William Bigelow
The Colorado government, now completely run by Democrats, has done an about-face regarding civil unions for gay couples. Democratic Gov. John Hickenlooper signed a bill allowing same-sex civil unions roughly a year ago after the same idea went down to defeat in what was then a Republican-led House. But last November Democrats won the House, having control of the Senate already, and the new alignment allowed the bill to be passed. It will go into effect May 1. Most of the Republicans in the state government held fast against the measure because they wanted religious exemptions granted to those who...

The sheep, or as many call them, the sheeple, are content to graze in the pasture of television and newspapers, living their lives without a care in the world. Some are true believers, biting at every sprig of lusciously painted foliage offered. Most, however, are satisfied with the sustenance their current enclosure provides them. Cyprus? Drones? It doesn't matter to them; they go on with their lives oblivious to the world around them as long as they have March Madness and Honey Boo-Boo. Since they obey the law, why should they care? Surely, the government is here to protect them....

As always, one must listen carefully to what leadership says, or fails to say, in analyzing current affairs. During his trip to Israel, President Obama said, "It is not fair that a Palestinian child cannot grow up in a state of her own." Of course, as people of good will we would like everyone to have the right of self-determination and God-given liberty, but we also have to ask ourselves what has been done to establish the circumstances necessary for that. It's been observed that a Palestinian child cannot grow up "in a state of her own" because of Palestinian...

  • Obamacare May Cost Small Business 'Whiners' 65% of Annual Profits

    Breitbart ^ | March 20, 2013 | John Sexton
Today the NY Times has a case study on the cost of Obamacare to one small business. The business in question is Baked in the Sun, a California baker with 95 employees. Baked in the Sun does about $8 million in annual revenue, however margins for bakers are tight so their annual profit is only about $200,000. Because the business has over 50 employees, they will be required to offer health insurance to their employees or pay a fine for not doing so. The owners estimate that the cost of compliance would be $108,000 per year plus $10,000 in overhead...

Imagine for a moment that your professor had you write the name of Mohammed on a piece of paper. Then you were to place it on the floor and to stomp on it. Imagine the outrage the community would express at defacing the Islamic prophet in class. This is what Florida Atlantic University Professor Deandre J. Poole, did in intercultural communication class–but with the name of Jesus, not Mohammed. Student Ryan Rotela, a Mormon, complained to Professor Poole’s supervisor about the incident and for his pains got suspended, according to The Daily Caller. This is a blatant case of double...

Fighting Back: How to fight the radicals who play by the “Rules for Radicals” Here is the complete list from Alinsky. * RULE 1: “Power is not only what you have, but what the enemy thinks you have.” Power is derived from 2 main sources – money and people. “Have-Nots” must build power from flesh and blood. (These are two things of which there is a plentiful supply. Government and corporations always have a difficult time appealing to people, and usually do so almost exclusively with economic arguments.)  Rule 1: Radicals are your enemy.  They think you have power over...

A recent study noted that the majority of people have enough food in their pantries to feed their household for about three days and that seemingly stable societies are really just nine meals from anarchy. With most of us dependent on just-in-time transportation systems to always be available, few ever consider the worst case scenario. For tens of thousands of east coast residents that worst case scenario is now playing out in real-time. No longer are images of starving people waiting for government handouts restricted to just the third-world. In the midst of crisis, once civilized societies will very rapidly...

The UK's Queen Elizabeth II has unfortunately been ill with gastroenteritis recently. Understandably this has started speculations, I hope premature, about what could happen in case of her death. I like her, and I wish her a very long life. Who will succeed the Queen is a very worrisome question. I dread to think of her son and heir to the throne Prince Charles as the King, not only because of his, shall we say, lack of grasp of reality (Oriana Fallaci, the Italian best-selling author who, with her book The Rage and the Pride (Amazon USA) , (Amazon UK) ,...

So much of what is taught on today’s college campuses is useless “feel good” drivel. It is very often nothing more than pap designed to “build self-esteem.” Nevertheless, occasionally a genuine lesson will bubble up through the worthless sludge. This is what happened recently at the University of New Mexico (UNM). While the lesson was unintended, it was clear and for a change valuable. Students learned that they do not have to automatically yield to minority opinion and if they tell demanding Gay activists to get lost the world will not come to an end. Here’s how it unfolded. A...
