"Moonbats enjoy barking self-righteously about sustainability. Yet they seem to consider this sustainable: In 11 different U.S. states, the number of government dependents exceeds the number of private sector workers..... ... In California, there are 139 “takers” for every 100 private sector workers. … If you can believe it, entitlements accounted for 62 percent of all federal spending in fiscal year 2012...... Entitlement spending is worse than waste. A dollar spent on green energy is more or less the same as a dollar used as fireplace kindling. But a dollar spent on welfare makes America $1 weaker by strengthening government...

The club and the knife were most likely the first weapons developed in human history. Their primary purpose was to kill animals to provide food. By attaching a knife to a pole, as in either a spear or an arrow, the effectiveness of the knife can be extended. Then, some humans learned that they could use these weapons to take property from other humans. The most valuable and sacred property is life itself and once that has been taken, all other forms of property become available to the attacker. If one human with ill intent is armed and another is...

It took Edmund Burke a very little time to decide that French Revolutionary philosophy posed a massive threat to civilization and social stability throughout Europe. By the end of his life, eight years after the storming of the Bastille, his fears of Jacobin contagion had led him to ask for a secret grave, removed from his family sepulchre and hidden from those-the English Jacobins-who would plunder the lead from tombs for bullets to assassinate the living. In 1796 he wrote: “...out of the tomb of the murdered monarchy in France has arisen a vast, tremendous, unformed spectre, in a far...

CASHING IN ON THE DEAD The left's plan has always been very simple. Find a grievance or create a crisis, in whatever order, and then cash in on it. Whether it's the economy or the murder of children, the left's response to any tragedy is to find a way to shamelessly try and cash in. Recently a woman was charged with falsely raising money by claiming to be setting up a fund for some of the dead children of Newtown. This is the sort of thing that's illegal if you're an ordinary person, but perfectly acceptable if you happen...

Jacques Belleaud at MyFoxDC reports: The Mexican government has urged a U.S. court to stop Arizona from enforcing a minor section of the state’s 2010 immigration law that prohibits the harboring of illegal immigrants. Lawyers representing Mexico asked the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in a filing Wednesday to uphold a lower-court ruling that blocked police from enforcing the ban. Mexico argued the ban harms diplomatic relations between the United States, undermines the U.S.’s ability to speak to a foreign country with one voice and encourages the marginalization of Mexicans and people who appear to be from Latin America. “Mexico...

This year those of us who cherish the phrase “Merry Christmas” have started to say “Merry Christ-mas” to reinsert the name Christ into the greeting. Here’s a reminder of how we started to lose “Merry Christmas” 40 years ago. On the day before Christmas in 1971 the New York Times ran an article about a new “holiday” called Kwanzaa that was invented by an America hating Black separatist named Ron Everett. Everett now uses the made up “African” name Maulana Ron Karenga to show the world he wants nothing to do with White America. That Mr. Karenga was in a...

Magical thinking underlies the calls for gun control in the wake of the slaughter of the innocents at the Sandy Hook school, but a relentless logic is at work in this anecdote of modern life in the Britain formerly known as Great: A disabled caravanner who kept a penknife in his glove compartment to use on picnics has blasted the authorities after...

Guns cut down on violence, save lives and property and help protect the public. Over 2.5 million times per year, guns prevent robberies and armed assaults on the public. We explained previously how gross is irrelevant... until it is, i.e. until there is a breach in the counterparty chain and suddenly all net becomes gross (as in the case of the Lehman bankruptcy), such as during a financial crisis, i.e., the only time when gross derivative exposure becomes material (er, by definition). Human beings only have two ways to deal with one another: reason and force. If you want me to do something for you, you have a choice of either convincing me via argument, or force me to do your bidding under threat of force. Every human interaction falls into one of those two categories, without exception. Reason or force, that’s it. In a truly moral and civilized society, people exclusively interact through persuasion. Force has no place as a valid method of social interaction, and the only thing that removes force from the menu is the personal firearm, as paradoxical...

Advocates of overturning the right to keep and bear arms have spent years DELIBERATELY turning innocents into victims of slaughter for the purpose of disarming the American people. “Do as I say, not as I do,” gun-control zealots are predictably out in force after the Sandy Hook killings. For in the perverted mind of confiscation supporters like Michael Bloomberg and Barack Obama, the murder of 20 kindergarten students represents a longed-awaited opportunity to embarrass weak-kneed defenders of the 2nd Amendment into relenting to a nationwide assault against the foremost liberty of the American people. On December 19th, New York Mayor...

What has happened to my country? I am old. I am 77. I pay to live in a gated community because I am scared. “Bravo Roberto” near my home serves from a cooked-from-scratch, delicious menu, items not bought from a food service truck, not served up by a chain restaurant that loads Americans up on heavy doses of salt to achieve its number one rating. In these tragic times, food, friends, family, God, prayer and Christmas are about all we have left. And “Bravo Roberto” serves up every day in Florida’s St. Lucie West a product we have allowed ourselves...

Frank Serpico, the storied cop who launched a campaign with fellow officer David Durk in the 1970s to expose wide-spread NYPD corruption, is living in the upstate woods these days as reported by Larry McShane for the Daily News: "'I would like to be known for having been a human being, but for having taken that responsibility very seriously,' he reflects." When the 77-year-old dies he doesn't want an obituary but just "a stone with a hole in it that will gather water, so the birds could come and drink." Durk died last month as reported by Robert D. McFadden...

Seems the progs are at it again, not actually accomplishing anything you could call 'progress' re. gun violence while pig-headedly attempting to fix yesterday's problems with solutions that never worked in the first place... It's a long-running shtick with liberals, where they claim the ability to control the uncontrollable: now they're out to 'control' weapons-possession in the US just as 3D computer technology is making 'printed guns' a reality- a democratization of weaponry they're never going to put the kibosh on, obviously:_______________________________________________________________________ Forbes via Doug Ross: Three months ago, the gunsmiths behind the group known as Defense Distributed announced their intention to create a working, lethal gun anyone can download and...

There are as many ways to look at a man as there are at a glass of water. Either half empty or half full. Either people are basically good or they are basically rotten. And all theories of government come down to one view or the other. If people are basically good, then they can also be left to their own devices. They may even be allowed to run their own affairs. If however they are basically rotten, then a system is needed that will force goodness on them. And this system's own goodness will be protected by strict conformity...
  • Experts Predict a Hiring Boom in 2013 (Hilarious!)

Hiring is expected to pick up in the New Year, according to career counselors, but uncertainty surrounding the strength of the economy will likely prevent the hiring season from being as robust as in years past. Last month, the economy added 146,000 jobs, well beyond the expected 85,000 experts predicted. And a strong holiday shopping season is buoying hopes that December will beat expectations as well. "Historically, the first quarter of any fiscal year is always the best time to expect hires because of the normal cycle of business," says Robert Meier, president of Job Market Experts, a Florida-based firm...

Sarah Cleveland: Thinking about the people I met this morning while on the sidewalk. It was so bitterly cold... Dozens of parents and grandparents went inside today. It was so busy.. There were several of us counseling and praying outside of the mill today and as always, we spoke to as many people as we could going in, reaching out equally to the people standing on the steps having a cigarette, the workers, and the people walking out of the building. I spoke with Renee, a mother of two. A child, age 5 at home, and another, age 4 months,...

Since removing constitutional rights is all the rage now, I have to ask: when does dislocation from reality become severe enough to justify involuntary commitment? A good study case is NYC's Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who recently uttered a real gem on his weekly radio show. Writes Politicker.com:

Maintaining that laws banning guns are ineffective at deterring criminals, National Rifle Association CEO Wayne LaPierre urged that we “harden potential targets. The placement of trained and armed security guards in vulnerable locations would be a more potent defensive measure than the placement of signs declaring these locations ‘gun-free zones.’” LaPierre pointed out that “Connecticut’s law banning assault weapons had no impact on the madman who killed 20 school children. Government officials themselves don’t place their trust in gun control laws. The President has armed guards to protect him. Many members of Congress have concealed carry permits. They put their...

My dear friend Lisa and her family are suffering a terrible lose today. Her dear Mother was found dead today around noon in her bed by her brother. Her Mom's name is Corinne. Please pray for this family. Corinne's granddaughters were deeply in grief as I comforted them when they got word since I was there. I have not seen Lisa yet but can only imagine. Corinne was healthy and mid 60's further adding to the shock of this all. Thank you!
