  • Obama and Morsi: Separated at Birth

In Cairo, Morsi scribbles his decrees and in Washington DC, Obama scribbles his. There is an ocean between the two men, but there is a good deal that they have in common. Both are ideologues who piggybacked on public outrage over the national impact of international economic declines to climb to power and pursue their true agendas. Without worries about the price of bread, the odds are good that Mubarak would be sitting in his old place and Morsi would be looking over the latest economic reports from the Brotherhood's business networks and front groups. And without a sharp decline...

In the wake of the freakish presidential election results, there has been very little good news for the defenders of America. Instead, we have seen the maniacal, communist Democrat regime in Washington doubling down on its destructive agenda. We have seen Barack Obama (or whatever his name is) continue to pound his deranged insistence on raising taxes on the producers in our nation. Raising taxes on the “rich” will not help the monstrous debt the Obama administration has added to the already huge national debt that had ballooned under President George W. Bush. No, this is not about reducing the...

A few days ago, I posted this blog: Doomsday Preppers are Socially Selfish. The role of a blogger is to foment discussion an it certainly appears that’s what I did. I very much appreciated most of the 150+ comments – except perhaps the ones that called me ‘stupid’, ‘nuts, ‘arrogant’, ‘ignorant’ – and a few personal emails that were much more graphic. I wrote this for the emergency management community, who pretty much misunderstood what I was saying. Social media is certainly powerful and I had no idea this would be so controversial. Last week's post on the pistol-packing ways of some credit union members, and their bad attitude toward robbers, led some credit union officials and attorneys to keep an eye out for similar incidents. In what cannot be a mere coincidence, a well-known credit union attorney put me on to another take-down, this one in Michigan. Would-be robbers picked the wrong person in Redford Saturday Night. The wise guys are the prime suspects in a sabotage attack against a Tuscan vineyard where 80,000 litres of its prized wine "was poured down the drain" as reported by Nick Pisa for the Daily Mail: "raiders broke into the cellars smashing through armoured glass which house the famous Brunello di Montalcino and targeted barrels from the 2007 through to 2012 vintage and then simply turned on the taps." There are few weapons as deadly as the Israeli house. When its bricks and mortar are combined together, the house, whether it is one of those modest one story hilltop affairs or a five floor apartment building complete with hot and cold running water, becomes far more dangerous than anything green and glowing that comes out of the Iranian centrifuges. Forget the cluster bomb and the mine, the poison gas shell and even tailored viruses. Iran can keep its nuclear bombs. They don't impress anyone in Europe or in Washington DC. In a move that sounds straight out of Orwell, Amsterdam allocated 1 million euros last week to a plan that would relocate trouble-making neighbors to camps on the outskirts of the city, the BBC reports. The “scum villages,” as critics have called them, would lie in isolated areas and provide only basic services to their unwilling residents. According to details of the plan reported by Der Spiegel and the BBC, residents will live in “container homes,” under the watchful eye of social workers or police....

This is a timely, important and essential conversation. Retail's Hidden Potential, a recent Demos' report about the possibility of lifting 1.5 million retail workers and their families out of poverty, provides hard evidence about the impact of low-wage work on the economy. It’s Magic!- By: Larry Walker, II -The current 2012 Tax Rate Schedule is shown below. Applying the Obama-Doctrine, single filers making over $200,000, and married filers making over $250,000 would get a tax hike. However, since there is no cut-off at either $200,000 or $250,000 in the current tax rate schedule, the 33% bracket would need to be split, resulting in a sharp tax increase for a handful of unfortunate individuals. Thus, taxpayers with taxable incomes between $200,000 ($250,000 if married) and $388,350 would see their taxes rise by 20%, while those with incomes over $388,350 would get that plus...

One key difference between the U.S. economy today and that of 15 or 20 years ago is the labor environment—not just wages in factories, but the degree of flexibility displayed by unions and workers. Many observers would say these changes reflect a loss of power and leverage by workers, and they would be right. But management, more keenly aware of offshoring’s perils, is also trying to create a different (and better) factory environment. Hourly employees increasingly participate in workplace decision making in ways that are more like what you find in white-collar technology companies. In late 2008, Dirk Bowman and...

The signature power grab of the left may be the “law of the land” as conceded by ever conciliatory House Speaker John Boehner, but getting the massively complex statute up and running will be far more difficult than getting it passed. When Democrats rammed ObamaCare through congress in 2010, their intent was to literally acquire the power of life and death over the American people, not create a workable healthcare plan. In the name of keeping Americans safe, our government has launched the “War on Drugs” followed by the “War on Terror,” both of which, in reality, have been a War on Liberty. The government’s effort to keep us safe has eviscerated our Constitution, and like most jobs the government does, the results have been counterproductive.

Not because I am a Georgetown fan, Big East fan, or college basketball fan, but because something smells rotten in the state of amateur athletics. All this talk of TV contracts, TV markets, and TV valuations in the latest round of conference realignment has made me feel all, well, bubbly. Let's take a look at current trends in the TV market: Sky Rocketing Valuations. The value of the...

Newsmax Conrad Black: Jewish-Owned Media ‘Habitually anti-Israel’ Thursday, November 29, 2012 02:50 PM By: Newsmax Wires The Jewish-owned American media don’t treat Israel fairly, says former newspaper publisher turned author Conrad Black. Black, writing in the National Review, expresses agreement with a Twitter posting from News Corp. CEO Rupert Murdoch earlier this month that read, “Why Is Jewish owned press so consistently anti-Israel in every crisis?” Murdoch subsequently apologized after the tweet sparked heated criticism. “Rupert Murdoch and I have had our differences over many years, but I must join with him entirely in his recent tweeted complaint that most...

This recalls a brilliant quote by Lady Margaret Thatcher: "People think that at the top there isn't much room. They tend to think of it as an Everest. My message is that there is TONS of room at the top..."
  • Obama’s college age children see their bubble burst quicker than anyone could have thought

Well THAT didn’t take long. The confetti thrown on college campuses has barely been swept up after Barack Obama’s reelection and reality has smacked more of his children in the face. This is happened faster than any of these fools could have imagined. You will recall that Obama’s union children at Hostess found out what real life is about last week. This week his college student children got their dose of cold truth. The stroke across the student loan crowd’s face is the news that in the 3rd quarter the number of student loans in default has skyrocketed. Student loans...
  • The Biggest Economic Story of 2013... [not the fiscal cliff]

Sorry, but it is not the fiscal cliff. It is the complete shift in the US labor model, at least in the service sector, due to Obamacare. Here is what I am doing for the rest of the year -- working with every manager in my company so that as of January 1, 2013, none of our employees are working more than 28 hours a week. I think most readers know the reason -- we have got to get our company under 50 full time employees or else I am facing a bill from Obamacare in 2014 that will be...

The defense strategy in mob trials is so predictable: attack the government witness as an unlikeble rat, and claim the testimony is motivated by a deal to avoid prison for his own crimes. This strategy was at play in the ongoing trial targeting the Philadelphia Mafia when mobster-turned-informant Louis "Bent Finger Lou" Monacello was cross-examined as reported by Dave Schratwieser for WTXF. And last week the defense lawyer for reputed Genovese capo Anthony "Rom" Romanello also pulled this well-worn page from the playbook to cross-examine flipped Bonanno boss Joseph "Big Joey" Massino as reported by the New York Post: "You...

The United States of America has a State Department, it has row after row of people who speak badly every language from Arabic to Swahili badly, and it has rich donors who take on the task of acting as ambassadors to some foreign country every four to eight years. There are think-tanks, actual tanks and institutes dedicated to turning out papers on foreign policy. And despite all this, or perhaps because of all this, the country still has no foreign policy. Americans are by nature isolationist. American leaders, since Woodrow Wilson dumped ashes from his pipe on the Oval Office...
  • Another Court Loss: Preliminary Injunction Denied(CA, San Francisco)

Yesterday an NRA backed case that challenged San Francisco’s safe storage and ammunition restrictions lost in District Court. Reading the opinion here, I find myself stunned by this: Plaintiffs’ showing as to the severity of the burdens imposed by section 4512, “The Safe Storage Law,” is only marginally better. As noted above, section 4512 gives San Francisco residents the very set of rights the Heller plaintiff sought and obtained. San Franciscans may lawfully possess handguns in their own homes, may carry them in their own homes at any time, and may use them for self-defense without running afoul of any...

(Associated Posers) – WASHINGTON DC – The moderate Republicans who look for any excuse, no matter how flimsy to join the Democrats on any issue are “troubled” by the inability of Susan Rice and this administration to offer a reason to forget about Benghazi. This administration does not care to attempt to offer any plausible reasoning for its bald-faced lies to the American people for two weeks after the terrorist strike against the US mission in Benghazi, Egypt. Immediately after the terrorist attack this administration attempted to place the blame on a youtube video for “inflaming” Muslims and said that...

Hurricane Sandy victims in Staten Island are suffering far more than is being reported. Won’t you please help? We need help feeding our neighbors whose lives have been destroyed. We need your prayers as well. The Red Cross and FEMA are doing very good work, but even they are falling behind. I am a volunteer at a relief center set up by and for ordinary Staten Islanders with no government help. We are retired New York City Police Officers and Firemen. We serve 800 to 1000 meals a day from our own pockets and the generosity of other ordinary people....
