SEATTLE — Seattle City Councilmember-elect Kshama Sawant told Boeing machinists her idea of a radical option, should their jobs be moved out of state “The workers should take over the factories, and shut down Boeing’s profit-making machine,” Sawant announced to a cheering crowd of union supporters in Seattle’s Westlake Park Monday night.

Attacks on the Affordable Care Act have stepped up over the last week or so. You'd think that the healthcare reform known as Obamacare is leading to the wholesale loss of affordable insurance by huge sectors of the American public, many of whom will be impoverished by being forced into low-quality health plans at exorbitant prices. You'd think the entire reform is on "life support," as the usually judicious National Journal put it today, speculating that Democrats may soon start calling for its repeal. Don't buy the hype. The numbers tell an entirely different story. What they also demonstrate is...

The Obama administration was accused Wednesday of providing cribbed answers to 23 questions in the form the Senate received for the hearing of its nominee to lead the Department of Homeland Security -- as the nominee also ran into criticism from one senator who said he won't vote for him unless he makes a major border security pledge. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., got into a heated exchange with nominee Jeh Johnson, pressing him to commit to boost border security to 90 percent effectiveness. Johnson did not make the pledge. McCain said he, then, could not support his nomination. That was...

President Barack Obama’s job-approval rating slumped to the lowest point of any time that Quinnipiac University has surveyed during his presidency, the university said Tuesday. By a 54%-to-39% margin, people disapprove of Obama. The results compare to a slight 49%-45% disapproval on Oct. 1.

The agency responsible for implementing ObamaCare erroneously paid out millions of dollars on behalf of dead people in 2011, according to a report released Thursday by the Office of the Inspector General (OIG). The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) paid $23 million to providers, suppliers, Medicare Advantage organizations and prescription drug plan sponsors on behalf of beneficiaries who died between 2009 and 2011, the OIG found. That’s less than one-tenth of one-percent of total Medicare expenditures, and the report says CMS “has safeguards to prevent and recover” those payments. The OIG offered a handful of recommendations, such as...

Will those of us who see no difference between the failed Green Energy Socialist ideological experiment of the Solyndra Bankruptcy, and the failed Socialized Medical Insurance Tax Socialist ideological experiment of the Obamacare Bankruptcy vote in large enough numbers in the 2014 National Congressional Election to REPEAL and ABOLISH Obamacare, Boehnercare or another Federal "replacement" to Universal Socialized Medical Insurance?

<p>First of all, let’s call affordable health care what it really is: It’s socialized medicine.</p>
<p>I’ve had an opportunity to watch the Canadian version of affordable health care in action with all its limitations with my Canadian husband’s family. A couple of years ago, I was startled to see the cover of Maclean’s, a national Canadian magazine, showing a picture of a horse lying on an MRI table with the headline, “In Canada a horse gets better treatment than you.” It went on to say that young Canadian medical students have no incentive to become doctors to humans because they can’t make any money. Instead, there is a great surge of Canadian students becoming veterinarians. That’s where the money is. A Canadian animal can have timely MRIs, surgeries and any number of tests it needs to receive quality health care.</p>

Lib Cartoonist Ted Rall: 'Truth Behind ACA Mess Is Obama and His Gang of Golfing Buddies Are Idiots' By Noel Sheppard Created 10/27/2013 - 10:46am People familiar with liberal cartoonist and polemicist Ted Rall will be shocked by a piece he published at Daily Kos Friday wherein he actually agreed with former Alaska governor Sarah Palin. Trust me, they'll likely be even more shocked with what he had to say about President Obama. At the center of Rall's piece was Palin's October 20 article wherein she joined a number of conservative commentators in claiming ObamaCare was intentionallly screwed up in...

Did anyone see the O'Reilly Factor just now. They had this Professor Of New Testament at Notre Dame who claimed that Jesus was a socialist.

<p>PARIS (AP) - When economic inequalities helped foment the French Revolution, the legendary cry from on high was, "Let them eat cake!" Now, as modern France struggles economically, the cry from below is, "Let us work!"</p>
<p>As France battles high unemployment, rising taxes and pinched pocketbooks, the Socialist government has said its main focus is job creation. Now, critics of a more-than-century-old law that prevents most stores from opening on Sundays say revising it would be a good step in that direction.</p>

The real problem with the Lifeline Program that provides free cell phones – commonly known as “Obamaphones” – to low-income individuals is not that it’s been abused, but that not enough low-income Latinos are using the subsidized phones, according to The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC). “Probably about 30 to 35 percent of the people who qualify for Lifeline would be Latino, and yet only about 15 percent of the users of Lifeline are Latino,” Brent Wilkes, executive director of LULAC, said in a conference call Wednesday. When CNSNews asked for a comment on documented reports of fraud...

An Italian MP has described the 9/11 terrorist attacks, in which around 3,000 people were killed, as "an inside job" and slammed the official version of events as a "conspiracy". Bernini, an MP for the Five Star Movement (M5S) was speaking in parliament on Thursday, the 12th anniversary of the attacks. He said that the official version of the event has been "proved wrong from every point of view". "It’s clearly false and by now, the world has realized." On 11th September 2001 terrorists hijacked four planes in the US; two crashed into New York’s World Trade Centre, another struck...

French unemployment rose for the first time above 3.0 million in the second quarter, but in a sign the upward trend is tailing off, the unemployment rate rose by only 0.1 percentage point to 10.5 percent, official data showed on Thursday. … The high level of young people without work (24.6%) is a particular concern for the left-wing government, which is focusing on raising competitiveness and reducing unemployment. … President François Hollande promised in July to reverse the rising trend of unemployment by the end of the year, saying that economic recovery was on the doorstep, but this was ridiculed...

Former White House adviser David Axelrod said Friday that more changes to Obamacare will be coming as the program is implemented, and that’s how it should be. Axelrod was asked on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” whether in the wake of delays and changes to Obamacare there would be more tweaking moving forward. “I have to believe that’s going to be the case,” Axelrod said. “Any time you implement something like this, it’s new and there’s no doubt that it’s complicated, there will be changes along — there should be changes along the way.” Axelrod said the president will fix Obamacare as...

Recent remarks by the retired Anglican Bishop Desmond Tutu are not surprising for an Anglican prelate these days, but remain disturbing. Briefly put, the Archbishop says he would rather go to hell than go to a “homophobic heaven.” Here’s some more complete report page of his remarks, in yesterdays Washington Times. South Africa’s iconic retired archbishop, Desmond Tutu, said on Friday that if he had his pick, he’d go to hell before heading to a heaven that condemned homosexuality as sin. “I would not worship a God who is homophobic and that is how deeply I feel about this,” he...

I am sure there will be many commentaries from the right this weekend opening with Chris Matthew’s self-righteous apology on behalf of “all white people” for the incidents of racial profiling black men have had to endure in the United States. As a Christian American black man, I feel the need to respond individually to Mr. Matthews: You can keep it! I am not interested in empty gestures. “But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. For every man shall bear his own burden.” Galatians 6:4,5 I...

A long detailed list of curious coincidences in Obama’s life, emailed anonymously to Ben Fulford: This was e-mailed to me, author unknown: Obama just happened to know 60s far-left radical revolutionary William Ayers, whose father just happened to be Thomas Ayers, who just happened to be a close friend of Obama’s communist mentor Frank Marshall Davis, who just happened to work at the communist-sympathizing Chicago Defender with Vernon Jarrett, who just happened to later become the father-in-law of Iranian-born leftist Valerie Jarrett, who Obama just happened to choose as his closest White House advisor, and who just happened to have...

California's highways continue to rank among the worst in the nation -- a sorry distinction the state has held for more than a decade. The Golden State's highway system is ranked 47th among the 50 states in overall highway performance and efficiency in the latest annual highway report by the Reason Foundation. That is a slight improvement for California, which ranked 48th in the two previous studies and has ranked in the bottom 10 every year since 2000. Only Alaska, Rhode Island and Hawaii have worse roads, while North Dakota, Kansas and Wyoming have the best and most cost-effective highways....

At first blush, it seems crazy. The perpetually destitute Los Angeles Unified School District will spend $30 million to purchase thousands of iPad tablets to give away to students at 47 LAUSD campuses. At second blush, it seems crazier. This purchase all but commits the nation's second largest school district to hundreds of million of dollars of additional spending with Apple over the next two years. That's right, two years, hundreds of millions. At third blush, it seems like a rip-off. The LAUSD will pay $678 per iPad, even though you can belly up to the Genius Bar at the...
