After all the votes were tallied Nov. 4, incumbent Republican Sen. Norm Coleman of Minnesota led socialist Democrat Al Franken by 725 votes. The mandatory recount reduced the margin to 215. And then the lawyers took over. They won rule changes in the middle of the game that allowed election officials to add previously disqualified votes to Mr. Franken's total and subtract valid votes from Sen. Coleman's. They unearthed thousands of heretofore missing absentee ballots, all from counties that had gone overwhelmingly for Mr. Franken, and suddenly their boy was up by 312. Then the lawyers got the courts to...

Stop the presses! A member of the mainstream media actually said something nice about Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. I kid you not: "Saturday Night Live" senior producer Marci Klein said during an interview last week, "This is the most confident person I've ever met." Certainly not the impression created by CBS's Katie Couric or ABC's Charlie Gibson, wouldn't you agree? Appearing on Julie Menin's "Give and Take," Klein had absolutely nothing but nice things to say about the press's current public enemy #1 (video embedded below the fold with partial transcript, relevant section at 2:25):

LIVE from The Ticket, it's Marci Klein, senior producer of "Saturday Night Live," talking with the perceptive Julie Menin about life behind the cameras on the show that for more than a generation has made a fortune for NBC out of its political parodies. And shaped the political thinking (and votes?) of millions of Americans. What's it really like behind the scenes of NBC's "Saturday Night Live" when politicians like Sarah Palin and John McCain and Hillary Clinton come to play? Hint: McCain is really funny. Clinton not so much. Palin a real presence. Oh, and Tom Cruise missed his...

Remember When SNL Was Funny? Obama Ushers in New Era of Comedic Irresponsibility Everyone knows the old axiom about comedy. There’s always a grain of truth in that which an audience finds funny. Done well, comedy can make you squirm with its raw honesty. It has the power to inform our perspectives about politics and news just as any good journalist. Comedy helps provide insight into human flaws just as any good psychologist. Often self-deprecating and socially awkward, comedians themselves will deny their impact. Most comedians and writers prefer to think of themselves as lovable class clowns – laughing on...

ALBANY, N.Y. New York Gov. David Paterson, who criticized "Saturday Night Live" when it portrayed him as a blind bumbler, is forgiving President Barack Obama for his comment that he bowls as badly as a Special Olympian.

At one table Johnson tells a couple: "Our biggest export? Coffee. And our biggest import? Fat white tourists." When describing where he lives to a table of tourists: "Want to come visit? It's really easy to get to. Just drive through the shantytown, make a right at the meth lab, and you'll see a 15-year-old girl who got pregnant by an out-of-town businessman, then ask for her brother. That's me," says Johnson.

Finally a comedic response to Obama. Actually funny. In current news, since tonight.

Video at the link. Check out the latest Saturday Night Live skit: It seems as if comedians are still unable to find anything funny about President Obama, as apparently Obama's flaws are not yet clear. The main jokes feature Obama ripping Americans and President Bush. And, of course, Joe Biden. But seriously, what isn't funny about Joe Biden. Except the fact that he is somehow Vice President of the United States...

Tina Fey is the entertainer of the year? You betcha. Fey was voted The Associated Press' Entertainer of the Year, an annual honor chosen by newspaper editors and broadcast producers across the country. Fey was selected by AP members as the performer who had the greatest impact on culture and entertainment in 2008. The 38-year-old comedian bested runner-up Robert Downey Jr., whose comeback was capped with the blockbuster smash "Iron Man," and the third-place vote-getter, Heath Ledger, who posthumously wowed audiences as the Joker in "The Dark Knight." But it was Fey who most impressed voters largely with her indelible...

The Phoenix Police Department received a donation from Valley native and Saturday Night Live alum David Spade Monday morning. Spade, who stars on the CBS sitcom "Rules of Engagement," stopped at a northeast Phoenix precinct to give Police Chief Jack Harris a check. Mayor Phil Gordon and other local officials also were there. A police spokesman says Spade called police last week asking to donate to the rifle program. Police and the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association have been working toward getting at least 300 rifles for patrol officers. Spade, 44, grew up in Scottsdale and still has family in Arizona.

“Skippyjip,” who says he is not a huge fan of Will Ferrell’s, calls a rehearsal version of Ferrell’s upcoming stage show about George W. Bush “well-crafted,” “smart” and “very, very funny.” Co-written by Ferrell and his “SNL”/“Anchorman” collaborator Adam McKay, it opens Jan. 20 and closes March 15. HBO will telecast it live, likely on or near closing night. I love that they’ve already got a guy throwing shoes from the audience! Hey Harry, Long time reader, but this is my first scoop/review. I just saw a staged reading of an early version of Will Ferrell’s new one man Broadway...

After Kanye West's performance on "Saturday Night Live" over the weekend, the chattering classes are wringing their hands today over the gee-whiz revelation that, maybe underneath all that gratuitous Auto-Tune, West's voice might be a bit, as they say, "pitchy." We can go back and forth about the relative disaster-or-not qualities of his two-song set, but the hullabaloo over it begs for a few responses. First: hey, indie rockers, if you don't think that half your favorite beardo bands use things like Melodyne... But the second, and more crucial one, is this: What makes a "good" singer anyhow, and what...

"SNL Part II: On The Air", from the paragraph titled "High Times": "... Elitism: Is Democratic New York Gov. David Paterson his own man? If he is, he'll appoint an accomplished leader as senator. If he isn't, he'll kowtow to the party bosses and pick . . . a Kennedy. When the Empire State's legally-blind governor made a huge stink this week about an NBC "Saturday Night Live" skit that lampooned him, was he just conniving to convince New Yorkers how independent and determined he is — prior to caving in on Caroline Kennedy? In the days since Gov. Paterson was depicted by comic Fred Armisen as confused and disoriented, holding charts upside down...

Gov. David Paterson and the National Federation for the Blind lambasted a Saturday Night Live skit that ran over the weekend, in which the New York governor -- who is legally blind -- was depicted as confused and incompetent. "I can certainly take a joke," Paterson told a local television station. "The idea that disability goes hand-in-hand with inability to actually be effective or to run a state or run a business -- I think it's a very negative classification." Paterson spokesman Errol Cockfield sent a statement Monday to FOXNews.com, criticizing the skit as a tasteless joke that sought to...

Gov. Paterson didn't see the humor in a "Saturday Night Live" bit that mocked his blindness. During the "Weekend Update" segment of NBC's irreverent comedy show, actor Fred Armisen played Paterson, imitating his wandering eye, gravelly voice and blunt, self-effacing demeanor. But Paterson and advocates for the visually impaired didn't appreciate stock blind jokes that had Armisen pretending to be disoriented and wandering aimlessly. "I can take a joke," Paterson told reporters. But he called the SNL spoof a "third-grade depiction of people and the way they look" that could lead others to believe that "disability goes hand-in-hand with an...

Saturday Night Live pushed the envelope last night with a drop-dead impression of Gov. Paterson that mocked his blindness and past drug use. The skit features SNL castmember Fred Armisen as Paterson during a segment on "Weekend Update." Like disgraced Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, Paterson must appoint someone to the senate seat being vacated by Sen. Hillary Clinton. Blagojevich was arrested last week for trying to sell the seat left open by President-elect Barack Obama. Armisen, as Paterson, says he has three criteria: economic experience, upstate influence and someone with a disability who is completely unprepared for the job -...

Got this link to video in an email from a friend with this note: ======================== No wonder NBC pulled this. They are not big on the truth!!!!!! Apparently, Saturday Night Live did a "Bailout" skit, which has created some problems for NBC. I am told that they have pulled the video and apparently gone after anyone who put the video out there, because the video has all but disappeared off the internet. ============================ It is bang on and a keeper IMO.

Apparently, SNL did a "Bailout" skit, which has created some incredible problems for NBC. They have pulled the video and apparently gone after anyone who put the video out there, because the video has all but disappeared off the internet. It was up on multiple sites and virtually all the copies are gone now. There are a few new "edited" copies on the net. Now how much power would you have to have to pull something from the entire internet? Here is one copy still out there: Unedited SNL Bailout Skit

Though 2008 undoubtedly belongs to Barack Obama, it may also be remembered as the year of Saturday Night Live. It's not just that Tina Fey's impersonations of Sarah Palin will go down in history as the definitive entanglement of satire into the political process. It's also that a comedian best known for his work on Saturday Night Live has become embroiled in an epic battle that is still playing itself out, 10 days after the election, in the midwest state of Minnesota. Al Franken has done a Palin in reverse. While she found herself satirised on a late-night TV stage,...

There's a lot of Jeremiah Wright ads during the SNL Presidential Bash on NBC. Looks like money well spent by the GOP, especially since Obama has been cancelling on SNL. I've already seen the ad twice.

John McCain’s appearance on Saturday Night Live helped the show average a 9.0 household rating/ 20 share in metered markets. Saturday’s SNL was only beat out by Sarah Palin’s appearance a few weeks ago, which averaged 10.7 rating/ 24 share. McCain’s appearance helped SNL garner their second-highest rated program in more than a decade.

Palin: Tina Fey Better Hold Onto Her Sarah Palin Outfit COLUMBUS, OHIO) - Projecting confidence of a come-from-behind win on Election Day, Sarah Palin had some advice for a certain NBC actress who’s been a thorn in the Republican VP nominee’s side for almost two months. “Now speaking of great performances, did anyone catch John McCain last night on SNL — 'Saturday Night Live?'” Palin asked the crowd at an airport hangar rally here. “He was such a pro in those skits there with Tina Fey. And little advise for Tina—we want her to make sure that she’s holding on...

"Saturday Night Live" absolutely skewered MSNBC's Keith Olbermann last night accurately depicting the "Countdown" host as a pompous, dishonest buffoon who regularly takes things completely out of context, or just plain makes things up, in order to lambast Republicans. Frankly, it was shocking to see an NBC program so aggressively attack a fellow employee, and to watch the excessively liberal actor Ben Affleck, playing the part of Olbermann, participate in the skit.

VIDEO'S AT END OF THIS ARTICLE From introducing Saturday Night Live with Tina Fey as his running mate Sarah Palin next to him, to a fun skit selling stuff on QVC because it was the only channel he could afford to buy airtime on — an obvious poke at the Obama infomercial — McCain was funny, relaxed, and self effacing. Amazing since the election is only 3 days away! Even his wife Cindy got in on the act. She was featured in a cameo playing a jewelry saleswoman for a line of “McCain Fine Gold”, an obvious reference to...

Senator John McCain and Presidential Candidate is to appear on Saturday Night Live Tonight.
-
My friends, it's John McCain, live from New York, just three days before the election. Aides to the Republican presidential candidate said Friday that McCain will make a detour from battleground states to appear on "Saturday Night Live," the late-night show that has been a must-watch for many during the political season. Hosting the show this Saturday is actor Ben Affleck, a supporter of Democratic candidate Barack Obama. The musical guest is singer David Cook.

Ben Affleck, who’s hosting “Saturday Night Live” this week, was rehearsing a skit this afternoon mocking Keith Olbermann when Olbermann himself got past security to watch, according to a source with knowledge of the incident. A source described the skit as “savage,” in portraying Olbermann as a deranged person living at home with his mother. Affleck, said a source, became uneasy with Olbermann in attendance at the 3 p.m., closed-set rehearsal. But Olbermann, through a spokesman, was complimentary on his first time being mocked on "SNL" — a position his MSNBC colleague Chris Matthews has been in over the years....

No direct link but I just heard on the radio that Joe the Plumber is scheduled to make a cameo with Sen. John McCain on SNL tomorrow night (November 01) around 11:35PM ET (at the start of the live broadcast). Given how well Palin's appearance was received on SNL a week or two back, this should help our side out, IMO, especially just a little more than 48 hours prior to the election.

Video here. With acts of violence by emboldened Obama supporters growing, take 59 seconds to step away from all that and watch this lighthearted interview with the one bright and happy part of Election 2008: Sarah Palin. This interview shows her passing by Tina Fey while on Saturday Night Live, plus other brief highlights and her sitdown interview at the MyFox station. When she says, "I beg to differ" at the beginning, that is in response to elitists saying that a citizen like herself isn't qualified to manage the government, even though she has done that more successfully with Alaska...

Perhaps the only institution in America whose approval rating is beneath that of Congress is the media. Both have won their reputations the hard way. They earned them. Consider the fawning indulgence shown insider Joe Biden with the dripping contempt visited on outsider Sarah Palin. Twice last weekend, Biden grimly warned at closed-door meetings that a great crisis is coming early in the term of President Obama: "Mark my words. It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. ... Remember I said it standing here if you don't remember anything else...
