A group in Texas is giving away free shotguns to residents and they will soon be coming to Indianapolis to do the same. Justin Dupuy with the Armed Citizen Project says they are offering free shotguns to residents in high-crime areas. “There‘s people in their homes that are scared to walk from their car to their house for fear someone‘s going to stick ‘em up and we‘d like that to change,” Dupuy says. “We‘d like someone to be there and empower them with a weapon. Those who want a shotgun must submit to a background check and must go through...

Converts any 12-gauge shotgun into an anti-aircraft platform with 1 km vertical range instantly... I honestly haven't done much research on the legalities involved here, but if somebody's bound-and-determined to nip unwarranted snooping/amateur peeping toms in the bud, the ammo's already commercially available- and with specially-formulated propellant and depleted uranium buckshot, no less: Big Brother is watching, and with modern technology, if Big Brother can see it, he can turn it into a giant smoking crater with just the press of a button. Even your secret remote wilderness bunker is no match for today’s military drones. In partnership with Tacnition Ammo, Lucky...

A clerk grabbed a robber’s shotgun during a struggle Wednesday night and the robber fled without getting any cash. Shortly after 8:30 p.m., a man walked into the Rushmere Food Mart at 4761 Old Stage Hwy. and pointed the shotgun at the clerk, who grabbed it, according to a news release from the Isle of Wight County Sheriff’s Office. The clerk gained control of the shotgun during the struggle and the robber fled the store. No one was hurt. The gunman’s description was vague, but the release said he has a medium build and wore a black sweatshirt with a...

In an extreme survival situation where the appropriate amount of ammunition for the type of firearm you’re carrying can’t necessarily be guaranteed, what would you do? Carry multiple types of firearms to increase your chances of coming across ammo you can use? You could do that, or you could have an adapter system that comes in a handy pouch that allows one 12-gauge shotgun to take 11 different types of ammunition. The creator of Gear Up’s X Caliber Shotgun Gauge Adapter System, Tim Ralston, told TheBlaze it’s like carrying 11 guns in one.

For this experiment, we froze Vienna Sausages using dry ice to see if we could shoot them from a shotgun. Using Federal Multipurpose (birdshot) loads, we cut off the crimps, and inserted the frozen wieners in the shell, starting out with small pieces and ending up shooting the whole thing. The results are unexpected and scary.

Shooter takes VP Joe Biden’s advice — and lands in trouble with cops Vice President Joseph R. Biden told a Field & Stream reporter in a published report on Monday that if “you want to keep someone away from your house, just fire the shotgun through the door.” That same day, a 22-year-old man in Virginia Beach, Va., did just that — and was charged with reckless handling of a firearm. WAVY 10 reported that the man was in his bedroom when two armed masked men leaned through the window and warned him to close the bedroom door. The 22-year-old...

More bad firearm advice from Joe Biden – Shoot through a door Posted by Steve McGough on February 28, 2013 Actually, this could be criminal. If someone told you it was perfectly acceptable to fire a round through a door at a target you had not identified, how do you think that would go over? More Vice President Joe Biden advice on self-defense strategies. First it was warning shots for the heck of it, and now we have the guy suggesting this? While on the discussion of modern sport rifles… F&S: What about the other uses, for self-defense and target...

Vice President Joe Biden’s fondness for his shotguns has been documented by the Washington Free Beacon, and he continued to promote the use of these dangerous weapons in an interview with the outdoor website, Field and Stream. F&S: What about the other uses, for self-defense and target practice? BIDEN: Well, the way in which we measure it is—I think most scholars would say—is that as long as you have a weapon sufficient to be able to provide your self-defense. I did one of these town-hall meetings on the Internet and one guy said, “Well, what happens when the end days...

Who knew that Joe Biden was divinely omniscient on tactical weaponry? This is indeed a Gawd send. For millions of years bad actors have been stalking good folks, and good folks have devised numerous tools with which to defend themselves. In just the field of firearms dozens of categories exist, offering a bewildering choice to people needing to forestall beatings, rapes, riots and hot home invasions in settings rural, urban, suburban and hellish (e.g. Chicago). And yet Old Joe has triangulated all scenarios and concluded that everyone can defend themselves with a single firearm and tactic. “Get a double barreled...

A punt gun is a type of extremely large shotgun used in the 19th and early 20th centuries. A single shot could kill over 50 waterfowl resting on the water’s surface. The hunter would maneuver the entire boat in order to aim the gun. In the United States, this practice depleted stocks of wild waterfowl and by the 1860s most states had banned the practice. “Since Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee in 1897 there has been a punt gun salute every Coronation and Jubilee in Cowbit, Lincolnshire, England” - Wikipedia

I'm sure we've all seen by now the "photo op" of President Obama shooting skeet. If he's shooting skeet then I'm Daffy Duck. Skeet [clay disks of bright colors] are thrown by a machine from two towers erected to the right and left of the shooter. (There are other set ups like ones used for "sporting clays" but that isn't represented in the White House photo release.) Usually, the skeet is thrown about ten or more feet above the ground. The shooters are arranged in a semi-circle at various stations around the semi-circle. The "group" of shooters lines up at...

I have been surfing the web looking at tactical shotguns. I really don't care for the term "tactical", but what I am looking for is certainly not a bird gun. Here are my requirements: 1. Barrel Type: A breacher barrel. Does anyone have experience with a breacher choke tube? Do they work? How much to they extend the length of the gun? 2. Barrel Length: Shorter is better to me as maneuverability is important. 3. Stock/Overall gun length: What are the pro/cons of pistol grip, traditional stock and folding stock? I want something very sturdy, as a primary requirement is...

The FBI has released their 2007-2011 “Murder Victims by Weapon” report. The results are contradictory to anti-gun industry claims that relaxing the ban on assault weapons will cause more crime. The report indicates you are more likely to be killed by hands or feet than by a rifle or shotgun. Since 2007 there has been a 16.2% decline in murders committed with personal weapons which are defined as “hands, fists, feet etc.” The number of murders of this type in 2011 totaled 728. While gun ownership has dramatically increased since 2007, murders for both the shotgun and rifle categories have...

From the February 2012 issue of GunNews (Guns Save Life) - At the January meeting, GSL President John Boch brought up the story from New Year’s Eve of Sarah McKinley from Blanchard, OK. This 18-year-old mother lost her husband to cancer on Christmas Day 2011 and less than a week later, two opportunistic, armed thugs try to break into her home, probably to rape her. She barricaded her front door with her couch, then got her shotgun, her baby and her phone and retreated to the back of the residence. For twenty-one minutes she waited for police to arrive as...
