Sharpton, Harvard Prof “Abusing Police While Black,” Says Rev. PetersonRev. Jesse Lee Peterson, Founder and President of BOND, the Brotherhood Organization of a New Destiny, today repudiated Harvard Professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr. and Al Sharpton for their “unfounded and reckless” allegations of racism against Cambridge, Massachusetts police. Cambridge police dropped a disorderly conduct charge against Gates yesterday; he had been arrested at his home on July 16 after police responded to a break in. Gates had locked himself out and reportedly forced his way inside. When officers asked him to show identification Gates reportedly snapped, “No, I will not!”...

The Rev. Al Sharpton is taking up the banner of Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr., accusing Cambridge cops of racism for arresting Gates, and vowing to stand by his side at an arraignment next month. “I’ve heard of driving while black, and I’ve heard of shopping while black. But I’ve never heard of living in a home while black,” said Sharpton, a New York minister who has made a national name for himself by seizing on cases of alleged racism. Gates, 58, an acclaimed Harvard University academic and black-history documentarian, was arrested Thursday after an incident at his Cambridge...

Michael Jackson is dead, the world mourns and our loss is heaven's gain...so sez Al Sharpton.

Let the dead bury Michael Jackson "… And let the dead bury the dead." –Matthew 8:22 Michael Joseph Jackson won 13 Grammies and sold more than 750 million records worldwide over the span of four decades. This same person also exhibited bizarre behavior and faced child sexual abuse allegations. Yet, Rev. Al Sharpton, Michael's entertainer friends, and the major TV networks covered up this dark side at Michael's memorial and elevated him to hero status. The so-called memorial was about unrealistically lifting up a black Michael as the "king" in order to lift up blacks, and, in so doing, lowering...

On a recent radio show hosted by the Rev. Al Sharpton, a caller phoned in with a theory about Michael Jackson's death. He blamed Sarah Palin. Yes, according to the caller, "maybe she did something to Michael Jackson," and "maybe she's stepping down because something's about to come out." Now, crazy people calling into radio shows isn't news — I used to call "Loveline" 20 times a night, just to complain about the pixies living in my teeth. But I love Sharpton's response. He said, "All right.... that's interesting. I'll put it out, we'll see. I don't know."

Gov. Sarah Palin had something to do with the death of pop star Michael Jackson. That's an interesting theory proclaims radio host and Jackson eulogizer opportunist Rev. Al Sharpton. Our friend Brian Maloney at Radio Equalizer has the story. You can hear an recording of the program in question by clicking HERE. I've pasted Maloney's transcript below: FEMALE CALLER (31:50): He (Michael Jackson) is truly the soundtrack of my life. I also have a theory about Sarah Palin as well and I'm going to put it out there on radio, hopefully someone can investigate. But, I think maybe she did...

I got to Staples Center some time after the parade of Ringling Bros. elephants and just before a bikini-clad woman who held aloft a sign that said, "Go Vegetarian for the Man in the Mirror." I suppose it goes without saying that not all memorial services draw the same crowd. Speaking of crowds, this one was way smaller than the city had planned for. There were hundreds of people on the street rather than hundreds of thousands, which means that a few million tax dollars were spent to have police officers stand around with their arms folded.... maybe the only...

As a society, we generally find vultures disgusting, and not simply because they are physically unattractive. The entire life of the vulture depends on its search for death. As one of natures most successful scavengers, they are usually seen hovering on the wind, gliding through the air on their large outstretched wings as they survey the ground for the dead or dying. In human society, we also have our vultures as well, those who profit from death and misery. Very few human beings have been as successful a scavenger as the *ahem* Reverend Al Sharpton. His latest victim? Michael Jackson....

BY: Actress Archives | Monday, July 6, 2009 Never one not to make his opinion heard, the 'Reverend' Al Sharpton is speaking out about Michael Jackson's death - and he has demands. Sharpton wants the media to lay off tarnishing Jackson's image, and he wants Jackson to have his own commemorative stamp. And while we're not going to say whether we agree or disagree with Sharpton about either of these things, we will say this...we bet Al Sharpton is glad that he's finally got something to talk about again. Speaking at Los Angeles' First AME church, Sharpton told parishioners that...

Michael Jackson's death: Sharpton plans meeting with family to 'preserve and protect Michael's legacy' June 28, 2009 The Rev. Al Sharpton is scheduled to meet with members of the Jackson family at their Encino compound this evening, making him the second prominent African American civil rights leader to advise the family in the wake of Michael Jackson's death. His visit comes a day after the Rev. Jesse Jackson said the family was concerned about the medical care Michael Jackson received at his Holmby Hills home before he died Thursday. A Sharpton spokesman told Newsday that he was going to "meet...

...The Rev Al Sharpton, the headline-grabbing US civil rights leader, has announced plans to visit the four Uighurs in Bermuda today to support Bermuda’s “humanitarian gesture”. The Uighurs say that they are tired and may not attend the meeting...

Guess who's going to meet the Uighurs? The Rev. Al Sharpton is Bermuda-bound, hoping to meet with the four former Gitmo prisoners. He'll also show some love for the island nation's embattled prime minister, who has caught heat for allowing them to be resettled in the Atlantic paradise. "I am going to Bermuda to show support for the humanitarian gesture extended to these four men by the nation of Bermuda when even the courts said they deserved to be released," Sharpton said in a statement Friday.

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s immigration circus got another ring Friday with Al Sharpton’s visit to Phoenix. The hard-line sheriff and the controversial civil-rights advocate, who has been a vocal critic of Arpaio’s immigration policies, met Friday afternoon in downtown Phoenix. The meeting resulted in protestors from both sides showing up at the Wells Fargo office complex in downtown Phoenix, site of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, where he and Sharpton were meeting. Phoenix police set up buffer zones to separate dozens of anti- and pro-Arpaio protestors. Arpaio protestors include those contending his immigration and crime sweeps unfairly target Hispanics....

PHOENIX — The Rev. Al Sharpton on Friday called for opponents of Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who has aggressively cracked down on illegal immigration, to videotape alleged racial profiling by the sheriff’s office. The civil rights leader said the videos will help the U.S. Department of Justice in an investigation of alleged civil rights abuses by Arpaio’s office. “We’re gonna start some freedom rides around this county, to show how people of a certain skin color are treated different than other people,” Sharpton told a crowd of several hundred people at the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Phoenix. Sharpton...

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- The Peabody Hotel in Memphis has filed a lawsuit against the Rev. Al Sharpton's civil rights group claiming some bills from a convention last year haven't been paid. The Memphis Daily News reported that the lawsuit in Shelby County Circuit Court against Sharpton's New York City-based National Action Network seeks nearly $70,000. The lawsuit doesn't detail what the charges are for, and Peabody officials declined to comment. The group's 2008 convention was held in Memphis to coincide with the 40th anniversary of the assassination of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King in the city.

It's difficult to recall the 2004 Democratic presidential primary, given the personalities and duration of the 2008 battle in the party. But who will ever forget the comic relief provided by the Rev. Al Sharpton during his 2004 bid for the White House? Now, five years later, the Federal Election Commission (FEC) has reached a settlement with the outspoken black preacher and his campaign totaling $285,000 in civil penalties. Also named in the settlement were campaign treasurer Andrew Rivera and, among other enterprises, the National Action Network, a nonprofit Mr. Sharpton founded and has served as president. The FEC-initiated case...

Don’t think for a second the election of a Democratic African American president would silence the Rev. Al Sharpton. He was his usual self Wednesday, ripping into the new administration. “They appear like smiling liberals, but they are all a bunch of condescending bigots,” Sharpton said while speaking on a education panel regarding the release of “The Economic Impact of the Achievement Gap in America’s schools.”

The Discoverthenetworks.org NewsReal blog reportsAl Sharpton and his National Action Network (NAN) have been fined $285,000 for violating election rules during the racial agitator’s 2004 presidential bid. Sharpton’s campaign, according to the Federal Election Commission (FEC), illegally accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars in contributions from private sources. In addition, the campaign “kept poor records of its activities and expenditures” and commingled its funds with those of the NAN. All of these activities are prohibited under...

Al Sharpton and his group, the National Action Network (NAN), have been fined $285,000 by the Federal Election Commission (FEC) for violating a host of election laws during Sharpton’s 2004 presidential campaign during which he received 2% of the Democratic primary vote. NLPC, which filed Complaints against Sharpton on February 2, 2004 and February 6, 2004, was notified of the FEC action last week and make it public today. As NLPC Chairman Ken Boehm was quoted in the New York Post today: We are pleased that the FEC has ruled on our Complaint and found that Sharpton ran an “off...

The Rev. Al Sharpton and his National Action Network have been slapped with a record $285,000 fine for violating a slew of federal election rules during his 2004 bid for president, the Post has learned. In a decision to be made public next month, the Federal Election Commission found that Sharpton's Democratic primary campaign accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars in contributions from private sources. It also "kept poor records of its activities and expenditures" and commingled funds with Sharpton's civil-rights group. All are prohibited under the Federal Election Campaign Act. Earlier this month, Sharpton and former campaign manager...

Reverend Al Sharpton 106 West 145th Street Harlem, New York City, New York 10039 Fax: 212 690 3070 Dear Reverend Sharpton: I have read about you with much interest since learning of the protest you plan to lead against me in Maricopa County in June as a way to force my resignation or removal from office. As the elected Sheriff who, so far has been elected to five consecutive four-year terms, I answer to the four million residents of...

ALBANY — When Gov. David A. Paterson met recently with a group of mostly black legislators, he got an earful. They wanted to know his strategy for recovering from his disastrous first year. They complained that their constituents were furious over Mr. Paterson’s cuts to hospitals and schools, and that his administration had failed to consult with them on important issues. It fell to the Rev. Al Sharpton, a Paterson confidant at the meeting, in late March, to make peace. Better communication was needed, Mr. Sharpton said, but he added that lawmakers should stand behind Mr. Paterson — especially now....

The Reverend Al Sharpton must be running out of things to protest. Yesterday he went after Sheriff Joe Arpaio. According to a report by Reuters, the opportunist Sharpton, called on Sheriff Joe to resign accusing him of racially profiling Hispanics because of his attempts to enforce US immigration laws: Under a deal allowing them to enforce federal immigration laws, the deputies have arrested more than 1,500 people who they determined were in Arizona illegally, triggering street protests and condemnation from Latino activists who accuse him of racial profiling." I am first calling for the resignation and or removal of Sheriff...

NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. civil rights activist Al Sharpton weighed into a fight over an Arizona sheriff's immigration sweeps on Tuesday, accusing him of racially profiling Hispanics and urging him to step down. Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio has dispatched deputies into Hispanic communities in the Phoenix area, where they stop people and arrest anyone who cannot prove he or she is a legal U.S. resident. Ford Motor Company has applied for $5 billion in taxpayer funds for retooling, and has access to an additional $9 billion line of credit from the government. Yet, the company was a financial sponsor of Al Sharpton’s national convention last week that featured a speech by Vice-President Joseph Biden. In a letter today to Steven Rattner, who directs President Obama's auto industry task force, I wrote, Ford’s financial support for Sharpton places into doubt the judgment of Ford executives. I can think of no expenditure further removed from the core mission of saving the company and the American auto industry than...

Vice President Joe Biden is traveling to New York Friday to address members of a national civil rights organization founded by the Rev. Al Sharpton. Biden, who will speak at the National Action Network's 11th annual conference in Manhattan, is the first sitting vice president to attend the Harlem-based group's yearly meeting. Former President Bill Clinton gave a speech to the conference in 2007. President Barack Obama has chosen Biden to oversee the enactment of the $787-billion federal stimulus package Obama signed earlier this year. Some political experts acknowledged the Obama administration doesn't share the same politics on race as...

Mayor Bloomberg heaped praise on outspoken activist the Rev. Al Sharpton Thursday, calling him a "calming influence on the city." Bloomberg, who is running for a third term, showed his reverence for the reverend before speaking at the preacher's annual National Action Network Convention. [Snip] Sharpton threatened to "shut this city down" last year after detectives were cleared in the killing of Sean Bell. His protests temporarily halted traffic in parts of the city and hundreds were arrested. [Snip] The police union, which routinely clashes with Sharpton, declined comment on the mayor's remarks.

The Rev. Al Sharpton will score a big personal and political coup tomorrow when Vice President Biden makes a visit to the Sheraton New York hotel in midtown to address the annual meeting of the National Action Network, Sharpton's organization. Biden will push Obama's economic stimulus plan and lay out the administration's commitment to civil rights and social justice, according to sources. That could mean anything from strengthening anti-discrimination laws to investigating allegations of racial profiling by police. In addition to Biden, whose schedule was confirmed by a White House press official, Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and HUD Secretary...

The Rev. Al Sharpton owed at least $1.8 million in back taxes before striking a sweetheart deal with the feds last summer that chopped the bill almost in half and kept him out of the slammer, The Post has learned. A series of federal liens -- the most recent of which was filed earlier this month -- provide a window into the massive tax debts the firebrand activist incurred since 2002 as he remade himself into a millionaire media personality, newly released documents show. Treasury Department officers say Sharpton owed $351,798 from 2007, according to a document filed March...

When the New York Post went ape in a cartoon, the enemies of freedom and equality showed their colors. Apparently the time has come to silence all critics of President Obama! He is the leader of our country and must not be questioned! Therefore, anyone who dares to make a critical reference to him or any of his policies is an enemy of the United States and should be destroyed. Furthermore, every word or phrase used to challenge his authority will be meticulously parsed to discover hidden meanings. As for Rupert Murdoch, the News Corp Chairman, who recently apologized for a cartoon at his...

The Rev. Al Sharpton was still not satisfied Tuesday after New York Post owner Rupert Murdoch issued an unprecedented personal apology over a controversial cartoon that was branded racist. Standing on the steps of City Hall, flanked by several City Council members and civil rights leaders, Sharpton continued his calls for a boycott over the illustration, which critics say compared President Obama to a chimpanzee. He also demanded that the billionaire businessman explain how he will ensure that a similar gaffe will not occur in the future. [Snip] Sharpton called on Murdoch to come up with a plan for...

Earlier this morning, CNN had a link to my blog - specifically to an article I "penned" called "Race Baiter On The Attack." It was part of their "From The Blogs" section, underneath an article about Rupert Murdoch's apology for publishing a cartoon deemed "offensive" by race-baiters and victimized societal dinosaurs. My "inbox" and I may never be on speaking terms again. After the ruckus of what should've been less than a non-story, it indeed, may be time to resurrect and redefine the term "yellow journalism." Fear, intimidation, apology and appeasement are becoming the cornerstones of today's free press. The mainstream...

Anheuser-Busch gave him six figures, Colgate-Palmolive shelled out $50,000 and Macy's and Pfizer have contributed thousands to the Rev. Al Sharpton's charity. Almost 50 companies - including PepsiCo, General Motors, Wal-Mart, FedEx, Continental Airlines, Johnson & Johnson and Chase - and some labor unions sponsored Sharpton's National Action Network annual conference in April. Terrified of negative publicity, fearful of a consumer boycott or eager to make nice with the civil-rights activist, CEOs write checks, critics say, to NAN and Sharpton - who brandishes the buying power of African-American consumers. In some cases, they hire him as a consultant. The cash...

Gutless recreants. NEW YORK (WPIX) -- Outrage and protests continue to mount over The NY Post's controversial cartoon interpreted by many as comparing President Obama to a chimpanzee that was shot and killed by police in Stamford, Connecticut last week. Reverend Al Sharpton on Sunday called for a special City Council hearing, urging the city to refrain from advertising in The Post. And he suggested athletes and entertainers shun the paper's writers because of Wednesday's cartoon, which compared President Obama with a crazed chimp by some interpretations. "This is not the end," Lee told the demonstrators, who marched in front of the Post's offices near Rockefeller Center shouting, "Shut...

Like cockroaches and reality television, old race-baiters die hard. The truth is, however, there just hasn’t been a whole lot for Al Sharpton to do in recent times, except maybe tinker around with his Turbo Tax software.
