Last week's SNL opener was a hopeful start for those of us who believed the crew at SNL would never find anything humorous about the Obama presidency. This week they were handed a golden premise on a Nobel Prize platter and fell flat. Just Karl of Patterico and Green Room fame saw it coming 13 hours before air time. That alone was funnier than anything in the skit. After a long look around conservative websites, I have come to the conclusion we know how to spot humor and how to write it. Here is a top ten list that I...

See the video below of the Saturday Night Live (SNL) skit mocking President Obama, fresh off the surprising announcement that he'd received the Nobel Peace Prize. The announcement was met by "shock and awe" by both the Right and Left of the political persuasion.

SNL is having some fun with Barack Obama, The One. Tonight it's a spoof about his Nobel Rhetoric Prize. (I wonder if CNN will fact check this one?) Last week, Saturday Night Live spoofed his complete lack of accomplishments. In case you missed that one, here's the video: Video: SNL Spoofs Obama’s Lack of Accomplishments

"After reviewing hundreds of hours of 'Shark Week' footage and consulting with leading ichthyologists, CBS News can now confirm that the so-called 'Land Shark' made famous on 'Saturday Night Live' is a hoax," Katie Couric assured viewers. Meanwhile, over on MSNBC, the crack news team continued its in-depth exposé on "SNL's" faked assassination of the Little Rascals' Buckwheat. Sleuths working for The New York Times revealed that not only was John Belushi not an Olympic decathlete, but his touted regimen of cigarettes and "little chocolate donuts" was, according to experts in sports medicine, "not even remotely nutritious." Meanwhile, a report...

Hats off to Saturday Night Live for their hilarious Obama skit last night. SNL actor Fred Armisen, in spite of performing a lousy impersonation, totally annihilated Obama for his lack of accomplishments during his nine months in the Oval Office thus far.

Tina Fey recently won an Emmy for her uncanny resemblance and venomous impersonation of Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin. In accepting her award, Fey was her typical, obloquious self saying, “Mrs. Palin is an inspiration to working mothers everywhere because she bailed on her job right before Fourth of July weekend. You are living my dream. Thank you, Mrs. Palin!” 2008 marked a departure from the memorable, more cordial years of Chevy Chase as a clumsy Gerald Ford or Dana Carvey’s hilarious H.W. Bush: “wouldn’t be prudent.” Fey was downright mean.

In the spirit of Weekend Update's ( That's Saturday Night Live when it was funny for you youngsters) coverage of the death of General Francisco Franco, I thought you all would like to know that Michael Jackson is still DEAD! PS: By the way General Francisco Franco is still dead too!

Among the 2009 inductees into the Rhode Island Radio Hall of Fame last night was 91-year old Dominick “Don” Pardo, who’s voice is known to millions for his role as the announcer for NBC-TV’s Saturday Night Live and countless network television game shows. Pardo began his career at WJAR/Providence (now WHJJ) in 1938 before moving on to a 60-year career at NBC Television where he was one of only two individuals — the other was comedian Bob Hope — who held lifetime contracts with the network. Officially retired four years ago, Pardo, who now lives in Arizona, has been flying...

Video here. With acts of violence by emboldened Obama supporters growing, take 59 seconds to step away from all that and watch this lighthearted interview with the one bright and happy part of Election 2008: Sarah Palin. This interview shows her passing by Tina Fey while on Saturday Night Live, plus other brief highlights and her sitdown interview at the MyFox station. When she says, "I beg to differ" at the beginning, that is in response to elitists saying that a citizen like herself isn't qualified to manage the government, even though she has done that more successfully with Alaska...

Was she funny? You betcha! Sarah Palin raised the roof last night on her "Saturday Night Live" debut, yukking it up with Alec Baldwin and executive producer Lorne Michaels as she watched dead-ringer Tina Fey lampoon her at a fake news conference. -snip- Palin returned to the stage for the Weekend Update segment, bopping to a rap by Amy Poehler while Eskimos, a moose, and a snowsuit-clad man danced in the background. -snip-

HERE. She personally confirmed it just this morning. In an interview conducted just this morning, Vice Presidential hopeful Sarah Palin revealed that she will, after weeks of rumors and hearsay, in fact be appearing on "Saturday Night Live" this weekend. "I don't know what they have lined up for us," Palin said on the Neal Boortz radio show. "I haven't seen the script. I haven't even been hinted at what that script will say." She says there is an important reason behind her heading to the hit sketch show. "I just want to be there to show Americans that we'll...

On last nights Saturday Night Live, there was an eight minute clip that focused on the NY Times coverage of Sarah Palin. The skit addressed a fictional meeting where the Peter Conolly Assignment Editor of the NY Times explains his plans to send 50 reporters to Alaska, to dig dirt on the Palins. The media may try to play this off as SNL bringing up the topic of incest in the Palin household. The real story is that SNL framed the NY Times and it's staff for precisely what kind of tactics they have used against the Palins so far. ...

A week after a high-profile send-up of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin on "Saturday Night Live," the NBC comedy show returned to making fun of the Alaskan governor in a skit where New York Times reporters sought to probe the possibility Palin's husband was having sex with the couple's own daughters. "What about the husband?" asked a Times reporter during a mock assignment meeting for the paper. "You know he's doing those daughters. I mean, come on. It's Alaska." The assignment editor for the Times, portrayed by actor James Franco, responded: "He very well could be. Admittedly, there is...

The true extent to which Palin-mania has come to dominate the TV news cycle hit home for me last night as I flipped through the channels on the Palin campaign’s charter flight from Reno to Denver. Within a period of about a half hour, I caught the much-anticipated debut of Tina Fey as Sarah Palin on “Saturday Night,” as well as seperate Palin documentaries on MSNBC and CNN. Tina Fey was such a dead ringer for Palin that I was tempted to open the curtains that separate the governor and her staff from the media to make sure she was...

John McCain is 71 years old, and his age has provided late-night comics with some easy punch lines. On "Saturday Night Live," he joined in. "I ask you, what should we be looking for in our next president?" McCain said. "Certainly, someone who is very, very, very old." The certain Republican presidential nominee appeared in a phony campaign ad in which he promised to put an end to runaway government spending, claiming he had never sought money for his home state, Arizona. "Controlling government spending isn't just about Republicans or Democrats," he said. "It's about being able to look your...

SAN ANTONIO It took many months and the mockery of "Saturday Night Live" to make it happen, but the lumbering beast that is the press corps finally roused itself from its slumber Monday and greeted Barack Obama with a menacing growl. The day before primaries in Ohio and Texas that could effectively seal the Democratic presidential nomination for him, a smiling Obama strode out to a news conference at a veterans facility here. But the grin was quickly replaced by the surprised look of a man bitten by his own dog. Reporters from the Associated Press and Reuters went after...

Lorne Michaels Defends Casting Of Non-Black Man in Sketch By Paul Farhi Washington Post Staff Writer Friday, February 29, 2008; Page C01 When Barack Obama announced his candidacy for president last year, some observers questioned whether the senator from Illinois was "black enough" to embody the hopes and aspirations of African Americans. Now a variation on that theme has emerged: Is Fred Armisen, who is not African American, "black enough" to embody Obama on "Saturday Night Live"? Debate over that question has been pinging around the Internet since Armisen, a veteran cast member, donned darker makeup to portray the Democratic...

I guess the Hillary Clinton campaign spent a lot of time the last few days in debate prep looking for a response with the power of her "change you can Xerox" line that flopped so badly in the last event. Duane Patterson finds this gem at the 16th minute of last night's debate, which neatly coincides with Hillary's long-overdue 16th minute of her 15 minutes of fame. In this clip, she paints herself as the victim of the entire debate process ... and uses Saturday Night Live as proof. No, I'm not kidding: Click here to go to the page...

Mike Huckabee on Saturday Night Live 2/23/08. http://youtube.com/watch?v=INICB1BFhCI

Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee met with conservative Christian leader James Dobson Friday as he vied to pick up the Colorado delegates pledged to Mitt Romney, who dropped out of the race. Huckabee's visit comes two weeks after Dobson endorsed him for president. "Personally it was a great encouragement," Huckabee said of the endorsement. "I think it also was an extraordinary boost for our campaign because Dr. Dobson is seen as such a true national leader when it comes to issues of life, marriage and family." Huckabee is an ordained Baptist minister and a former governor of Arkansas. His campaign...

RUSH: All right, my friends, (laughing) I confess, I went to bed with Barbara Boxer last night, I woke up with Hillary Clinton. (Laughing.) Yes. Yes, my friends, I tuned in to C-SPAN. I really, really tried to stay awake. I really, really tried. But this -- (laughing) -- who's the real woman between Barbara Boxer and Hillary Clinton? I don't know. (laughing). A-hem. Well, let's leave that alone. I mean, gentlemen don't tell. But this political stunt last night, this all-nighter, the Senate sleepover, Harry's hoax, was nothing more than a fundraiser. My friends, the only people in the...

Wow, I haven't watched SNL in years, but the skit did about Nancy pelosi, hits the nail on the head. It was just as good as Dan Akyroyd's impression of Jimmah Carter. Brings back memories of Miss Lillian riding the bike to solve the energy crisis.

Tom Hanks Provokes Catholics’ Ire As if starring in one of the highest profile blasphemies of history was not enough, The Da Vinci Code star Tom Hanks has added insult to injury with a blasphemous skit on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live,” on May 6. During the show’s beginning monologue, cast members dressed as clergymen and “clergywomen” reportedly derided Mr. Hanks for starring in The Da Vinci Code and threatened him with eternal damnation. The blasphemous parody escalated as actor Jason Sudeikis appeared dressed as “Jesus Christ,” saying that he forgave Mr. Hanks. Mr. Hanks responded, “So you have seen the...

Actor Charles Rocket committed suicide Oct. 7 in Connecticut. He was 56. Rocket was the Weekend Update anchor on "Saturday Night Live" in 1980 and 1981, and was fired from the show after saying "f---" on the air. He went on to make numerous appearances on TV shows and in features. Born Charles Claverie in Bangor, Maine, he attended the Rhode Island School of Design. He was active in the burgeoning RISD arts scene, where he formed the band the Fabulous Motels and then became a newscaster under the name Charles Kennedy. He worked on newscasts in Colorado Springs and...

Those who are long of tooth recall Chevy Chase’s news routine on Saturday Night Live, especially his weekly riff, “Generalissimo Franco is still dead.” That was based on true stories of the removal of assorted organs from the dying General, with doctors’ assurances he was still alive. That also led to Don Henley’s classic, “Dirty Laundry,” with the lines, “Is the head dead yet? Get the widow on the set....” This is ancient news, but it’s relevant to the Democrats. Like the Generalissimo, that Party has had major organs removed, but is allegedly still alive. As a student of US...

Sean Hannity and Alan Colmes were in the 'Robert Smigel' cartoon on the final 'Saturday Night Live' show of the season Sat. night. In the cartoon they showed Sean and Alan on the set of Hannity & Colmes. It went by so quick that I do not have the exact quote from Sean's character, though I think it was Christian/religion related. They also had a couple of other FoxNews show hosts... I know that John Gibson was one of them. FoxNews was cast in a negative light as you can imagine... as though FoxNews is a cover-up organization for George...

I was just watching Saturday Night Live with musical guest System of a Down, and noticing that they obviously had a "profanity delay" up and running. Unfortunately they missed a very pronounced, shouted "F*** YOU" at the end of their song. Nice work.

NBC depiction of talkradio king Rush Limbaugh passed-out in vomit from drug abuse ignited backstage outrage at SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned. The animated sketch left one senior production source stunned and outraged. "Would we have done this to [Jim] Belushi? [Chris] Farley?" the source said on Sunday from New York. The source asked not to be identified fearing retribution from SNL's executive producer Lorne Michaels. "We've had more fu**ing drug addicts on this show through the years... more tragedy. I have lost count. Did we ever have some laughs about Robert Downey Jr.'s serious drug addiction?"...

HOLLYWOOD has-been Chevy Chase lashed out at President Bush at a liberal love-in Tuesday night, calling the commander-in-chief a "dumb f - - k." Chase was master of ceremonies at People for the American Way's Defender of Democracy awards gala at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. But the organization got more than it bargained for when Chase went off the rails in a potty-mouthed rant, the Washington Post reports. "This guy in office is an uneducated, real schmuck," Chase fumed, "and we still couldn't beat him with a bore like [John] Kerry." He then joked about Cabinet changes,...

Ashlee Simpson Takes 'SNL' Lip Sync BlameBy Barry A. Jeckell NEW YORK (Billboard) - Ashlee Simpson (news) is reportedly taking the heat for deciding to lip-sync during a performance on NBC's "Saturday Night Live" over the weekend, a plan that backfired when the vocals to the wrong song were audible during her second appearance. Simpson had already performed her single "Pieces of You" and had returned to the "SNL" stage to run through the title track of her Geffen debut album, "Autobiography." As the band kicked into the song, her vocals to the first song were heard while Simpson held...

Democrats say comment sexist and homophobic LOS ANGELES - A spokesman for Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said yesterday that the governor would not apologize for calling lawmakers "girlie men," despite criticisms from Democrats that the remark was sexist and homophobic. Schwarzenegger said during a rally Saturday that Democrats were delaying the budget by catering to special interests, and that the lawmakers were "girlie men" if they refused to admit it. He also said Californians should vote out lawmakers who stand in the way of passing the budget. "If they don't have the guts to come up here in front of you...

Did anyone just see the Saturday Night Live cartoon ragging on The Passion of the Christ? They had it as "The Passion of the Dumpty" as in Humpty Dumpty. Showing a fried egg as the last supper and going to heaven and making fun of the imgage of Christ dying on the cross. I have never felt more insulted than I do right now as a Catholic. Plus they had Bush smear commercials in between the skits and painted Mel Gibson to be insane.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Democratic presidential candidate Al Sharpton portrayed lawyer Johnnie Cochran, a sushi salesman and one of the three wise men searching for Jesus during his host stint on "Saturday Night Live." He was also confronted with a track suit-wearing vision of his former self, even singing a few verses of "I Feel Good" during a respectable James Brown imitation. Sharpton, though, was nearly upstaged by reality TV and inadvertent video star Paris Hilton, who appeared in a double-entendre filled "interview" with Jimmy Fallon. The presidential candidate's appearance wasn't seen everywhere. All four NBC affiliates in Iowa refused...
