The latest running debate between Al Gore and Sarah Palin reveals once more the absurdity behind today's Republican Party, which looms increasingly as a far right pressure group rather than a viable political entity. The Republicans indicated the direction where they were heading when Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele dared to speak of right wing talk show host Rush Limbaugh as an "entertainer," which was construed to mean that he was undermining his stature as a serious political analyst. A furious Limbaugh demanded an apology. The blustery talk show host had declared himself to be the titular head of...

Declaring that she “was honored and proud to run with him,” former Alaska governor Sarah Palin pushed back hard Wednesday against a report that she had disrespected Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) by blacking out his name on a sun visor she wore on vacation. The website TMZ accused Palin of “a frontal attack on Sen. John McCain” during a Hawaii vacation this week: “Sarah chose to wear a visor from her campaign -- a visor that was emblazoned with the former presidential candidate's name ... that is, until Palin redacted McCain's name with a black marker.” But Palin said in...

The Tea Party movement is working to put “America back on track” as a majority of elected officials are doing “great damage to this nation,” one organizer of a local group says. The Starkville and Columbus Tea Party groups will gather Saturday in Starkville in a public town hall meeting at the Starkville Sportsplex from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The event is free. In explaining the Tea Party movement, Robert J. Video: Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger bashes Sarah Palin for picking the economy over the environment. "The biggest jog creation is in green technology...people don't believe in fixing the envoronment or in global wrming...they are living in the stone age". He's talking about yesterday's USA poll which says that 7 out of 10 Americans believe that fixing the economy should be a higher priority than fixing the environment. Pesky humans may be able to "fix" the economy (except for California) but "fixing" the environment is an entirely different matter! How does one fix that which God created?

Let's start with the positive news: the left is finally moving beyond a discussion of Gov. Palin's wardrobe and is actually willing to talk about her policy positions. The bad news: they're as crap on policy as they are on trivia. In today's Washington Post, Eugene Robinson writes about Gov. That weekend, Palin and her family were transformed overnight from fleece-wearing rubes to fashion plates, courtesy of a then-unnamed New York wardrobe stylist. The transformation cost the Republican campaign $150,000, a figure that outraged Palin's supporters and detractors alike. Still, most everyone did agree that she looked fabulous. President Obama has lost his 2012 bid for re-election. He has made key decisions in three areas that, unless he alters his approach (not likely), could well guarantee a Republican victory: an embarrassingly rolled-out, badly-compromised health-care reform bill; his continuing slavish subservience to those on Wall Street that took the country into the economic toilet; and his sad imitation of CheneyBush's imperial campaign in Afghanistan. Sarah Palin is such a cold-eyed skeptic about the Copenhagen summit on climate change that it's no surprise she would call on President Obama not to attend. After all, Obama might join other leaders in acknowledging that warming is a "global challenge." He might entertain "opportunities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions." Global Warming: The Alaskan governor who knew polar bears weren't endangered says the planet isn't either and challenges the oracle of climate change. Al Gore says despite the CRU e-mails, the situation is of the utmost gravity. In a Dec. 9 Washington Post op-ed, Sarah Palin noted that the Climate-gate e-mails from the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia "reveal that leading climate 'experts' deliberately destroyed records, manipulated data to 'hide the decline' in global temperatures and tried to silence their critics from publishing in peer-reviewed journals." This did not sit well with Gore. "The entire North...

Former Governor Sarah Palin is once again crisscrossing America, this time to promote her new book "Going Rogue: An American Life." Judging by the huge crowds lining up at the book stores for a chance to meet her, she is fast becoming a political rock star. As the debates on the economy, jobs, health care reform, government spending, terrorist trials, and the Afghan War heat up-and the President's poll numbers head south-her timing couldn't be better. Not everyone, however, is happy to see her take center stage once again. Many liberals and left wing media pundits have been downright apoplectic...

Alaska's fairest Sarah Palin is on a mission. The US vice-presidency was snatched from her manicured grip, which from her perspective is just as well. This is no number two kinda gal. She's no easily-muzzled sidekick. Those who believed she would pale into insignificance following the McCain camp's defeat got it wrong. She's hungry for the top job and, judging by her rising popularity, she just might land it. A December CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll shows that she has a popularity rating of 46 per cent with eight-out-of-10 Republicans viewing her favourably. Incredibly, she is only one point below President...

I don’t travel in liberal circles much, so last night was a real eye-opener as to how much this country is in deep doo-doo. I went to my brother’s house (Marin County, CA) for our family’s annual Dungeness crab feast. It’s no secret in my family that my political position is hard starboard at flank speed, so out of deference to the occasion I made a personal vow not to steer the conversation to current events. Alas, my best intentions were scuttled by my brother’s neighbor lady let slip a snarky comment about Sarah Palin not believing in global warming.

Sarah Palin's success with humor, for me, was/is pivotal. She must transcend the media by engaging them humorously. And she did that in spades. This segment and the book tour and the Facebook page and the Op-Eds have succeeded to do one thing: Bring Sarah Palin back to neutral ground. That's it. At this point, Sarah Palin is neither a positive or negative in the minds of those who care the least and matter the most: the middle-of-the-road American centrist independent who swings elections and decides policy fates. Neutral is a good place to be. President Obama would like to...

Nice to see her viewpoint on the last election cycle and I was impressed at the way she handled differences of opinion within the campaign. She is definitely a class act; I guess that drives our liberal fanatical friends into climbing the walls. The one thing I like about Sarah Palin is the reaction of the “lame stream media” this is more fun to watch the frustration with how ineffective they are at destroying a class act. What often goes through my mind is a classic cartoon series of Road Runner and the coyotey. The coyotey being the “drive-by media”...

Smug and misplaced criticism of Sarah Palin feeds the resentment on which Palin and her followers thrive. Sarah Palin has the floor. Last Wednesday she wrote a comment piece, essentially dismissing the Copenhagen climate conference as a political stunt. On Thursday, she injected herself into another discussion, joining a chorus of public figures from across the political spectrum in their commendation of Obama's Nobel peace prize acceptance speech in Oslo. Her fame and access to the public sphere remain solidly intact, one year after her ticket's heavy defeat in the US presidential election. Much of the recent Palin buzz began...

Sarah Palin's Going Rogue Book Tour has been a tour de force for the Republican Party's 2008 vice presidential nominee. Through the book tour and associated interviews, speeches and cameo appearances, The Arctic Fox has managed to change many perceptions about her, altering the stereotype that liberals and their media allies had generated. The former governor began the process with the Oprah and Barbara Walters interviews. Both shows have audiences composed of mostly women, but not the conservative women who registered favorable opinions of Mrs. Palin in the opinion polls. No, these viewers are mostly Democrats and independents. Sarah Palin's...
