LOS ANGELES (AP) — Protesters rallied in dozens of cities Saturday as part of a global protest against seed giant Monsanto and the genetically modified food it produces, organizers said. Organizers said "March Against Monsanto" protests were held in 52 countries and 436 cities, including Los Angeles where demonstrators waved signs that read "Real Food 4 Real People" and "Label GMOs, It's Our Right to Know."… The U.S. Senate this week overwhelmingly rejected a bill that would allow states to require labeling of genetically modified foods.

In the back pages of the New York Times, law professor Kris Kobach, who helped draft the new Arizona law, dispels the case for harassment in the state’s requirement of immigrants to show proper documents. Remember, this is not groundbreaking as it has been federal law since 1940 that aliens carry registration documents. Kobach outlines the state’s restraint on police authority in requesting such documents.

The Homeland Secretary’s attempt to change the word “terrorism” into “man-caused disasters” shows our enemies that we have less of a desire to get away from promoting the politics of fear to the world, and more that this administration operates within the politics of the frightened when it comes to facing radical Islamic terrorism. When U.S. Army Major Nidal Malik Hasan, you know, the guy whose business cards read “soldier of Allah,” killed American soldiers on American soil, Barack Obama’s first words were that we should not be quick to come to judgment.
  • Airhead News reporter and gun (Video)

This is a video that helps explain the mentality of news reporters. Check out this airhead news reporter doing a report on gun safety. The woman reporter in this video keeps pointing the loaded gun at the cameraman. Even after she fired a round down range at a target she looks at the camera and non nonchalantly shakes the gun with the barrel pointed towards the cameraman. Honestly, you cannot make this stuff up. Then, as if that part of the video is not bad enough, notice how the cameraman never seems to realize that his life is in danger....

Public Citizen sued the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) today on behalf of a highway safety organization to compel the agency to release information about a controversial program to allow Mexico-domiciled trucks on all U.S. highways. The nonprofit group Advocates for Highway and Auto Safety filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request with FMCSA in October 2006 for information about activities surrounding any program to evaluate Mexico-domiciled motor carriers that would be permitted to operate beyond the Mexico-United States border zone. No details about the methodology for evaluating this "project" or its criteria have been revealed, yet public...

Finally the Bush team creates an ad that is worth playing. After a few pretty soft and non-catchy commercials this is the one that needs to be played until the end of the campaign. It is called "Risk", and asks the question if we can risk a liberal in the white house.

Quick Poll Is the world better off now that the U.S. has captured Saddam Hussein, or would it be better had the U.S. never invaded Iraq? The world is actually in worse condition, and Saddam should still be in power because the U.S. acted rashly. Better off now that the U.S. is upholding U.N. resolutions and holding Saddam accountable for his actions. The condition of the world is the same now as it was before the war in Iraq. Needs a FReeping
