Broward County schools' progressive policy on transgendered children will be tested by the admission to kindergarten this fall of a boy who believes that he's a girl. BY ROBERTO SANTIAGO rsantiago@MiamiHerald.com One little girl entering Broward County kindergarten this fall is actually a boy. Few will know this genetic truth, because the 5-year-old's parents and school administrators have agreed that it's in his best interest to blend in as a female. Mental health professionals have diagnosed Pat -- not his real name -- with gender dysphoria, a condition in which a person believes that he or she is the opposite...

I am curious why none of the media covers the most important aspect of the Malvo shootings. If you look at Newspapers on the dates when the shootings are underway you discover something I find quite interesting. The shootings begin to dominate the news the day before the debate on the Iraq war starts and they catch them the day after the declaration of war??? If you ask most people "do you remember the debate about starting the second Iraq war", they will all answer "yes of course". But if you followup with the question "name one point in the...

I recently received a reply to a post that stated: "This should be beneath a "freeper". Sad." So I asked.. what is it that makes a FReeper? My reply (and I will admit was tasteless) was also questioning. It stirred controversy and was removed? Why Moderators? Can you not tell me? Did it not meet with your "FReeper" mentality? According to all posted guidelines it should be listed but no, you chose to delete it. Yes.. I'm the first one IBTZ, I'm sure you'll nick me for speaking up..

PORT McNEILL - A 17-year-old caught drinking with his father received 10 hours of community work and a six-month conditional discharge, May 9 in provincial court. The father and son were found drinking together Apr. 9 at the Dalewood Inn, but that was just the beginning of his case, Crown counsel Leslie Fillingham told court. The youth was first arrested for causing a disturbance after he fingered a police officer earlier in the year, and released on the condition that he not drink, said Crown counsel Leslie Fillingham. That charge was eventually dropped, but not before the youth twice breached...

An 18-year-old Singaporean student committed suicide last month because he was convinced his penis was too small, a report said on Wednesday. State Coroner Tan Boon Heng said the case highlighted the importance of sex education in schools and recommended the details be forwarded to the education ministry, the Straits Times reported. The teenager, who was not named, jumped from a building on March 3. A suicide note explained why, an investigation to determine the cause of death said. "He said it was not due to the stress of his examination, but it was more about his physical development... He...

Blacks much more likely than whites to approve of job done by local leaders: PRINCETON, NJ -- A majority of current New Orleans residents say they approve of the job mayor Ray Nagin did in responding to the effects of Hurricane Katrina, according to a new CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll. Residents also have a positive view of how the city's police handled the situation, but are much more critical of Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco, President George W. Bush, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Most residents are not offended by Nagin's recent statement that New Orleans should be rebuilt as...

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The traditional Winchester rifles carried by pioneers, movie stars and Wild West lawmen will be discontinued in March, a Belgian manufacturer said Wednesday, confirming the end of an American icon that became known as "The Gun that Won the West." Once the U.S. Repeating Arms plant closes March 31, the only new rifles carrying the famous Winchester name will be the modern, high-end models produced in Belgium, Japan and Portugal. The older models, including the famous Winchester Model 94, will be scrapped. "The name will continue, but not with those traditional products," said Robert Sauvage, a...

Fellow Americans, there comes a time every mans life when we must give up ourselves before we are worthy to recieve. There comes a time in this war on terror when in order to protect liberty, we have to give it up in the mean time for safty. That's right folks. Today, Americans have forsaken the creator for the creation and have decided that they would value our "civil liberties" than protecting western civilization and rich white people from the tender mercies of radical Islamic terrorists. Selfish liberals insist and whine that Bush has no right to spy on Americans...

As the days grow shorter and cold, and darkness settles in, some begin to feel a little blue -- hamsters and people alike. Up to 20 percent of Americans report they feel more depressed during the winter months as a result of a condition known as seasonal affective disorder. Now scientists have shown that hamsters experience the same sluggishness when their exposure to light is reduced. By studying these sad hamsters, the researchers hope to find new ways of helping people combat seasonal depression. "Hamsters aren't perfect models, but the mechanisms may be similar -- as in what's going on...

Sorry, that was your last shot. Come November, we're going to start seeing more Democratic faces in the House. It's the end for you guys. You guys are celebrating when Bush's numbers go *up* to 45%. Bush’s giant Right Wing Noise Machine (RWNM) loves to preach about the Bush economic miracle. In fact, the RWNM’s current thinking is Bush doesn’t spend enough time talking about his economic triumphs. If only he did, then everyone would fall in line and believe in the great Bush economic miracle. There is one problem with this argument: it’s a lie. Any way you look at the Bush economy, it comes up short. Today, I want to compare Bush’s job creation record with other economic recoveries. As usual, Bush comes up way short. The national Bureau of Economic Research has identified...

After reading all of the crap that people have been saying regarding Adult Private Social Clubs, I felt that I had to post an article and give my opinion. I am sick and tired of all the religous groups that are saying that there are drugs, prostitution, minors, non-consenting people, and just immoral people at these clubs! First of all, who do these people think they are to decide what is morally right or wrong for me? I believe that I have a good set of morals. I am a law abiding, tax paying citizen, I work full time and...

A boy of 10 was blinded in one eye as he watched the recent partial eclipse of the sun from his school playground. The parents of Conor Howard expressed their concern yesterday about playground supervision after learning that the damage is permanent. Conor, who wanted to be a pilot when he left school, is having specialist treatment. He had perfect 20/20 vision but now has severely restricted sight. Conor was at morning break in the playground of St Nicholas School in Cranleigh, Surrey, last month when a friend shouted for him to look at the eclipse. Closing one eye, he...

Concluding Question: The Meta-Group and the United States Government It seems clear that the meta-group, with its influential connections on at least three continents, was powerful enough to effect changes, through the Russian 9/11, in Russian history. The question arises whether they could similarly effect changes in American history as well. As we have seen Russian sources claim that the U.S. Government has had access to he meta-group, for such especially sensitive projects as the assassination of Abu al Walid al-Hamadi. They claim the meta-group's involvement in a number of U.S.-sponsored regime changes in eastern Europe, from the overthrow of...

BATON ROUGE, La. — In the chaos that was Causeway Boulevard, this group of refugees stood out: a 6-year-old boy walking down the road, holding a 5-month-old, surrounded by five toddlers who followed him around as if he were their leader. They were holding hands. Three of the children were about 2 years old, and one was wearing only diapers. A 3-year-old girl, who wore colorful barrettes on the ends of her braids, had her 14-month-old brother in tow. The 6-year-old spoke for all of them, and he told rescuers his name was Deamonte Love. Thousands of human stories have...

[...] With crystal-blue eyes, wavy hair, and freshly scrubbed faces, the boys look as though they stepped out of a Pottery Barn Kids catalog. They are 7-year-old twins. I'll call them Thomas and Patrick; their parents agreed to let me meet the boys as long as I didn't use their real names. Spend five seconds with them, and there can be no doubt that they are identical twins - so identical even they can't tell each other apart in photographs. Spend five minutes with them, and their profound differences begin to emerge. Patrick is social, thoughtful, attentive. He repeatedly addresses...

JOURDANTON, Texas -- Some city officials in Jourdanton, Texas, are outraged that a public works supervisor ordered employees to drown six stray dogs at the city sewer plant, rather than having the animals properly euthanized. For punishment, the supervisor was ordered to attend classes with animal control officers. City councilman Darrell Richter said the workers took the dogs from the pound to the sewer plant and dropped their cages into the water. A child saw the drownings and told his mother, who complained. Richter told the San Antonio Express-News that he's disgusted by the incident and upset with the supervisor...

Ann Coulter says Katie Couric is “the affable Ava Braun” of daytime TV. But Couric’s got nothing on Oprah Winfrey. Oprah is the affable Joseph Goebbels of daytime talk . . . of chick magazines . . . of Oprah seminars—and every other medium in which the self-anointed high priestess of the religion of Oprah has her hands. Through all of these, Oprah preaches “how to be your best self” and “live your best life.” Unfortunately, a predilection for radical Islam and excusing terrorists is a prominent element of Oprah’s “best self.” Cheating husbands don’t get off as easy as...

Let's face i, governments and unions are agents of THEFT and to a large degree, they are the bagmen of the middle class. They distort the markets for labor and trade so that some people are able to TAKE more resources out of the pockets of the owning class than they are entitled to. It makes me sick. Most of the people in the “middle class” in America have no business having what they have. If the just, God-given market forces were left alone, those thieves would be living in the shacks their productivity entitles them to and the wealthy...

Gilbert, Minn. (AP) Whorehouse Days took another hit at the Gilbert City Council meeting last night. The council voted against renting city buildings for the event -- a celebratory look back at a time during Prohibition when the town was known for its bars, gambling and prostitutes. Mayor Bob Garrity Jr. said a group's request to use the community center and arena for the July festivities was too vague. The council requested representation from the group planning the event at the meeting. But no one showed up.

Many argue that communism will never be possible because of "human nature". The essence of this false argument is the belief that a communist society would consist of an all-powerful central government that would tell everybody what to do--and would therefore undermine the creative initiative of individuals and the search for happiness. • This argument is based on two false assumptions: (1) It assumes that a communist society will look like the former Soviet Union, or the current China, North Korea, etc (ie: corrupt police states with a feudal-style ruling class) (2) It assumes that people will only work in...

Why want he? Do you know? Is there sombody we can call? Plaese advice.

I'm sad to say that much of the anti-American feeling that is around at the moment is down to the fact that Americans can't seem to see any faults in their system and/or military. We in Europe remember how America has been involved in destabalising and usurping a democratically elected government - Chile on Sept 11 1972 - used Agent Orange in Viet Nam, demonised left wing people in the entertainment industry during McCarthyism, supporting death squad governments in Central/South America, just to mention a few things, and, most recently, your FBI came here and managed to get the servers...

Even after Pennsylvania's other senator, Catholic and self-described pro-life senator Rick Santorum, endorsed pro-abortion Arlen Specter in the primary instead of a pro-life challenger -- which Santorum said he did because only Specter could win the actual election, thus ensuring a GOP majority in the Senate and more pro-life judges ... Tragedy strikes a Kanawha County family this morning. A young girl was struck and killed by a train just after midnight Friday morning in Marmet. Marmet Police Chief Paris Workman says 6 year-old Cierra Saunders had wanted to give her dad a kiss and hug before she went to bed. As a result, Cierra and her mother, Joyce, went out looking for him. Workman says Cierra was clinging to her mother's jacket as the two were crossing the railroad tracks. He says Joyce initially didn't hear the train but once she did, she urged Cierra to hurry up. Workman says...

General elections in February saw Iran's conservatives regain control of the parliament and as a result, the country faces another period of change and uncertainty. So does the BBC's Tehran correspondent, Jim Muir, as he prepares to leave his post... but not his memories. When I actually moved to Tehran towards the end of 1999 I had not got much beyond the stereotyped images of grim mullahs and fanatical Hezbollahs screaming: "Death to America". I did not really know what to expect and what I would be able to do. But I was always mentally prepared for two contingencies. I...

District Judge Sim Lake ruled today that a Bible displayed in a monument outside the Harris County Civil Courts Building must be removed within 10 days and that the county must pay $41,000 in court costs and attorney fees. Bob Dole's attempt to ascend to the Presidency in 1996 was a far from stellar endeavor. His fall from the railing on the campaign trail epitomized the enterprise (in all fairness, the railing gave way; Dole is not a clumsy man). But even in the most miserable of circumstances, a moment of clarity can spring forth like a bolt in the blue. And so it was when candidate Dole uttered, "We have lost shame as a motivating factor in our society". His cognizance received little attention at the time (for it was directed at Bill Clinton, and the national media...

PENNSYLVANIA -- In the final stretch of the statewide primary battle, incumbent Arlen Specter abandoned any rational argument for his own reelection. Instead, he released a barrage of television ads describing the race as "Pat Toomey vs. George W. Bush." Specter spent almost no time on recounting the accomplishments of his 24 years in the Senate, preferring instead to replay Bush's five-minute "Arlen Specter is the right man for the job" endorsement. At one of his last campaign stops Monday, Specter told a small crowd that it was "very important to focus on what President Bush wants." Well -- important...

GATLINBURG, Tenn. A new report by the National Parks Conservation Association on the future of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park paints a dire picture. "This park is beginning to die," said Tom Kiernan, the conservation group's president. "This assessment clearly shows the park is in danger, and its long-term viability is at risk." High ozone levels, acid rain, continued underfunding and a proposed road on the north shore of Fontana Lake in North Carolina are combining to endanger the park's future, Kiernan said. Much of the damage could be slowed or prevented if certain steps are taken, he said,...
