What follows is a listing of the Senators who voted AGAINST the S. 2611 amnesty bill. I have expanded the list to include each Senator's comments specific to the legislation, where available, and listed the link to their e-mail address or contact form. I have now sent a message of "Thank You" and support to each one. I hope many of you will want to do the same in greater of lesser degree, perhaps contacting only your own Senator and a few others, hopefully all. I tried to make it *easy* for you. WHY DO SO? Many of these Senators...

We may have lost this battle, but we are going to win the war! Last night, 23 Republican Senators voted in favor of a bill (S. 2611 - the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act of 2006) that will give amnesty to millions of illegal aliens; but the battle is far from over and the movement to secure our borders first has gained a great deal of momentum. Two weeks ago, Senate leaders boasted that they had over 70 votes in favor of S. 2611. They fell well short of that number and the credit goes to all of you. Your Blast...

Attacks on free speech are not the exclusive province of the ACLU. Using some provisions of the absurd McCain-Feingold Campaign Finance Bill (which increased rather than decreased the money devoted to political campaigns), efforts are underway that might well put an end to Rush Limbaugh’s radio program and to weblogs, including mine, that discuss political issues. These attacks on free speech are not limited to stifling conservative viewpoints; Al Franken’s radio show and the DailyKos website (left-wing advocates) face the same dangers. Already, this year, we have had to fight off an attempt by Senator Harken to interfere with the...

One of the mysteries these days is the about-face of a supposed Democrat war hawk, Representative John Murtha of Pennsylvania. Considered a supporter of the Iraq conflict, the decorated former Marine suddenly came out with statements calling for the withdrawal of US troops from Iraq and that the war is not winnable. After the liberal media feasted on his sudden burst on the national scene, Murtha became the new lightning rod for the antiwar, anti-American movement. Recently, he said that the US military was worn out and unable to protect Americans should a security crisis emerge. And the media again...

National Security: Contrary to popular opinion, Rep. John Murtha, the decorated ex-Marine who called for an immediate withdrawal from Iraq, is no hawk. He may also soon be probed for misusing defense appropriations. "If you want anything done on the committee, you go to Murtha." He's delivered so much pork to his congressional district, an airport and a major highway are named after Murtha. Ashdown and his nonpartisan watchdog group criticized Murtha for using the $417 billion fiscal 2005 Pentagon spending bill to give business to his lobbyist brother. The Los Angeles Times in June reported that Murtha funneled nearly...

Glug, Glug, Glug . . . Well, as usual, we guessed wrong. Two weeks ago we confidently predicted that Sen. Hillary Clinton would vote with the majority of the Democrats on the confirmation of Chief Justice John Roberts. The red-blue divide was clear. Democrats from states where George W. Bush beat John Kerry* favored Roberts 13-3, while Kerry-carry-staters opposed him 19-10. As for Mrs. Clinton, her vote shows her to be an extremist, to the left even of the Democratic Party. As New York's other senator might say, she has drifted far outside the mainstream and is headed for an...

As Sen. John McCain gears up for a prospective presidential run in 2008, he's trying to put an ugly little incident behind him — one that makes him look like a flat-out hypocrite on his signature issue, campaign-finance reform. If members of the national media are anything more than lapdogs for the war-hero, "maverick" senator, they'll start asking some tough questions about a bogus little think tank in Alexandria, Va., called the Reform Institute. According to the inside-the-beltway paper Roll Call, McCain has stepped down as chairman of the Reform Institute, citing "negative publicity" from earlier this year when it...

Frustrated with the White House and a key Republican, supporters of Rep. Katherine Harris' (R-Fla.) 2006 Senate campaign lashed out at the administration yesterday for seeking to convince another prominent GOP official to enter the race. "It's unimaginable that the White House folks and the National Republican Senatorial Committee would be so disloyal to Katherine Harris, especially after all she has done for the Bush family and the Republican Party," a Florida political operative who supports Harris said. "It's unconscionable and a stab in the back." Harris backers are irritated that State House Speaker Allan Bense met with White House...

I have watched with great interest and sometimes shock the ever developing closeness between some of the most radical, liberal groups in the country and the Democratic Party Leadership. The Capitol Hill news publication "Roll Call" recently described the intimate collaborations that have occurred between the extreme liberal group "MoveOn.org" and the offices of House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, and The Democratic National Party Chairman Howard Dean. The article described the frequent strategy sessions and conference calls between the Democratic Leadership offices and MoveOn.org. This is the same George Soros funded group that once opposed...

The Peter Principles: Sanity clause By Peter Roff UPI Senior Political Analyst Published May 9, 2005 WASHINGTON -- Within the next two weeks, say those in the know on Capitol Hill, Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., is going to pull the trigger on the so-called constitutional option and break the logjam over judicial nominations. Unless something happens. Frist and Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., who refuses to yield on the filibuster as a matter of party policy, are staring across the abyss at each other with no way to move ahead without falling in. Today was a busy day. SB206 (proof of citizenship for welfare) by Jim Holt was before the State Agency and Government Affairs Committee at the Arkansas State Capitol. The benefits of expanded GOP control in both chambers of Congress were evident this week with the passage of a major tort-reform measure. Yesterday, President Bush signed that measure into law. As a result, lawyers seeking to cash in on class-action suits will find it harder to "shop" for favorable local judges. Instead, they'll have to take those cases to federal courts, in a much more fair process. Bear in mind that this bill lost by a single vote in the Senate last time. This time, it passed 72-26. Their party's losses in the last election plainly inspired several Democrats...
