<p>Donald Trump’s campaign and top Republican Party officials plan what one person called a “come to Jesus” meeting on Friday in Orlando to discuss the Republican nominee’s struggling campaign, according to multiple sources familiar with the scheduled sit-down.</p>
<p>Though a campaign source dismissed it as a "typical" gathering, others described it as a more serious meeting, with one calling it an "emergency meeting." It comes at a time of mounting tension between the campaign and the Republican National Committee, which is facing pressure to pull the plug on Trump’s campaign and redirect party funds down ballot to protect congressional majorities endangered by Trump’s candidacy.</p>

The Republican National Committee has seen a spate of departures in recent months related to its embrace of Donald Trump, whom some former staffers felt uncomfortable supporting. In recent months, deputy press secretary James Hewitt, spokesman Fred Brown, director of Hispanic media Ruth Guerra, and research analysts Lars Trautman and Colin Spence have all left the RNC with Trump as one of the reasons for their resignations, according to sources familiar with their decisions. At least three other staff members have also left the RNC with opposition to Trump as a contributing factor, according to multiple sources. In total, at...

A 47-Year-Registered Republican Is Throwing In The Towel: Here's Why by Tyler Durden Aug 4, 2016 8:50 PM 0 SHARES Via The Burning Platform,RE: 2016 Congressional District CensusDear Mr. Priebus:I recently received from you a plea – your second notice – that I complete and return the survey of my views on current issues in the United States. My views would help the party develop a campaign strategy for the important weeks ahead.I recently dropped my registration in the Republican Party, so my opinions are irrelevant to your survey. I do, however, hope that the views expressed in this note...

Panic mode Whether you love him or hate him, you can’t deny that Trump has had a terrible 24 hours. There’s just no way to argue otherwise. Throughout his campaign, unforced errors and foot-in-mouth syndrome have been his twin demons, and they’ve been on full display over the last couple of days. Unnecessary entanglements and poor (or nonexistent) damage control have injured him in the polls, sent his donors scrambling, and have the Republican Party weighing its options. As ABC News reports, Reince Priebus has been on the horn, and he’s not pleased.

Two weeks ago at the Republican National Convention (RNC) a grieving mother blasted Hillary Clinton for the debacle of the 2012 Benghazi attack. Last Thursday, at the Democratic National Convention (DNC), grieving parents gave a speech criticizing Donald Trump for his statements against Muslims. While all the grieving parents deserve sympathy, the Big Three (ABC, CBS, NBC) network evening and morning shows seemed to only care about the parents that showed up at the Democratic Convention. Khizr Khan and his wife Ghazla’s DNC appearance earned 55 minutes, 13 seconds of Big Three network coverage, nearly 50 times more than Pat...

Who won the convention ratings race, Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton? Trump, by a margin of two million viewers, according to Nielsen, the TV ratings firm.

Less than 30 million watched Queen Hillary! last night, compared to 32.2 million for Trump. http://www.nielsen.com/us/en/insights/news/2016/fourth-night-of-2016-republican-national-convention-draws.html http://www.nielsen.com/us/en/insights/news/2016/fourth-night-of-2016-democratic-national-convention-draws-viewers.html

I don’t think I need to say too much here. They videos speak for themselves pretty nicely. But I’ll make these two observations: The RNC prayer makes multiple mentions of Jesus and acknowledges His lordship, while not mentioning any political candidate a single time. DNC mentions: Hillary 1, Jesus 0. I am quite aware that different churches have different styles of worship, but even urban Pentecostal churches don’t whoop and holler during prayer. Every other time, you bet, but not during prayer.

I was wondering if the DNC always has their convention after the RNC. It seems to me that they should alternate, maybe they do, but I dont recall. If they do always have it after the RNC, that seems unfair, people always remember the last convention more than the first, plus then the speakers at the DNC can respond to what the RNC speakers said. Everyone wants the last word, why should they get it all the time.

Alexander Bolton writes in The Hill about the worry among Democrats over GOP nominee Donald Trump’s impressive post-convention poll bounce. Democrats are alarmed over a cluster of new polls showing Donald Trump enjoying a healthy bounce in support after the Cleveland convention.

Donald Trump received no significant bounce following the Republican National Convention, according to the latest NBC News|SurveyMonkey Weekly Election Tracking Poll. Hillary Clinton still leads Trump by a single point: 46 percent to 45 percent. These numbers are unchanged from last week. The Trump-Mike Pence ticket saw a modest boost in favorability among Republicans. Independents — the true persuadable voters — were less than enthusiastic about what they saw or heard about the GOP convention, according to the weekly tracking poll, conducted online from July 18 through July 24 among 12,931 adults who say they are registered to vote

After watching Republicans invoke Hillary Clinton’s name almost 300 times in just four days last week at their convention, Democrats returned the favor on day one of the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia. The terms “Donald,” “Trump” or “Donald Trump” appeared in an ABC News transcript of the DNC 138 times unique times on Monday, including references to the Republican nominee as well as buildings, the university named for Trump and even the businessman’s line of steaks. Among notable speakers during the evening session of the convention, Trump was extremely popular. Major speakers such as New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker...

...Donald Trump came, saw and conquered. His children went four for four in terrific speeches with Ivanka almost stealing the night from her father. But it was the original Trump who milked his long Thursday night speech — purposeful and a ratings bonanza — to lay out his message in disciplined, audience-by-audience focused fashion... Five stars for all the Trumps...

Ed mentioned this in passing in the last post but it deserves extra attention. How often do you see a guy’s favorable rating within his own party cut nearly in half in the span of two weeks? Cruz’s move, however, appears to have backfired. While 60% of Republican voters had a positive impression of the former presidential candidate before the convention, just 33% have one now.

Complete Headline: Clinton calls out GOP for 'unfounded, inaccurate, mean-spirited attacks' at the RNC and says chants of 'Lock her up!' made her feel sad - in first televised interview with running mate Sen. Tim Kaine Clinton said the RNC convention only seemed to be about criticizing her Said there was no 'positive agenda' in the 'dark, divisive campaign' She also spoke of the 'Hillary Standard' and said she believed there was a concerted effort to ruin her reputation Clinton also said she refused to stoop to Trump's level and call him a nickname, but will discuss his 'inflammatory' comments...

Just over a week ago, as the Rules Committee was meeting prior to the Republican National Convention, the last chance for the GOPe to stop Trump came and went. The goal of the NeverTrumpers was to get Trump off the ticket, and by any means. What happened next, with Trump gone, was of no concern to them, for they feared Trump more than they feared Hillary or any other Democrat. And that is nothing new - to them the Democrats are like opponents in football, they mean well, they're just on the other side (perhaps misguided a bit politically). They...

Diamond and Silk were interviewed behind the scenes at the Republican National Convention by Breitbart reporter Aaron Klein. When asked by Klein why they are supporting Trump instead of Hillary, who claims to be the candidate for women, they said, "We won't vote for a crook. We won't let a crook off the hook!" With their characteristically memorable style of commentary, the video stars also discussed Black Lives Matter, as well as their reasons for their wholehearted support of Donald Trump for President.
