Fifty years ago this weekend, a deadly urban riot began in Detroit. It started around 3:30 a.m., when police arrested 85 patrons of a blind pig -- an illegal after-hours bar -- in the midst of an all-black neighborhood that had been all-white 15 or 20 years before. The statistics are horrifying. Rioting went on for six nights, with some 2,500 stores looted and burnt, some 400 families displaced and property damage was estimated around $300 million in 2017 dollars. Forty-three people, many of them innocent bystanders, were killed. More than 1,000 people were wounded. The reality was even more...

The European migration experiment is failing miserably. Self-declared “refugees” and migrants from Africa and the Middle East are importing their violence, chaos and regressive norms of behavior into formerly harmonious countries all over Western Europe. As Seth J. Frantzman wrote in the Jerusalem Post last December, “They hate the very society they have often chosen to migrate to. Their new society tolerated their intolerance and taught them that this new country provided such unfettered freedom that it should be destroyed.” For example, while many French people were busy celebrating Bastille Day – a year after the tragic Islamist massacre in Nice - riots and...

Dozens of Arabs rioted tonight (Monday), throwing stones and blocking the Maale Mota Gur road in Jerusalem. Police forces are on the scene and the rioters are being driven out using riot control measures. At the same time, dozens of Arabs gathered near the Lions' Gate and attacked policemen. The Arab riots are part of the Arab protest against the metal detectors at the entrances to the Temple Mount following the murderous attack on Friday. During the day, hundreds of Muslim worshipers came to the Al-Aqsa mosque but did not enter and prayed outside the Temple Mount to protest the...
  • After riots, Merkel takes flak for decision to hold G20 in Hamburg

Raging street battles that marred Germany’s G20 summit have sparked a political fight over how Hamburg could descend into “mob rule” and why Chancellor Angela Merkel chose a hotbed of leftist militancy as the venue. Germany’s top-selling Bild daily was withering in its condemnation of the chaos that saw far-left and anarchist radicals torch rows of cars, loot shops and hurl rocks and bottles from burning barricades at riot police. “One should use with caution the words ‘failure of the state’. Sadly, it applies in Hamburg,” the newspaper thundered Saturday, slamming the summit as a “debacle”. “Of course, the police...

Below is a commentary piece on today’s G-20 satellite events in Hamburg, from Cicero.de. Many thanks to Egri Nök for the translation: Grit your teeth and carry on! by Alexander Marguier July 7, 2017 Riots of the left extremist scene overshadow the G20 summit. The police in Hamburg asked for reinforcements from other countries. But it is the state that has let it go this far. [Photo caption: Masked persons, police, burning trash cans — a street scene like from a war zone / picture alliance] Did anyone in all seriousness believe that the G20 summit in Hamburg would pass...

At least 196 police officers have been injured in protests in the streets of Hamburg, Germany, where the G-20 summit is taking place. The demonstrations, which began Thursday ahead of the summit, continued Friday as thousands of officers clad in riot gear sought to prevent the mostly anti-capitalist protesters from disrupting the summit. One officer suffered a fractured limb, police said. Large fires burned in the streets of Hamburg after a second day of violent demonstrations. Protesters looted nearby buildings as well. While some groups of protesters staged peaceful demonstrations, others torched vehicles and hurled objects at officers. Police used...

German police used water cannon to disperse around 500 anti-capitalist protesters overnight in the port city of Hamburg where Chancellor Angela Merkel will host leaders of the G20 leading economies in a two-day summit starting on Friday. Tens of thousands of protesters are expected to march in the city this week against globalization and what they say is corporate greed and a failure to tackle climate change. German authorities believe around 8,000 demonstrators were prepared to use violence, the interior minister said on Tuesday. Some 20,000 police officers will be deployed. Hundreds of mainly young left-wing activists gathered and marched...

Far left Antifa activists are planning to protest at Gettysburg National Battlefield on the anniversary of the historic battle and burn confederate flags on the historic day. The violent far left group has been vandalizing Confederate monuments across the country this year.Harrisburg100 reported: Over the past few weeks, several US cities have been a hotbed of controversy over the removal of several Confederate monuments. After decades standing sentinel over New Orleans, the last of four Confederate monuments have been removed after being labeled as “Monuments of Racism and Hate”. New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu said of the removal of his...

A group of Baltimore businesses that sustained damage during the 2015 riots following the death of Freddie Gray is suing the city, alleging officials failed to suppress the riots. The nearly 700-page complaint was filed in Baltimore City Circuit Court in March but only recently removed to U.S. District Court at the request of the defendants.

"""Antifa Website Encourages ‘All Manner of Physical Violence’ Against Trump Supporters and Capitalists""" The Antifa website It’s Going Down has become the de facto resource for anarchists and “anti-fascist” activists currently engaging in sporadic street battles across the United States against Trump supporters and the government. The site calls for violence against capitalists and anyone it labels a “fascist.” It features posters for self-identified anarchists that call for Trump supporters to be stabbed. A poster published in April shows the silhouette of a man with a Make America Great Again hat and a Pepe the Frog lapel pin being cornered...
  • Baltimore prosecutor says she’s immune from officers’ suit

Baltimore’s top prosecutor is urging a federal appeals court to find that she is immune from a civil lawsuit filed by five police officers charged in the death of Freddie Gray. The officers are suing Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby for malicious prosecution, defamation and invasion of privacy. Other claims, including false imprisonment, were dismissed. Mosby said in a brief filed this week in the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals that a lower court should have found her to be immune from being sued because she’s a prosecutor.

Police in Seattle and St. Paul, Minnesota, made arrests after fighting broke out during a series of marches across the U.S. on Saturday against Sharia, a strict form of Islamic law, that were confronted by counter-protests. Police in Seattle used pepper spray and made several arrests for assault after a brief scuffle near the city's Occidental Square, according to ABC affiliate KOMO-TV.

A UC Berkeley student who says she was violently attacked by protesters on campus the night of a planned speech by Milo Yiannopoulos in February is now suing the university — along with a host of others including House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi — for withholding police protection and allowing attacks like the one she suffered. As TMZ reports, the woman says she was "painfully pepper-sprayed" by "masked and unmasked assailants" within 15 minutes of her arriving at the Feb. 1 event, which was quickly canceled by the university as protests erupted that were both peaceful and anarchic — ultimately...

Over the weekend we covered the demonstration at Parliament Hill in Ottawa, where opponents of the M-103 anti-blasphemy motion gathered to protest the encroachment of sharia in Canada and declare their support for free speech. Predictably, the “anti-fascists” came out in even greater numbers to confront the peaceful protestors, and there were at least two significant incidents of violence. One of them, as I mentioned earlier today, was an attack on the journalist Kevin J. Johnston, who nearly lost the top of his ear to an antifa knife. His cameraman was beaten and seriously injured. As I mentioned in one...

When Olivia Alsip travelled to the capital to protest against the inauguration of right-wing US President Donald Trump, she didn't imagine she would end the day behind bars and later face up to 80 years in prison. Thousands of people journeyed from across the US to Washington, DC, to protest on the first day of Trump's presidency, January 20. During the swearing-in, Alsip was among the more than 230 protesters arrested when officers from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) blocked off a large area and hauled off nearly everyone. "I am wondering if my 24th birthday next week will be...

Portland, Oregon (CNN) — At least 14 people were arrested on Sunday amid competing protests in Portland, Oregon, over a tangled web of emotions to arise from a deadly commuter train stabbing in May. Hundreds of supporters of US President Donald Trump converged on Terry D. Schrunk Plaza for an event billed as a "Trump Free Speech" rally. They were slightly outnumbered by a mixed assemblage of counterprotesters across the street who viewed the free speech rally as an implicit endorsement of racism given its close timing to the racially charged stabbing. The groups were separated by a wall of...

Portland Antifa leftists hurled bottles and bricks at Portland police today at their counter protest against free speech. Police confiscated DYNAMITE, brass knuckles, knives and sticks from the Antifa protesters. The dueling protests in Portland kicked off to an exciting start. Police rushed into the anarchist crowd to start confiscating possible weapons and making arrests. There were reports that the protesters were tossing used tampons and bags of crap at the officers. In one park the Trump supporters gathered for their free speech rally. In the other park and along the sidewalks were the counter protesters, made up of various...

We talked to nine Portland activists who think violence is necessary to fight fascism. The nine anarchists who met me one rainy afternoon in Portland, Oregon, told me they almost showed up to talk to me "bloc'd out"—in the black clothes and masks that have become something of an iconic look. You likely know what "bloc'd out" means because you've seen photos and videos of masked anarchists, or encountered them in person at practically any left-wing protests (or at counter-protests held in response to right-wing rallies). Bandanas, scarves, or helmets are used to guard against the effects of pepper spray...
