    Here’s something I really mean:

    Palin ‘12.

If calling upon Divine Providence for guidence, strength
and wisdom was good enough for George Washington, it’s
    good enough for me.

America and it’s ideals ARE part of God’s plan for man.

I appealed to Divine Providence in Vietnam when
death rained down on all sides from above,
    and I was spared.

I appealed to Divine Providence when I had cancer,
    and was spared.

I figure there is a reason and a use for me and
I am not above asking for help and guidence.

Our nation need not feel ashamed for the faith of
our founders, it has been the foundation of all
that is good in our selves.

The only thing my post acknowledges is the Lordship of Jesus, the Redeemer. I don't expect you to understand that, and I do expect you to resist. The Spirit of God is that little voice inside you questioning and pricking your conscience.

You better get to shul or the rabbi will chastise you.

I've got to roast some pig today, and make chopped BBQ. Mmmmmmm good... Oops, sorry. You can't eat pork, can you? Jesus said something about that, too...

    Mark 7:14-16 (New International Version)

14 Again Jesus called the crowd to him and said, "Listen to me, everyone, and understand this. 15 Nothing outside a man can make him 'unclean' by going into him. Rather, it is what comes out of a man that makes him 'unclean.'

No Gods, No Masters. We are Free Men.

We do not need anyone promoting a God that we must prostrate ourselves to, kneel and obey without question. Least of all, we do not need the Government promoting such.

It's too early on a Saturday morning to fight this battle. I believe in the same God the Founders worshipped. It is my understanding that they were followers of Christ, apart of the Triune God. It is not an easy concept for a Jew. As to your understanding of God in our Foundations...

... John Hancock's Congress capitalized on this ground swell of Paine Patriotism by invocating the aid of God in this moral cause for independence. This time the name of Jesus Christ was actual ly included in the official congressional resolution passed on March 16th, 1776. This proclamation signed by President Hancock set May 17, 1776:
"Day of Humiliation, Fasting and Prayer" throughout the colonies. The Continental Congress urged its fellow citizens to "confess and bewail our manifold sins and transgressions, and by a sincere repentance and amendment of life, appease his [God's] righteous displeasure, and through the merits and mediation of Jesus Christ, obtain his pardon and forgiveness."

The Colony of Massachusetts followed suit almost immediately ordering a "suitable number" of these proclamations to be printed so "that each of the religious Assemblies in this Colony, may be furnished with a Copy of the same" and added the motto "God Save This People" as a substitute for "God Save the King." ...-JohnHancock.org

But even the most conservative politicians are deathly afraid to use the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

I doubt the founders would have had any such fear, yet they didn't use it either.

She's probably referring to the same God that the founder's referred to. I always found it interesting that our money reads In God We Trust, not In Jesus We Trust. God, Creator, Almighty or Supreme Being are used in state constitutions, but NOT Jesus.

Politicians are quite comfortable refering to god in a generic sense, some even go to the AA's "higher power" if they are liberal enough. But even the most conservative politicians are deathly afraid to use the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

    Mark 14:35-37 (King James Version)

35And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him.

36And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.

37And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest not thou watch one hour?

YHWH and Yehoshua are two DIFFERENT entities. There are two opposing wills in the above verses.

As for me and my house, I will trust in the Lord's mercy. If is a mighty big word. Jesus fulfilled the Law and set us free from it's penalties, with simple faith in His Work. In the end, all knees shall bow. No Jew, nor any other, will gain redemption without faith in Jesus. Grace is a free gift but requires faith for propulsion.

You both made the points I thought I was making or at least suggesting: the “tradition” Obama comes out of, a nominally “secular” one, prescribes a certain kind of humility and contrition, but FOR US ONLY, as regards the rest of the world, and what Obama sees are its justified claims against us. We have to bow down to the rest of the world, humbled and contrite, just as he did to the Saudi Prince in that notorious photo.
I was pointing out the crushing irony, I thought, in how similar the rhetoric was, and yet how totally opposite its
meanings were coming from two different people with different views of the World and the American People.
    Hope I cleared it up.

Sacrifice is the only way to defeat the Law, according to Scripture. Have you burned any goats lately?

    ooops, you're wrong again.

    2Ch 7:14
    (14) if My people, upon whom My name is called, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their evil ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Jeremiah 31:2 Thus saith YHWH: the people that were left of the sword have found grace in the wilderness, even Israel, when I go to cause him to rest.

God promises the descendants of Israel who, through captivity, exile, and intermarriage with Gentiles became assimilated and inculturated Gentiles today that they will find "grace in the wilderness".

    The exile mentioned in Isaiah

From the JPS (1917) Jewish Bible Tanakh
8 In full measure, when Thou sendest her away, Thou dost contend with her; He hath removed her with His rough blast in the day of the east wind.
9 Therefore by this shall the iniquity of Jacob be expiated, and this is all the fruit of taking away his sin: when he maketh all the stones of the altar as chalkstones that are beaten in pieces, so that the Asherim and the sun-images shall rise no more.

Their exile was their atonement. No blood was shed.

Jesus is my Goel, my kinsman-redeemer. His Spirit was given to me (and all who ask) to keep me alive. Without it, I can only sin and die. With it, when and if I sin, I will not die. I am still a sinner. I am justified.

You may try to keep the Law. I will trust in His Spirit and in His Blood. I know who wins in the end. Sacrifice is the only way to defeat the Law, according to Scripture. Have you burned any goats lately?

“get back to that humbleness, with that contrite spirit..”
——well, we’re missing a big opportunity here to dissect
    these philosophical “differences”:
Palin’s words are the spiritual equivalent of the secular place a half century of Liberalism/Moral Relativism/”Nuance”/White Guilt, etc etc. has put us in: “humbleness” and “that contrite spirit”, are pretty much the same proscriptions emanating from our new “Leader”, Obama, as he prepares America and Americans for a necessary downward spiral of ruin. IOW , he also thinks we should be humble and contrite for the multiple ways in which ‘our greed’ has ruined the “chances” of Planet Earth to be an equitable home for all its residents.
Just sayin’. The Obama “Philosophy” will lose credibility if and when more people start hurting and see now way out of this fun slide he’s put us all on, and sent us hurtling into oblivion.

    Mat 23:23
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier [matters] of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

He placed ‘moral’ law above ‘ceremonial’ law. This is why some ‘thought’ that he ‘broke’ the law. You have to remember that Yehoshua taught in a period of transition, during the development of different schools of interpretation in Judaism. It is inevitable that there would be variant interpretations of the Law as recorded in the Gospels. With the Pharisees, Yehoshua accepts the Law of the Sabbath; he differs only in the interpretations of that law as found in the Oral Law. The Oral Law detailed the many conditions that allowed for the breaking of the Sabbath.

For example, the Rabbis of the Hillel School of Pharisaism declared that is was permissible to violate the Sabbath to preserve life, that in doing so you violate a Sabbath to ensure the observance of future Sabbaths. This was accepted interpretation by the Hillel Pharisees of which Yehoshua belonged, but not to the Shammai Pharisees or the Sadducees who were ultra-strict, always adhering to the ‘letter of the Law’ over the ‘spirit of the Law’ (Oral Law). It has been said that in elevating the spirit of the Law over the letter of the Law one can understand the minimizing of the ceremonial laws. But it is not that simple according to Yehoshua. As gentiles, we are not aware that the Oral Law brought a proper understanding to the Written Law if matters were in doubt.

These (least commandments) you ought to have done, without neglecting the others (grave-weightier commandments). In drawing such a contrast, Yehoshua does not annul the Written Law (613 laws), nor even the ceremonial laws; he only brings priority to the obedience of all the Laws. Yehoshua did not stand against the Written Law or Oral Law, nor even Pharisaism, but only against the elevation of the ‘letter of the Law’ above the ‘spirit of the Law’.

    Rev 2:19
I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last [to be] more than the first.

Notice that works is mentioned twice. Check out the two tablets (commandments). The ‘moral laws’ (those between us and our fellow man) and ‘ceremonial laws’ (those between us and YHWH).

Luke 11: 37When Jesus had finished speaking, a Pharisee invited him to eat with him; so he went in and reclined at the table. 38But the Pharisee, noticing that Jesus did not first wash before the meal, was surprised.
39Then the Lord said to him, “Now then, you Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside you are full of greed and wickedness. 40You foolish people! Did not the one who made the outside make the inside also? 41But give what is inside the dish [j] to the poor, and everything will be clean for you.

42”Woe to you Pharisees, because you give God a tenth of your mint, rue and all other kinds of garden herbs, but you neglect justice and the love of God. You should have practiced the latter without leaving the former undone.

43”Woe to you Pharisees, because you love the most important seats in the synagogues and greetings in the marketplaces.

44”Woe to you, because you are like unmarked graves, which men walk over without knowing it.”

45One of the experts in the law answered him, “Teacher, when you say these things, you insult us also.”

46Jesus replied, “And you experts in the law, woe to you, because you load people down with burdens they can hardly carry, and you yourselves will not lift one finger to help them.

47”Woe to you, because you build tombs for the prophets, and it was your forefathers who killed them. 48So you testify that you approve of what your forefathers did; they killed the prophets, and you build their tombs. 49Because of this, God in his wisdom said, ‘I will send them prophets and apostles, some of whom they will kill and others they will persecute.’ 50Therefore this generation will be held responsible for the blood of all the prophets that has been shed since the beginning of the world, 51from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah, who was killed between the altar and the sanctuary. Yes, I tell you, this generation will be held responsible for it all.

52”Woe to you experts in the law, because you have taken away the key to knowledge. You yourselves have not entered, and you have hindered those who were entering.”

53When Jesus left there, the Pharisees and the teachers of the law began to oppose him fiercely and to besiege him with questions, 54waiting to catch him in something he might say. -NIV

As a Christian, I will choose to disagree with you. The Ten Commandments were given to REVEAL SIN, not eliminate it.

I disagree. They were given as guidelines on how we should live our lives. Some of the Commandments pertain our relationships with each other and some Commandments pertain to our relationship with God.

36 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37 Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

He was quoting from the Torah, which shouldn't surprise anyone.

    Deuteronomy 6
5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

    Leviticus 19
18 Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD.

You are welcome to try and keep the Law. I'll keep the faith in His Blood! No split required.

No, I was not nitpicking, nor splitting hairs. I was quoting my Savior. You are at odds with Him, not me! Maybe Paul can better explain...

Romans 3: 19 Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God. 20 Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin.

21 But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. 22 This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 25 God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement,[i] through faith in his blood. -NIV

Everyone should understand that this is why the Left and the MSM is coming so unglued about Sarah Palin. If she continues to seek her God during and we do the same, we will win this war against these very evil people.

If God is for us, who can be against us? Roman 8:31

Oftentimes the truth hurts but it remains the truth.

Sorry, but I do not engage in splitting hairs and nitpicking over scripture.

My question is, “Where the hell is Bob J?”

I have reviewed all the comments on this thread and have yet to see my requisite and expected Bob J Palinista condemnation. This woman has REAL values. Values that actually come from the Almighty. That in and of itself is why we love her. Meanwhile, Bob J will continue posting tripe, weakly attempting to prop up his vacilating secularist big gubmint Faves.

It should be obvious that sticking to the 10 Commandments would spare the world an awful lot of misery.

As a Christian, I will choose to disagree with you. The Ten Commandments were given to REVEAL SIN, not eliminate it. It should be obvious that sticking to the 10 Commandments faith in Jesus Christ would spare the world an awful lot of misery. The Law was fulfilled with Jesus, and a new Dispensation brought to bear. Faith in Jesus means you must obey God's Sprit, rather than a bunch of written rules. He expects perfection, but allows for failure (when faith is exercised).

    Thank God for Sarah.

Matthew 22: 34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question:

36 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37 Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

Amen to that. The US has fallen away for the most part of our Christian heritage and we are bearing the fruits of it now.
