On October 1, 2009, the Obama administration in conjunction with the Egyptian government, introduced an anti-free speech measure to the United Nation’s Human Rights Council (HRC). The GOP resolution yesterday seeking to suspend Rep. Charlie Rangel's role as chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee achieved its goal: not his suspension, but a public display of the Democrats' tolerance for sleaze. With Dems in charge -- and unwilling to acknowledge Rangel's repeated lapses over the years -- no one really expected the measure to pass.
