Few influences affect a man’s heart for God more than his wife, for better or for worse. She will either encourage his spiritual devotion to the Lord or she will hinder it. She will either enlarge his passion for God or she will pour cold water on it. What kind of wife encourages her husband’s spiritual growth? Proverbs 31:10–31 provides a profile of the wife who is worthy of her husband’s trust. Such a wife is the embodiment of true wisdom from God, causing the husband to confide in her with complete trust.“An excellent wife who can find? She is...

Demille Hollywood Prayer Network (HPN) is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization led by entertainment industry Christians, seeking to impact our culture for Christ through prayer. • Christians and Hindus portrayed negatively by offensive school textbooks in Pakistan

    Christian Daily ^ | April 15, 2016 | Christian Deguit
Textbooks in Pakistan that are used to teach about 41 million children, negatively portray religious minorities such as Christians and Hindus, referring to them as "nefarious, violent, and tyrannical by nature." (Reuters/Kham)Third-grade level students attend class at the Mashal Model School on the outskirts of Islamabad, Pakistan. "Pakistan's public school textbooks contain deeply troubling content that portrays non-Muslim citizens as outsiders, unpatriotic, and inferior; are filled with errors; and present widely-disputed historical 'facts' as settled history," said Robert George in a press release. George is the chairman of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF). A study done by...
  • On Sterile Politics, Christianity and Liberty

    04/17/2016 1:46:39 AM PDT · by Jacquerie · 12 replies
I was a registered Libertarian for twelve years. While I probably still agree with much of what the party stands for, I left the Libertarians for the same reason I grow weary of the Republican Party: its philosophy, to the extent it has one, is sterile. By sterile, I mean its lack of appeal to higher law and our nobler passions. For instance, the libertarian assertion that my rights only go so far as to not impinge on those of others is all well and good. However, without at least introducing why this is so, that our rights are gifts...

An update on Dr. Sproul's health: He is currently in the hospital near his home in Florida and is receiving steroids intravenously at his pulmonologist's recommendation. His breathing has been difficult over the past several months. We are encouraged that his vital metrics are good and the chest X-ray was clear showing no signs of pneumonia. He is getting expert care from the medical staff and they will continue to observe his progress and see how he responds to treatment. Please keep the Sproul family in your prayers.
  • Bad news, atheists. Federal Court rules ‘Flying Spaghetti Monster’ not a real religion

Tough luck, pastafarians. You'll just have to go back to being annoying, dressing like pirates, and pretending to worship a wad of noodles without any of the protections of a real religion As Dan and I have written several times, militant atheists are so obsessed with a thing they don’t believe in - namely faith - that they spend much of their time thinking up creative ways to mock it. This makes them feel clever, superior, and better than the neanderthals that believe in a higher power. If they actually got their wish, and religion became a thing of the...
  • WOW! Glenn Beck: Nobody Can Understand the Moses-Like Burden Ted Cruz Carries

Radio host Glenn Beck told his audience last month that Ted Cruz was “anointed for this time.” Beck also brought a fasting child on stage in Utah and declared, “This is the priesthood rising.” On his television program last week, Beck told his studio audience that he sent an encouraging note to Ted Cruz a couple weeks back because nobody knows what it is like to carry the Moses-like burden that Cruz bears. Transcript via RWW: “Imagine being in a position to where you believe it, you believe the country is at the end, you believe that God is telling...

Politics Socialism’s Lonely Eden by Chad Ashby March 22, 2016 The rise of Bernie Sanders this election cycle has American voters dusting off an old question: What is socialism? In 2016, the Cold War is a distant memory, and many millennial voters were born after the fall of the Berlin Wall. In a political race shaped by tweets and sound bytes, it’s tempting to think socialism is just a catchall term for a hodgepodge of liberal policies like free college, universal healthcare, wealth redistribution, and tax plans. Such assumptions suggest that socialism is misunderstood in the 21st century—in fact, even...
  • Ted Cruz, the man who believes god wants him to be president

SENATOR Ted Cruz may be dubbed the most despised man in Washington but he is certain God wants him to be the next president of the US. snip What is disconcerting is the paradox that such a religious person as Cruz can attract such hatred. If you think hatred is a strong word this is what Cruz’s college room-mate says of him: “I would rather have anybody else be the president of the United States. Anyone. I would rather pick somebody from the phone book.” In case the US did not get the message, Craig Mazin – now a scriptwriter...

Attending the School of God from R.C. Sproul Apr 09, 2016 Category: Articles We live in a culture that is a quick and dirty culture. We want to become mature Christians in five easy lessons. We want to become saints by fifteen minutes a day. We want to have flat stomachs and strong abs by three workouts a week. That may work over a given period of time for your abs, but it’s not going to work for your soul. Attending the school of God takes time and labor and energy and deeply committing oneself to prayer, to the study of...
  • DHS to change naturalization test for 'freedom of religion'

    04/08/2016 4:11:13 PM PDT · by Nachum · 7 replies
Department of Homeland Security officials have agreed to revise their naturalization tests following pressure from a Republican senator who worried they were promulgating a "confined" understanding of religious liberty. "We live in a great nation that allows individuals to live out their faith, or have no faith at all," Oklahoma Sen. James Lankford said Friday. "To protect freedom and diversity, we must carefully articulate this right throughout the federal government." To that end, he pressed DHS to revise immigrant study guides that referred to "freedom of worship" rather than "freedom of religion," which conservative Christians regard as more expansive and...

Just before I sat down to write this article, the terrorist group known as ISIS claimed responsibility for another attack in the Middle East. In this latest incident, Muslim terrorists reportedly killed more than twelve people, injured more than twenty-five people, and took as many as fifty hostages. Sadly, we have grown accustomed to such horrendous news—so accustomed that we have almost come to expect such news every day. If we have not become desensitized to these sinful and shameful acts of terrorism, we feel a range of emotions, from anger to sadness, vengeance to helplessness, defensiveness to aggression. ISIS...

IN 1953, the Catholic Missionaries of Our Lady of LaSalette established a shrine and spiritual retreat on a 199-acre lot in Attleboro, Mass. The shrine's motto — "Come nearer, my children" — is reflected in the array of opportunities it offers worshipers and pilgrims to draw close to God. Among them: daily Masses, religious conferences, a soup kitchen for the hungry, and a Festival of Lights at Christmastime that attracts 400,000 visitors. As a place of worship, charity, and religious guidance, the LaSalette Shrine had always been exempt from property taxes — the standard practice everywhere in the United States....

The most profound thinkers in America are conservative. There are, of course, bright liberal and leftist thinkers, but I can't think of one who approaches the depth and wisdom of the best conservative writers and thinkers. What liberal historian, for example, approaches the understanding of life and history that author Paul Johnson has exhibited in his many works of history? Who on the left matches psychiatrist/writer Theodore Dalrymple's insight into the underclass? What left-wing columnists understand human nature, the state of mankind, or contemporary America as do George Will, Charles Krauthammer and Thomas Sowell, or many of the leading columnists...

In a decision by the U.S. Army Thursday, Capt. Simratpal Singh, a decorated Sikh-American officer and combat veteran, has received a long-term religious accommodation to serve with long hair, a beard, and turban in accordance with his Sikh faith. In December, Singh — a West Point graduate, Army Ranger, and Bronze Star recipient — received a temporary accommodation to serve in the military with his articles of faith intact. In March, a U.S. district judge issues a temporary restraining order against additional non-standard, discriminatory testing. According to The Sikh Coalition, which is representing Singh with The Becket Fund for Religious...

2016 has been a busy year for the Newsboys and the first quarter is barely even over. The veteran Christian band appears in a pivotal scene in the new film God's Not Dead 2, which hits theaters Friday (April 1). Their latest album, Love Riot, bowed at No. 1 on the Top Rock Albums chart, No. 2 on the Top Christian Albums list and No. 14 on the all-genre 200. Not bad for a band that was launched in Australia three decades ago and has continually reinvented itself. "In many ways, I just feel we are getting started," drummer Duncan...
  • Why Don’t We Punish Women Who Have Abortions?

During a recent town hall forum, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump was asked by host Chris Matthews if he thinks there should be “some form of punishment” in the event of a ban on abortion. Trump said, “For the woman? . . . Yeah.” He added that the punishment in question would “have to be determined.” The comment was quickly condemned by both those who support abortion and those who oppose the killing of the unborn. Within hours Trump released a statement reversing his position, saying, in part: If Congress were to pass legislation making abortion illegal and the federal...

A former Muslim woman wrote a post on Wednesday explaining how presidential candidate Donald Trump inspired her to leave Islam. “ExMuslimMaga,” who identifies herself as a 19 year-old college student, addressed her Reddit post to “The_Donald” revealing how she had “been secretly watching Trump and his speeches for the last few months and agreeing with what he says about Islam.” “Until yesterday, I had not once removed my hajib in my life while outside. I tried to do it once when I was 10 years old, and my parents grounded me for a week,” she writes.
