The church is not a metamorphasized Israel. You are seeing in the book of Acts God continuing to deal with Israel, and using Paul in that transition until after Acts 28, but the Church and Israel never became the same thing and never will.

Nation Building is a Left Wing code word for Don’t fight the enemy.

You think we can save money by not fighting the enemy who declared war on us and killed more Americans in one day on 9/11 than at Pearl Harbor.

Oh, thats right, the Libertarians wern’t big on fighting WWII either.

I guess we will have to wait for 0bama to frame the mission. The mission was not nation building, but capturing 0sama, chasing 0sama to the gates of hell, if needed (???)

0bama apparently wants an exit strategy. Winning is the only exit strategy from a war.

Unfortunately, as the above indicates, Sarah has been thoroughly co-opted by Billy Kristol and her other neocon handlers. How does she think the American taxpayer can pay for additional years of Obama’s futile nation building crusade. Please note that she never defines what “winning” means.

You know, this is just Sarah Palin, guided by her own conservative philosophy and core values, not a room full of DC insiders and communications “experts”.

After I read in her book how tightly controlled she was by the McCain campaign operatives, I couldn’t help but feel angry - and very excited at the same time. Angry because of how they handled her, but excited at the prospect of how formidable she could be (will be!) when SHE is the one calling the shots and following HER own instincts, just like she does on Facebook and Twitter.

Smarmy opportunists like Nicolle Wallace will be out of a job.

All of the feasts you gave Scripture for, with the exception of 1 Cor. 5 had to do with the Jews, and were not New Testament holdays for Christians under grace.

Thanks for your response. That's a common misunderstanding. None of them had specifically to do with Jews. The feast days of the Lord, Jesus Christ, were specifically given to the "children of Israel". Christians, through the shed blood of Christ under the new covenant are joined to Israel. Christians become the children of Israel via Christ.

Eph 2:11 Therefore remember that you, once Gentiles in the flesh—who are called Uncircumcision by what is called the Circumcision made in the flesh by hands—
Eph 2:12 that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.
Eph 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

The covenants of promise ONLY belong to Israel. Through Christ, gentiles become children of Israel and receive the promises and the covenants.

Thus the giving of the holy days of the Lord Jesus Christ pertains to Christians today.

The feast in 1 Cor 5:8 is the Lord’s Supper or Communion.

In context it's clear that Paul is referring to the Passover AND the feast of unleavened bread:

1Co 5:6 Your glorying is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump?
1Co 5:7 Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us.
1Co 5:8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

The references to removing leaven are from instructions given by the Lord Jesus Christ:

Lev 23:5 On the fourteenth day of the first month at twilight is the LORD's Passover.
Lev 23:6 And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the Feast of Unleavened Bread to the LORD; seven days you must eat unleavened bread.

It is not a holiday, but observed by the determination of a particular church “as often as ye . . .”

The Passover ceremony is a memorial, instituted by Christ as a remembrance. It was done on the Passover and was intended to be observed yearly, on the Passover.

1Co 11:24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, "Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me."
1Co 11:25 In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me."
1Co 11:26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death till He comes.

A more accurate rendition of "for as often as you eat" is "every time you eat..."

Notice Paul, in Acts 18, spoke of keeping that feast in Jerusalem. There was no other legal (Mosaic law) place it could be kept.

Show me scripture that says it could only be kept in Jerusalem.

It was an OLD Testament feast day of the Jews. Paul said HE must. He didn’t say anyone else must.

He specifically told the Corinthian congregation which was composed of primarily gentiles to "keep the feast".

Paul had a special relationship to the Jews and intended to use his position among them to get a platform to witness to them one last time. Until Acts 28, Paul was “for the hope of ISRAEL bound with this chain.”

    An interesting passage:

Act 28:17 And it came to pass after three days that Paul called the leaders of the Jews together. So when they had come together, he said to them: "Men and brethren, though I have done nothing against our people or the customs of our fathers, yet I was delivered as a prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans,
Act 28:18 who, when they had examined me, wanted to let me go, because there was no cause for putting me to death.
Act 28:19 But when the Jews spoke against it, I was compelled to appeal to Caesar, not that I had anything of which to accuse my nation.
Act 28:20 For this reason therefore I have called for you, to see you and speak with you, because for the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain."
Act 28:21 Then they said to him, "We neither received letters from Judea concerning you, nor have any of the brethren who came reported or spoken any evil of you.

If Paul were teaching that people didn't have to observe the holy days that Christ created and observed don't you think that somebody would have accused him of that? Yet you can read through scripture and this is never a charge against him.

For someone whom vapid-stare Katie Colic and peer-over-my-specs Charlie Gibbon would have us believe is a blithering dimwit, Sarah really uses a remarkable economy of words to deliver a titanic right cross.

    Time and time again.

Imagins if she were not only amazingly accomplished at executive governing, but also unusually smart and erudite? She did get Alaska shaken up and turned around, jailed the crooks, returned oil profits to the people, got the pipeline deal sealed, had a baby, and ran for V.P., and left office with over a year still left in her first term.

Wow. I see why they're so terrified. I'd be scared too.

All of the feasts you gave Scripture for, with the exception of 1 Cor. 5 had to do with the Jews, and were not New Testament holidays for Christian

Where exactly are we instructed in scripture not to observe the Festivals that Douglas has enumerated? I assume you can point that out to us?

Jesus Christ was a Jew, born under the Mosaic Law. He observed the Old Testament feasts. Passover is a Jewish feast. Christ Himself IS our passover. There is no instruction for the Body of Christ to observe it.

Actually, Passover was given to the entire nation of Israel....not just the Jews: [Exodus 12:1-3] And the LORD spake unto "Moses and Aaron" (Levites....not Jews) in the land of Egypt saying, 2 This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you. 3 Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house.

The nation of Israel was composed of twelve different tribes with a son of Jacob (one of twelve) as the progenitor of his own tribe. Judah was the progenitor of the Jews.

Have you ever given thought to the fact the Apostle John (last living) instructed his own followers in the observance of Passover. You can find that here. (Fourth paragraph)

Why do we find the disciples of the Apostle John still observing Passover well into the second century if the observance had been done away with according to scripture?

Notice Paul, in Acts 18, spoke of keeping that feast in Jerusalem. There was no other legal (Mosaic law) place it could be kept. It was an OLD Testament feast day of the Jews. Paul said HE must. He didn’t say anyone else must. Paul had a special relationship to the Jews and intended to use his position among them to get a platform to witness to them one last time. Until Acts 28, Paul was "for the hope of ISRAEL bound with this chain."

[Acts 28:17] And it came to pass, that after three days Paul called the chief of the Jews together: and when they were come together, he said unto them, Men and brethren, though I have committed nothing against the people, or customs of our fathers, yet was I delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans.

Since we're talking about Acts 28.....why would Paul make such a statement if he had been teaching Gentile converts to ignore God's Festivals, Sabbaths and Holidays? Would not the customs of our fathers include teaching converts about these sacred observances?

The feasts of the Lord in Leviticus were nation-sensitive. They were given to Israel to observe, but not to the nations or to the Body of Christ.

Again....I would like to see your scripture reference for these instructions to the New Testament Church.

1 A day of the LORD is coming when your plunder will be divided among you.
2 I will gather all the nations to Jerusalem to fight against it; the city will be captured, the houses ransacked, and the women raped. Half of the city will go into exile, but the rest of the people will not be taken from the city.

3 Then the LORD will go out and fight against those nations, as he fights in the day of battle. 4 On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west, forming a great valley, with half of the mountain moving north and half moving south. 5 You will flee by my mountain valley, for it will extend to Azel. You will flee as you fled from the earthquake [a] in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Then the LORD my God will come, and all the holy ones with him.
